Noah finally finished his shift and set down his apron. By the time he was done, it was already 5:00 o'clock. Micah was sitting patiently at his table, while Noah spent the rest of the shift trying not to think about the way Micah had won him 250 dollars just for the sake of seeing him happy.
And yes, Noah was very happy. In fact, he'd been far more cheerful ever since Micah came into his life.
Coincidence?
Noah wasn't sure anymore.
He took off his apron and said goodbye to Daniel before walking over to Micah.
"Hi," Noah spoke softly, smiling.
"Hello. You said you'd be right back. You took a long time."
Noah looked sheepish.
"I know, sorry. There were a lot of customers today, but I'm done now."
Micah stood up from his chair and started following Noah outside the door. As soon as they made it out, Noah exhaled in relief.
"Wow. Today was eventful, don't you think?"
"Yes, it was. Besides..." Micah trailed off, pocketing his hands.
"Hm?"
"I don't think your friend likes me very much."
Noah laughed the moment Micah said that.
"I think you don't like him very much."
Heat crawled up Micah's neck. He knew he was caught and cleared his throat.
"What was your fun idea?"
Noah's violet eyes sparkled with mischief. He grinned slyly.
"Follow me!"
He grabbed hold of Micah's arm and started running, and Micah just let the human drag him along.
Noah did not have that much stamina and within five minutes leaned against an alleyway wall, breathing heavily.
Micah didn't even hesitate before scooping him up effortlessly and started to walk at a normal pace.
"Ack! Why do you keep doing that?!"
Micah frowned, looking at Noah's flushed cheeks.
"You are tired. Isn't this normal?"
"No. It's really not."
The blonde paused slightly before continuing.
"Normally, I'd be against this, but I will allow you to carry me. I'm really exhausted."
Micah smiled victoriously.
"Where are we going, little human?"
"Who are you calling little?!" Noah's jaw ticked in irritation.
"You are very small though." Micah stated like he was just listing facts from a book.
Noah suddenly wanted to punch or kiss Micah.
"Just listen to my instructions," he muttered.
"Okay, human."
"Uh... if I remember correctly, take a left."
Micah ran at a supernatural speed to the left.
"What the hell?!" Noah screamed, both thrilled and terrified at the same time.
"Are you hurt?"
"N-no. It's just that... how can you run that fast?"
"It's just one of my abilities. Where next?"
"Forward for now. Don't you get tired?" Noah asked curiously, watching Micah's expression.
"No."
He said, sprinting forward. The air whipped through both of their hair, and the surrounding objects blurred in hindsight.
"Werewolves have a lot of endurance. We can run for miles without stopping."
Wow... that's amazing! Endurance... Wish I had that. He really is perfect, isn't he? But speaking of endurance... is it for, like, everything... as in...?
Noah's ears turned bright red.
Why was he even thinking about that?
After a while of running, they finally arrived at their destination: a pool.
It was closed for the night, forbidden to enter, but it was beautiful under the soft glow of the moon.
Micah placed Noah down on his feet. Noah wobbled just a bit while catching his balance. His head was dizzy from moving so fast, but he was still able to see.
Which he immediately regretted being able to see.
Because the moment Micah stared at the water, he instantly peeled off his shirt.
Noah's face flushed a deep shade of crimson.
"God! Why are you doing that here?"
"You are aware," Micah said slowly, his gaze lingering on Noah's face, "that to swim in the pool you must shed your clothing."
Oh God! Why did he phrase it like that?!
Noah turned away, trying to hide his face while fumbling awkwardly with his shirt buttons.
Micah splashed into the pool, then swam to the side and reached up, his calloused hands wrapping around Noah's ankle.
"Micah, what are you—"
Splash.
Micah grabbed him backward into the water, and he fell against Micah's chest.
He turned to face Micah, his hair sticking to his face, his clothes soaked to his undergarments, with a glare.
And then Micah splashed him with water.
"You. Wouldn't. Dare."
Micah splashed him again.
"That's it. You're dead."
Noah swam back from him and scooped a large amount of water onto Micah's head.
Then he pulled off the beanie to see his wet ears twitching furiously.
And then Noah started laughing uncontrollably. "Look at the wet little fluffy ears... so cute!"
Micah gasped before diving underwater and soaking Noah with another waves of water. Soon a full-on water fight started, and their laughter echoed into the night.
