The days passed by yet the darkened sky never left. Its tears ceased, yet the clouds never left. Repairs were being done, homes were being built back up.
“So, what’s the casualty?”, Jean asked.
Aurum sighed. He started reading the paper in his hand.
“Besides the 40 injured guards and 50 injured civilians, much of the infrastructure were destroyed, but majority of the citizens were evacuated safely”
Jean took a breath.
“Thank you, you are dismissed”
Aurum stood there. HIs eyes never met hers.
“What’s wrong?”
“Are they…really corrupted?”, He asked.
Silence filled the room.
“What…do-”
“Why…did you decide to seal them…Master?”
He clenched the paper in his hand.
Jean sighed.
“As the knight of this kingdom, we follow the king’s orders, you are dismissed”
Their eyes met, yet he could only see the familiar emptiness in her eyes.
“I…see”.
He left the silent room.
Jean looked at her left hand, her trembling hand. She held her ring finger, calming her down. She looked out through the window and let out a sigh.
Meanwhile…in the Cave of Directions…a man was sitting on a mossy rock, staring into the blank wall.
“You don’t need to accompany me…Aurelia”
“Aron…”
“I made a promise that I would wait here…I will wait for her”
“Does she…mean that much?”
He looked at her.
“Well…I wanted to meet her here, alone…so…I am keeping my end”
She sighed. Walking towards him, she sat beside him.
“I am staying”
“Hmm?
“Someone has to keep you in check…I…I am not going to leave”
A smile appeared on his face.
“Okay…”
