“Hey, Jean, I-”
She pointed her blades towards him.
“I am sorry”
As the sword was swung down, she woke up.
Sitting up, trying to catch her breath, she held her fast beating heart. With her widened eyes, she looked around, seeing the familiar room.
She took a breath. Her heart slowed, her eyes relaxed.
She held her temple.
“Just…a dream”, she said, yet she looked at her shaking hands.
Her eyes widened again…feeling the emotions of that day. Holding her wrist with her other hand, she made a fist and took a breath.
Suddenly, a knock on the door was heard.
“Miss Jean, the king needs to see you”
She took a breath.
“I’ll be right there”
Grabbing her weapons and wearing her equipment hastily, she went to the king. She kneeled in front of his grace.
“Sire, did you need me for something?”
“Yes, it seems we require you aid again, Jean”
“I will do everything in my power to accomplish your orders, sire”
“After several decades, it seems they have returned”
Her eyes widened. Her heartbeat hastened. For a moment, time had stopped.
“Sire, do you mean?”
“Yes, the corrupt heroes has returned”
“I…see, what do you wish me to do, Sire?”
“I want you to guard this kingdom as you usually do for centuries, as the leader of the knights and for the best of this kingdom, I trust you will fulfill your duties"
Silence filled the throne room. His demanding eyes could be felt. She sighed.
“Yes sire, I will eliminate the corrupt heroes…for good this time”
“Good, you’re dismissed”
She stood up, walking towards the familiar training grounds, seeing a boy who was hacking away on a dummy.
He then noticed her.
“OH, Master, I…I was just-”
“It’s okay, just keep at it”
He bowed.
“YES”
He kept hacking and slashing the unmoving dummy.
Jean looked up at the darkened sky. She closed her eyes, yet nothing could be felt.
“Master?”
“Hmm? what is it?”
“Are you…okay?”
“Don’t…mind me, you’re the next generation hero of this kingdom, keep your eyes on your enemy”
“YES MASTER”, He said as he continued his training.
