The sky is gloomy, there’s barely any birds chirping, and the trees have lost their leaves when they fall to the ground. Sitting on the white, stone bench, Bruce pictures what his life could’ve been if his life wasn’t so full of luxury and old money stuff. He’s just sitting there in peace, not a single word from his mouth as he stares down at his clasped hands.
At the corner of his grey eyes, he spots two girls whispering to each other–grinning as they giggle seemingly at each other. But that’s not really the case though.
“Oh-em-gee, Bruce just looked at me!” One girl whispered to her friend, not knowing that Bruce can literally read lips.
“I know right?! Look how clean and combed his hair is.” Her friend responds back in a whisper.
Bruce looks down at his clasped hands again, sighing because this isn’t really the first time that girls fawned over him. He’s flattered by attention, but to him, he believes that maybe there should be more to life than being known for old money.
The next day, it’s all the same in school. Bruce doesn’t bother to do much but read a classic novel, sitting by a window while looking “mysterious.” Then there comes most of the girls giggling as they walk past him, always having something positive to say about his charming appearance, money, or just his social media profile that has like a thousand followers. Lastly, there’s Darla, his blonde classmate who is sitting at the back of his teacher’s classroom, drawing in her mini sketchbook. For some reason, she doesn’t fawn over him like most girls do. She’s just… well… Existing in her own little world, always zoning out, although she sometimes appears at the very corner of Bruce’s eye.
Today is just a regular day at school.
Once the bell rings for dismissal, one of his butlers finally drives him back to the very same mansion that has (somehow) stayed strong for centuries. The very same place that made people compare him to “Bruce Wayne,” a fictional character that is some “smart” guy who fights crime. Just thinking about it made Bruce cringe, but maintains a straight face nevertheless. By the time they got there, Bruce was quick to get out of the black car and head inside for dinner. At least he brings his backpack with him.
On the dinner table, there is food that you’d see in a fancy restaurant. Unfortunately, Bruce was expecting crispy chicken tenders. But nah, there’s a fancy restaurant-type of food waiting to be eaten off the clean plate.
“How was school, darling?” Bruce's mother asks, dressed in red with expensive jewelry, as she cuts open her food.
Bruce sat down before speaking, “It was fine. Just a regular day.” Although his day at school has been boring as usual. The gloomy skies don’t make it any better either.
“Did you get a girlfriend yet?”
“No..”
“Well, you SHOULD get a girlfriend so that we can stay relevant and continue the family’s legacy!” His mother suggested before letting out a soft chuckle.
Bruce rolled his eyes as he responded, “But mom, most girls just want my money to buy whatever crap they want.”
“Then go and spoil them! If you wanna keep a girl around, give her some cash.” Said his mother.
“Right…” Bruce grumbled.
And then during the night time, Bruce is lying on the bed, scrolling through social media. When he was scrolling, he stumbled upon some girl’s video about how much she wanted to date him. How typically… annoying… But flattering! And so he threw his phone across the room and went straight to nap time.
