The Fallen Betrayer

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Jul 20, 2026

A month has gone by; Bridgette still has a lot of time before she leaves the angel kingdom. She realized that her time was limited, so she made up her mind to locate the author Albert P. before it was too late. Tracking down the author was going to be a challenge, so she needed to search for hints that could guide her to his location.

Bridgette and Marvin made their way to the academy known as Achievers of the Youth. Marvin took the lead the whole time until he ran into someone he recognized.

"Oh hey, Bridgette, do you remember me from the mall restroom? I had no idea you were going to this academy. Don’t hesitate to talk to me. Sorry if I seem rude. On my left is Matilda; she’s been wearing contacts ever since she lost her glasses, and on my right is Rhiannon; she often looks mad, but she’s not angry all the time. That’s just how she is. And you already know my name. I’m usually full of energy, but sometimes I can be serious," said Hermione.

"You’re scaring her," Matilda said, placing her hand on Hermione’s shoulder. "No, I’m not," Hermione replied, turning to Matilda and brushing her hand away. "Yes, you are. You always act like this when someone new arrives," Rhiannon chimed in, crossing her arms. "It’s fine; I’ve never met people like you before. I’ve encountered some bad folks at my last academy, so this is refreshing," Bridgette said with a slight smile.

Marvin, noticing what was happening, chose to step in and interrupt their chat just before the bell rang. For the first time ever, Bridgette got to truly enjoy her first day at the academy. She made 3 new friends and met 2 of Marvin’s pals: Walter and Bruce.

At lunchtime, Bridgette, Marvin, Hermione, Matilda, Rhiannon, Walter, and Bruce gathered around a large circular table. They were all having a great time with their meals, chatting, and firing off lots of questions at Bridgette. She did her best to respond honestly, but Marvin intervened because they were making her feel uneasy.

“Wow, I’ve never seen this side of you before. What’s changed?” Walter asked. “I’m not sure what happened, but I think things shifted after the festival incident,” Marvin replied. “The festival incident? Isn’t that when Freddy, Giovanni, and Jason vanished into thin air?” asked Hermione. “I heard about that. Didn’t they go to that burned-down abandoned academy?” Matilda chimed in. “They definitely did. But why did those fools drag you along, Marvin?” Bruce questioned. “If I tell you guys, will you promise to keep it a secret?” Marvin whispered.

Everyone except Bridgette leaned in and listened closely, promising they wouldn't spill a word. Besides, the whole academy already knew, so why hide it?

"I can’t believe you actually met Stella face-to-face. Weren't you scared of her?" Rhiannon asked, covering her mouth. "I was definitely scared of her, but when I looked into her eyes, I noticed there was no fear. I think whatever she did, she kind of felt sorry for me," Marvin replied with a slight smile.

Meanwhile, Bridgette, lost in her own thoughts, wondered if Marvin recognized her by her eyes. She needed to be sure; her eyes had changed back to the color they used to be.

Lunchtime was over; everyone made their way back to class before the day wrapped up. When the final bell rang, it signaled the end of the school day.

As Bridgette walked towards the exit, she noticed a flyer on the bulletin board. It announced that the author of the book she borrowed from the library would be visiting tomorrow during lunch. Bridgette realized this was a great chance to chat with the author and learn more. Marvin was already waiting for her at the exit.

They both hurried off to Marvin’s parents' house.

Once they arrived, they sat down at the dining table, where some big news was about to be shared.

“I know this is quite unexpected since we just met a few days ago, Bridgette, but we will be leaving for a long time. Marvin knows where we are headed, so he can fill you in on everything,” said Marvin’s parents as they stepped out the door with their bags.

Marvin then explained to Bridgette where their parents were going and how they needed to stay close after school. Bridgette nodded, stood up, grabbed her backpack, and went to the room she was sharing with Marvin.

A little while later, she returns and sits alone on the living room couch with the book she borrowed from the library, beginning to read a secret chapter she discovered while browsing through the pages. Meanwhile, Marvin was doing the same thing, but he sat at the dining table working on his homework.

"Oh, you discovered the hidden chapter of this book. No one is aware that this chapter is here because I've noticed people return the book to the shelf after finishing it. Now that I have your attention, there's a bit of information I didn't mention at the start.

You remember Stella, right? The good news is that I found out where she was studying, but she seemed really distant. The beautiful long hair she used to have was cut into a bob. Her once angelic and amazing personality had turned sour and withdrawn. One day, I visited her, and to my surprise, she recognized me. She grabbed my hand and pulled me away to a spot away from her academy. I could see she was scared, but I was too frightened to ask her why. I finally asked her, 'Why the sudden appearance?' Stella told me that after Kian murdered his best friend Leonard, he had her under his control. She felt trapped, but when she learned she was transferring to a new academy, she ended things with Kian for good and cut all ties with him. I asked her why she chopped off her hair. She explained that once she got to the academy, everyone knew who she was. All the angel boys were drooling over her, making their girlfriends jealous. She realized her hair was distracting everyone, so she decided to cut it into a bob. The next day when she returned, nobody noticed her anymore. She liked it that way, but that didn’t stop her from being bullied by three angel girls. The bullying became so intense that her parents had to get involved, but the academy did nothing, so they had Stella's parents executed, and the academy blamed her for it. After she shared this with me, that was the last time I ever spoke to her, saw her, or heard from her."

To this day, I still don’t know if she’s alive or dead, but you might be curious about why I’m mentioning Stella. It’s for the foolish angels out there to show some respect for her name. You wouldn’t even be here in this kingdom if it weren’t for her.

"The author isn't mistaken; I actually played a role in founding this kingdom," Bridgette mumbled. She placed the book down, let out a big sigh, and headed back to Marvin's room to collect her homework.

Meanwhile, Marvin got up and took a seat on the other side of where Bridgette had been sitting. He quickly glanced at the book she was reading and made a face of disgust.

"Ugh, this book looks ancient, but why does she even have it? I wish I could just flip through its pages," Marvin mumbled. He scanned the area to see if Bridgette was close, opened the book to a random page, and couldn't make sense of the text.

"Enjoying something that doesn't belong to you?" Bridgette said, appearing behind Marvin. "How long have you been there?" "Not too long." "How do you even read this? It's such a weird language."

Bridgette snatched the book from Marvin's grip and returned to her seat. With a little fib, she told Marvin that she had known the strange language before arriving here. Marvin, completely oblivious, accepted her claim and sat there admiring Bridgette for a few moments until he looked away and went to the restroom.

"What’s wrong with me? Why was I staring at her? Sure, she’s pretty, but I just met her a month ago. We’re not even friends, so why is my heart racing?" Marvin thought, sitting on the floor with his hands over his eyes.

At the Demon Kingdom, everything was going smoothly with the lockdown, or so Blaze thought, even though he had some doubts.

"Shay, someone is trying to reach you." "Who is it, Ria?" "I have no idea; just go find Amon; he’ll know who it is."

Shay quickly flew over to Amon and asked him about the caller. Amon informed Shay that it was him, and she would be assisting Blaze with the lockdown. Shay followed Amon closely and soon met Blaze.

"Shay will be your partner until the lockdown ends; don’t worry, you’ll switch off with the others," Amon told Blaze before leaving. After Amon was gone, Blaze attempted to strike up a conversation with Shay, but it didn’t go anywhere.

Meanwhile, Shay was very focused on the outside, completing the few tasks Amon had assigned her. Eventually, both of them would come to understand the feelings they had for one another. But the question remained: who would take the first step? Blaze or Shay.
