I Just Wanted to Live

Standing outside

Standing outside

Jul 03, 2026

Standing outside his window—

was his boyfriend.

Kang Jun frowned in disbelief.

He slowly walked toward the small window and pushed it open.

The stranger stood there with his hands tucked inside his pockets, wearing the same calm expression as the night before.

Jun stared at him for a few seconds before finally speaking.

"What are you doing here?"

His voice was low but hurried.

"What if someone sees us? It's dangerous."

"You should leave. Right now."

The stranger didn't move.

A cool breeze drifted between them, carrying the faint smell of rain.

Jun's hair was caught by the wind, several strands falling over his eyes and blocking his vision.

Without saying a word, the stranger slowly raised his hand.

Jun instinctively tensed.

Instead of hurting him, the stranger gently brushed the loose strands of hair away from his face.

His fingers lingered for only a brief moment before he pulled his hand back.

"Your hair has gotten pretty long," he said casually.

"You should cut it."

Jun quickly pushed his hand away, his face filled with annoyance.

"Why did you come here?"

The stranger tilted his head slightly.

"Why are you being so harsh?"

"We agreed to be boyfriends, didn't we?"

Jun let out a quiet sigh and reluctantly nodded.

"Yeah... we did."

Even as he answered, his eyes kept darting from side to side, making sure nobody was walking nearby.

Only after confirming the street was empty did he look back at the stranger.

"Now tell me."

"Why did you come here?"

The stranger smiled faintly.

"Actually..."

"We never introduced ourselves."

"And we said we'd meet tomorrow, but we never decided where."

"So..."

"Tell me about yourself."

Jun immediately shook his head.

"Not now."

"We'll introduce ourselves tomorrow."

"As for the meeting place..."

He thought for a moment before pointing toward the end of the street.

"After the convenience store, keep walking straight."

"When you reach the intersection, turn right."

"At the very end, you'll see an old abandoned building."

"Meet me on the second floor."

"Around ten o'clock."

He looked at the stranger.

"Is that okay with you?"

Jun frowned.

"What?"

The stranger met his gaze without hesitation.

"We're going to kill the people who hurt you, right?"

For a moment, Jun said nothing.

Then he slowly lifted his head and looked straight into the stranger's eyes.

"Yes."

"I haven't forgotten."

"Not for a single second."

"Let's do it tomorrow."

"I'll never forget what they did to me."

The stranger studied his expression for a moment before asking,

"Do you have a plan?"

Jun nodded slowly.

"It's simple."

"Meet me at the abandoned building tomorrow."

"After that, we'll go together."

"Every person who abused me..."

"Every person who tortured me..."

"I want them all dead."

He clenched his trembling fists.

"We'll use a gun."

His voice remained calm, but the hatred behind it was impossible to hide.

"I want to look them in the eyes before they die."

"I want them to know how much I suffered because of them."

"I want them to understand what they turned me into."

His eyes slowly filled with tears.

But this time...

He didn't cry.

The tears never fell.

Instead, they burned with something he hadn't felt in years.

Anger.

Tomorrow...

He believed he would finally be free from the world of torture that had imprisoned him for so long.

For a while, neither of them spoke.

Only the sound of the wind drifted through the quiet night.

Finally, the stranger broke the silence.

"Then I'll get going."

"I'll see you tomorrow."

Jun simply nodded.

But the stranger didn't move.

Instead, he stood there, quietly looking at Jun for a few moments.

Then he suddenly asked,

"Can you come a little closer?"

Jun frowned.

"Why?"

The stranger pointed toward his face.

"There's something on your face."

"Let me get it."

After hesitating for a moment, Jun leaned a little closer to the window.

Before he could react—

the stranger gently pressed his lips against Jun's.

It lasted only a brief moment.

The stranger immediately stepped back.

"...Sorry."

Before Jun could say a single word, he turned around and hurried away.

Jun remained standing by the window.

He didn't chase after him.

He didn't call his name.

He simply stood there.

His face was completely blank, as if his mind had stopped processing everything that had just happened.

Several minutes passed before he finally closed the window.

He lay down on his bed without even changing his clothes.

His eyes remained fixed on the ceiling.

Sleep refused to come.

Then...

His heart began pounding.

He slowly placed a hand against his chest.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

He could feel every heartbeat beneath his palm.

It had never beaten like this before.

That...

had been his first kiss.

For the first time in his life, someone had kissed him with a tenderness he had never experienced.

He quietly touched his lips with his fingertips.

They still felt strangely warm.

He didn't understand why.
