My safe family was a lie

Volume 1: Chapter 3

Volume 1: Chapter 3

Jun 27, 2026

I was so embarrassed that I hid my face with my hands.

Everyone looked at us as if we were some kind of freaks.

"Mr. are you crazy?"

"No. Why would I be?"

"Then why are you acting like this?"

"Acting like what?"

He grinned.

Seriously.

*****

A few days later...

Mr. Jamson was a farmer from the small village of Arka.

He was single and had lived alone before I came.

He had an eye catching appearance, jet black hair and blood red eyes. Such attractive features could make anyone fall for him.

But no matter how much you looked at this man, he was nothing more than a commoner.

He worked all day on the farm, went to the market, and ate snacks with the villagers.

He always talked about his farm and me.

Me.

Yes, that was what made me suspicious. Why did he accept me so easily?

Was it because he had been living alone? It's not like no one would marry him with that kind of beauty.

But he seemed to be a good guy.

He always made sure I ate three meals a day. He even gave me snacks after every meal.

He told me stories at night, made sure I brushed my teeth, and even did my hair perfectly.

I guess he just liked kids.

"Bunny."

The door burst open, and Jamson entered with a bright smile.

"Mr. Jamson, I told you not to call me that. My name is Lilian."

"Oh! Look at those puffy cheeks."

He pinched her cheeks.

"What can I do when you're this adorable?"

He had been calling me "Bunny" since the very first day. He thought I looked like a bunny.

Again, he was crazy.

"Let me see what Papa can make for Bunny today."

He went to the kitchen to make lunch.

A few moments later...

"~Ta-da~."

The table was filled with various kinds of dishes.

He made all these dishes this fast?

"Come quickly, or they'll get cold."

He pulled a chair out for me.

I went over, and he helped me sit on the chair.

The table was too high for me, so there were books placed on the chair to make me tall enough to reach it.

He started serving me.

What a princess treatment in a slum.

He sat across the table.

"Go on. Eat."

I took a bite, and yeah... this was heaven. The food was so delicious.

Jamson looked at her with a smile.

"Do you like the food?"

"Yes, it's delicious."

"You have magic in your hands, Mr."

For some reason, his face darkened.

Did I say something wrong?

Should I praise his farm's produce instead?

"Because it's made with food from your farm, it tastes even more delicious, Mr."

His face darkened even more.

So buttering him up has no effect.

"Bunny."

"Y-Yes?"

"Am I bad?"

"No."

"Then why are you doing this?"

Doing what?

"What?"

"Why are you still calling me 'Mr.'? I'm your father, right?"

"O-Oh."

She was shocked by the reason.

"My friend's daughter calls him 'Father' or 'Papa' so sweetly. Can't you call me that too?"

He made a sad expression.

He was taking his role far too seriously.

But seeing his sad expression made me feel sad too.

I should be nicer to him.

"Fa... Fat... Fa..."

Jamson's eyes lit up with hope.

"Say it. Say Papa.'"

"Pa... Pae... Pa..."

I couldn't say the word.

It's not like my voice was stuck in my throat. It just... I don't know.

"Say Pa~pa."

"Pa... Pa-p..."

I felt like a newborn baby trying to say its first word.

In the end, I gave up.

"It's okay. You tried your best."

He stroked my hair and gave me a weak smile.

It made me sad.

Maybe it was because of my past life.

Maybe because of my so called family, I couldn't truly trust him.

But he was just a stranger who had adopted me and was helping me.

So he was far better than those people.

But I still couldn't.

Maybe I needed more time to heal.

"Bunny."

"Yes?"

"Let's go meet Grandma Anne. She made new clothes for you."

"Okay."

For now, let's just focus on surviving.

Question: How you will introduce your family?

My family is the best.

My father was a farmer who loved his farming life. He was kind, polite, and the coolest person I know. He loves me so much.
[He is the strongest mage of the Empire. No one is more ruthless than him when it comes to protecting me.]

My mother is the most beautiful woman in the Empire. She is like an angel who came down to Earth. I am also her first priority, just like my father.
[Of course she is an angel who came to Earth but she can defeat an entire demon gang alone. The “battle flower”. Even many people afraid to approached her.]

And I am their lovely, cute daughter who loves my parents very much.
[A destined child who will save the world from destruction.]

And that is why my family is the safest place for me.
