Scarlet charged towards Jean.

“PROTECT THE CAPTAIN”.

“DON’T YOU INTERFERE!” 

Flames engulfed her body as she passed through the half-built defense, causing the guards to fall, some were burnt. As her hit connected, she pushed Jean towards the city.

“MASTER-”

Suddenly, a shadow loomed.

“Focus on me, New Hero”

His eyes widened,  He swung his sword yet only the air was cut.

“Good reflexes, tell me your name boy” 

He prepared his stance. His heartbeat hastened. His grip tightened. 

“I am, Aurum, Aurum Genos” 

Cedrix smiled. 

“Aurum genos, why did you become a knight?”

“Huh?”

“I GOT YOU-”, a guard yelled as he jumped Cedrix, but his face would meet the soft ground.

“Don’t worry, I knocked him out, now, back to my question”

Suddenly a loud sound was heard from inside. Screams could be heard. 

Aurum looked back. Fire, raging fire, they were everywhere and in the middle, were his master and the corrupt hero. 

He tried to walk yet his path would be stopped by Cedrix.

“Answer my question, boy” 

“GET OUT OF MY WAY”.

He swung his blade, yet he’s the one groveling on the ground. 

“I advise you, to answer my question, I promise her not letting anyone interfere with her” 

Aurum held his punched gut, catching his breath. He looked up at those cold and calculating eyes. 

“I…I want to protect people…I…don’t want to see what happened to my village happen to these people, They are my family!”

Cedrix smirked.

“You are just like that fool, but…I guess that’s why she chose you” 

“Why…Why are you attacking us!”, Aurum said as he slowly stood up. 

“Tell me, Aurum, do you think this kingdom is righteous as those stories say?”

“Wha..what?” 

“I have heard that legends of us being corrupted and such, yet no proof was given”

Aurum gulped. 

“Do you think that's fair?”

“I…”

“We’re here to set things right and to do that, we’ll destroy this kingdom”

Aurum’s eyes widened. 

“What?”

“We won’t kill the people, even she’s not brutish enough to kill someone else” 

Aurum bit his lip. He tightened his grip and prepared back his stance.   

“I…won’t let you!”

Cedrix sighed.

“It seems I expected a bit too much of you, however, unlike us, you have not seen what this kingdom does to its people”

Cedrix charged towards Aurum. Meanwhile, Scarlet was busy with Jean.

“THE ADVENTURES WE HAD,  DID THAT MEAN NOTHING TO YOU!”

Jean parried her assaults. The flames  around them grew wild. 

“WHAT ABOUT HIM? YOU DISCARD HIM TO? WAS HE JUST A CONVENIENCE FOR YOU?”

An attack connected, causing Jean to be pushed back.  

Suddenly, several robed figures appeared, magic circles on their palms. Spells were being casted and shot towards her.

“I SAID DON'T INTERFERE!!”

Flames surrounded her and spreaded, protecting her from the incoming assault and pushing all of them away. 

In the corner of her eye, she saw Jean. 

“YOU-”

She got blasted to the sky by a strong gust of wind. Her flames shrunk yet her rage kept her burning. She propelled herself as she did.

“SCARLET LOOK OUT!”

“HUH!?”, She said as she looked to the side, several bolts were incoming. She closed her eyes, yet…no pain could be felt.

She slowly opened her eyes. They widened.

“I…told you…to look around you”, He said as he fell into her arms. 

“Cedrix…wha- I Told you not to-”

“SHOOT AGAIN!”

She looked around and landed down. The ground cracked, pushing the civilians and any guards away. A crater formed

“Cedrix..please…no, I-”

“Scarlet…run”, He said as his body went limp. 

The screams of civilians, the burning and torn down buildings, and the footsteps of the incoming attacks…couldn’t muffle the silence she heard in her ear. 

She stood up, her rage fueled her flames. 

“I am gonna destroy it all…”, she mumbled. Spike-like protrusions appeared on her back. Feathers started to form on it. The guards shuddered at her appearance, none dare to move…yet…Jean walked towards her. 

Scarlet looked back at her, with a tear filled face, yet before they would flow, they sizzled away, and the fire in her eyes…were no more. 

Her body started glowing akin to the sun. “I am gonna destroy…you”, She said coldly. 

Jean prepared her stance. 

Scarlet charged at her, clawing her, yet Jean dodged gracefully. Eventually, her hit connected and she pinned her down. 

“IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED?”

She got brighter and brighter. 

The armor Jean donned started to melt. Her breath hastened, going uneven. 

Jean started stuttering, “I…I-”

Scarlet pushed her down, “I WILL DESTROY IT ALL, I-”

Suddenly, the hole in her heart felt pain. She looked behind her, the boy. He was panting, trying to catch his breath, yet she couldn’t see him coming.  

Her flames raged no more, the fire inside her burnt away. 

She sluggishly stood up. The remaining guards had their weapons prepared yet no one moved. 

Silence surrounded them. 

The darkened sky let out a tear, sizzling away the flames.

“Cedrix…”, She mumbled as she walked towards her light in the rain. 

She held him, hugged his lifeless body. Tears welled up  in her eyes. A smile appeared. 

“I…should have listened”. She said as her flames engulfed the both of them and what remained…were nothing.
