Monster Police Eat Children

Story 2: Holmes Hotel

Story 2: Holmes Hotel

Jun 30, 2026

Dola steps into the room, encased within a golden shell inside a glass display, which seems to be the first item among the collection of cursed objects in the basement. Dola must be perplexed, as this could be her initial encounter. Could it be that the Monster Police established this group before her arrival? She contemplates more deeply, pondering the mystery: WHO ARE THEY?

Gorham walks into the room and spots Dola, questioning her, "You must be the new girl, but you're not from this timeline? How did you arrive here?"

Dola jumps, startled that the man in black has compelled her to respond multiple times. She explains, "I am part of the GAME, which was created by Death; if I can crack the world's toughest case here, I will advance to the final stage. It's challenging, but if I solve that last one, I will be dead. Death might be the only thing I desire besides continuing on. Living a life without purpose is dreadful. Initially, I felt better as a detective, but it doesn't take long before one realizes they want to do something beyond that."

Gorham gazes at her, seemingly sensing the intertwining of life and death in his own existence.

"I mean, you're a very unique girl. This entire GAME represents a goal, not merely an existence devoid of meaning. What is your name?" Gorham inquires.

"Dola. Dola Trouble. I come from a cursed family, and I want to see this family tree come to an end. I don't want children, as the future will be tough for the young ones, plus it's costly to raise a child, according to many," Dola replied.

"I hate to admit it, but you've made the correct choice about your fate. I have to document everything the Monster Police are doing for Theo's brother to read; he's a journalist," Gorham said.

Theo, a tall man with a long nose, is viewed as the most insufferable member of the team; he is human and harbors a strong dislike for monsters, considering them odd. However, his younger brother, Symon, is away on a six-month "trip" and will return with a significant surprise.

(You must read Different Faces from Paintings to understand who Symon is.)

Regardless, Gorham hands Dola a book that he constantly writes in. It's beautifully striped in red and white, adorned with gold plates at each corner. Dola admires it, saying it's lovely.

"That last name sounds familiar. I also possess a book, Crisker, my sister gifted to me while Symon is away," Gorham mentioned as he handed her a black journal filled with scribbles about Delfino Trouble's life.

"Delfino Trouble? My great-grandfather!?! I read some of his works back in high school, which is why I don't want our family line to continue! I resented my parents to such an extent. They seem determined to fail, while I never want to grow up as a failure! You know, living an unfulfilling life is utterly pointless. I've already set my goals as a detective, but I don't want to pursue this indefinitely!" Dola pleaded.

Gorham observed the sorrow in Dola's eyes and said, "You are cherished. Through your friends, show the Monster Police your true self; let this GAME become part of your narrative."

Dola looked up at Gorham and smiled.

Both of them left the room, closing the door to allow the golden shell to "rest in peace."

That evening, Hathen and Rockin are up to no good; a foul odor wafts from the beautiful yet harsh steel hotel known for clients who never exit their rooms and perish at the hands of the manager. At the end of the boardwalk, Oxin, Uvital, Elid, and Carmine observe the entire exterior of the building, searching around, but find nothing until eerie noises alert them from the windows. It felt unusually cold for a summer day, they collectively thought.

Hathen and Rockin step into the main lobby and notice the absence of other guests; only a shiny green desk with navy key holders and chains stands there. Rockin notices a bell. He rings it once, prompting Hathen to leap to the desk and stomp on the bell with his right foot, ringing it repeatedly until the clerk shouts for him to stop. The clerk has a round face and a flat stomach, with long legs and arms; his dimples and small, round eyes give him an inviting look. His red hair and uniform imply that nothing is amiss, according to Rockin. Red signifies beauty but also caution.

"Apologies. Bells are my favorite toys, silly man," Hathen chuckled. The other monsters joined them in the lobby, and as Oxin asked, "A room for six people. For one night?"

The clerk replied, "Of course, it's merely six pennies for each guest. But you must possess great bravery to stay here."

Becoming wary, Oxin and the other monsters recognized the clerk's sudden smile. The clerk retrieves a key from one of the holders and proceeds to lead them further into the hotel, arousing the monsters' curiosity.

As they walk the hallways, the silent but unpleasant scent of the hotel carpet signals to the monsters that something is dreadfully wrong; they are likely to meet their end here. The clerk hums the tune: Ring Around the Rosie.

The walls and doors appear clean; however, it's apparent that when the perpetrator finishes off a victim, they clean up the evidence in an instant, almost like magic.

Hathen notices that many seem silent, likely asleep.

They enter a vast room adorned with elegant lights, lamps, two large beds, three sizable tables, and fruit baskets on every table. The walls are painted in rich blue and white stripes, and the carpets feel excessively coarse.

Hathen and Rockin explore the room as there is nothing to seek danger, but as the clerk closes the door, he said, "I will prepare dinner tonight, you are my fiftieth guest for today."Today? What happened to the rest? Why did he say something about numbers all of a sudden? Oxin thought.

"As we all know, we are not going to stay, so be prepared. Because this man must be the suspect. Find something, go to any completely silent room," ordered Oxin.

So the team splits up, Hathen and Rockin went out first, going far away the room they were staying in, walking down the room where the squishing sounds starts getting louder and louder, the thumping sounds went from slow to fast, and nail scratching draws on the wall, must be a ghost, their heads are about to be hunted fro the noises and their blood are about to be boiled from the irritating consequences.

Then, the monsters start running to the room, slamming their bodies against the door and revealing themselves falling down an endless pit, screaming down to the black void, the screams they scream, the tears they cried, and the eyes shocked from that surprise. Hathen and Rockin hold each other's hands, looking at this black void. What does this void lead to?

BOOM!

Squishy floor?

Foul smell?

BONES!?!?

Lying atop lifeless bodies, the remaining forty-nine individuals fell victim to the suspect's actions. Hathen and Rockin shouted for help, but no one answered.

"HELP! HELP!! CARIME! YOU'RE A GHOST! COME GET US!!! NOW!!" the pair yelled. Oxin and Uvital were the last to leave the room, searching for an exit near their hotel room. Suddenly, Uvital knocked on a door, which swung open to reveal a room devoid of furnishings—no bed, table, carpet, or lights—and the window was shrouded in a black curtain. Uvital cautiously stepped inside but was met with a piercing scream!

Oxin hurried into the room, and just as terrifying creatures approached, the door slammed shut behind them, sealing them in a perilous situation! Oxin rushed to the door, trying to keep the monsters at bay. As he forced the door shut, it revealed a river of blood, which felt like a surreal hallucination.

Amidst a downpour of bones, an overwhelming stench of decay, and remnants of discarded items, the scene turned into a horrifying nightmare for the alien and the merman.

BAM!

BAM!

Gunfire ripped through their legs, sending their bodies flying like overheated soup prepared by the suspect, taunting, "Dinner is served!"

Dragging themselves into the kitchen, they were met with the metallic scent of blood, lying on the floor where a man hummed "Ring Around The Rosie." Slowly, they managed to stand, and Uvital noticed a door. They dashed towards it, but the suspect's booming sound erupted as he howled like a dog.

Meanwhile, Carmine and Elid remained in the room, searching through items that might reveal something about the suspect. Elid turned to Carmine, asking, "Do you see anything?"

"I see you," Carmine replied with a smile.

"I know, but this isn't the time for jokes. I want to prove that all lives are worth living. I'm not a monster like you, Carmine. You may be a ghost, but people need to understand that gender doesn't define worth," Elid sighed.

Carmine, looking deeply into Elid's eyes, reassured, "You are valuable, Elid." He grasped Elid's hand, hoping for a chance at survival.

"Just stay with us if you fear judgment, Elid," Carmine encouraged, eliciting a smile from Elid in return.

Carmine began searching for more, moving furniture around until he spotted a book under the couch. As he searched for fruits, a peculiar smell lingered in the air. Just as he was about to collapse to his knees, he suspected a sleeping gas was at play, recognizing this as a crucial trap. Elid picked up the book, which nearly blinded her with its shocking contents! The illustrations depicted bears and lions devouring humans in a hellish landscape. Elid realized that being blind was akin to facing death.

As Carmine and Elid exited the room, gunshots rang out, and Elid was shot in the legs. A man approached them, laughing, and shouted, "ICE CREAM TIME!!" Confused, both Carmine and Elid wondered if this phrase was a metaphor.

Elid collapsed as their heads were stomped and slammed, risking concussions. Carmine tried to lift her, but the assailant, whistling "Ring Around the Rosie," approached. They gasped in terror as he grabbed the two of them, dragging their injured bodies, all the while yelling, "ICE CREAM TIME!!"

"STOP! I'll do anything! Heal my friend first, take me instead!" Carmine shouted in desperation.

"You're a ghost; I can't kill a ghost, unless you're willing to sacrifice your friends. That's the final ultimatum. If you don't eliminate your friends within an hour, this one will not survive in my grasp," commanded the attacker.

The shadows faded to reveal a man—the clerk.

The clerk was the villain. What was his name?

Carmine stepped away from Elid and the clerk.

"I swear, Elid, this is for the best!" Carmine exclaimed as he dashed toward the room where Hathen and Rockin had gone. However, he had to navigate through a cacophony of sounds and chaos, quickly moving aside.

When he opened the door, a chilling black void greeted him. Amidst the darkness, Carmine heard Hathen and Rockin sobbing, and he was horrified to discover mounds of blood at his feet.

Flowing down to the dead bodies, there are ghosts next to him, moaning their bodies as Hathen and Rocking are frightened by this surprise.

One of the ghosts tells a story. The story about H.H. Holmes.

"Three years ago, he owns this hotel and since he is not the biggest fan of touriest, he want to kill them because tourist ruin the fun of a city, from breaking national momuments to peeing on the beaches, tourist should never stay over Atlantic City for now and there are no sign nobody show stay over this site until this place needs to be burn," said this ghost in the yellow shoes.

"You are right. I will get my friends up there and find my boss." Carimine grunts.

While the clerk gripped Elid by the neck, she regarded her with disgust, as if she were some kind of creature. Elid struggled to break free from her grasp.

"I can't stand you trans people. You're just a waste of space when it comes to gender. I want you dead RIGHT NOW!" the clerk shouted.

Ocin and Uvital charged toward the clerk, landing punches, while Oxin stepped on the clerk's face, shattering his legs like they were made of twigs.

Uvital picked up Elid and carried her away from the clerk and his taunts, promising her ICE CREAM.

"Shut the hell up, you pathetic loser! You're under arrest, and you deserve to die!" Oxin retorted.

As they moved away, Carmine, Hathen, and Rockin noticed a significant blood trail leading from the void room to the scene where the clerk was being beaten. Initially confused, they rushed to help when Elid began to cough up blood, and Carmine grabbed her just as she was about to faint.

Hathen and Rockin joined Oxin in the fray, bouncing on the clerk.

Five hours later, the clerk was dead.

"Should we find out who he really is?" Uvital inquired.

"His name is H.H. Holmes. He's the owner of this joint and basically the only one working here. It makes sense why the rooms were so silent—turns out it was a murder zone for tourists," Carmine explained.

"What do we do now? Burn it down?" Oxin suggested.

"Well, the ghosts told Carmine to burn it, so that's the plan," Rockin replied.

"But before that, let's give this guy one last beatdown! I'm really enjoying this!" Hathen cheered.

After five hours of brutalizing H.H. Holmes, they set the hotel ablaze using oil to ignite it from the void room all the way to the kitchen. As the flames lit up the night, the ghosts watched the hotel go up in smoke, soaring into the sky and hoping for a new beginning.

Carmine observed the spirits depart just as the fire burned out, leaving behind smoke and turning the bodies to ash, with the building crumbling into dust. Gorham and Dola approached the remnants of the devastated hotel as the monsters surveyed the obliterated site.

"My story is complete, and one of you monsters needs to tell me," Gorham said, gesturing at each of them.

Hathen questioned, "Why do you always insist on saying that?"

"There's a reason, Hathen. A good one, in fact," Gorham responded.
