The Fallen Betrayer

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Jul 27, 2026

The following day at the academy, Bridgette finds herself in her ancient language class with Beckett, Edwin, and some other students. The teacher, for the first time, had a bright smile on her face and said, “At the end of each month, we will go somewhere to learn something related to what we’ve already studied in class.” “That sounds exciting! Where are we headed?” Bridgette asked.

“Well, that’s for the class to decide. In the meantime, every Wednesday, we’ll be going to the library to pick a book and write a research paper." The teacher continued explaining that there would be some changes in the classroom soon and that many historical speakers would be visiting.

Just then, the bell rang, signaling the end of class.

Edwin was the first to leave, followed by Beckett, then Bridgette, and the rest of the class.

"Hey, Bridgette, wait for me,” Beckett shouted. “Sorry, I’m a little busy,” Bridgette replied without turning around. “Hey, she’s not interested; just leave her be,” Marvin chimed in. “And who are you to say that?” Beckett retorted. “I’m her friend. I’m just looking out for her. I know what kind of person you are. If you want to annoy someone else, go bother Hermione. She’s got the biggest crush on you,” Marvin said as he walked to his class.

In science class, Bridgette is sitting next to Clyde, Matilda, and Rhiannon.

"Can’t the teacher talk about something else besides angel evolution?" Clyde yawned. "Shut up. You're the only one who complains about everything you find boring," Rhiannon replied. "I agree. Why don’t you just move or sit somewhere else?" Matilda suggested, looking at Bridgette for support. "There are no other seats, and not everyone is nice to me; they treat me like trash, or even worse, like Cupid," Clyde said, leaning back in his chair.

"Aren’t you Cupid? That’s all you think about whenever you see a boy and girl together. Why don’t you use your magic and pair Hermione and Beckett?" Rhiannon asked while working on her assignment. "I can’t do that. They aren’t compatible." "Not compatible? I think Beckett and that girl next to Matilda would be a good match," Clyde said, pointing in Rhiannon's direction.

Rhiannon turned to see Bridgette helping Matilda, then turned back and told Clyde that she was off-limits. The bell rang, and all three girls hurried to grab a table for lunch, leaving Clyde behind.

"Hey Clyde, can you do me a favor?" Beckett whispered in Clyde’s ear.

In the cafeteria, Rhiannon is sharing with Hermione what Clyde told her during science class.

"He mentioned that I’m not a good match for Beckett, and that he’s much better off with Bridgette," Hermione said, casting a glance at Bridgette. Just then, Marvin and his two friends approached them before Beckett arrived at the table to recite a poem for Bridgette.

After finishing, he asked her out right in front of Hermione, but she turned him down.

"I’m sorry, but no. I’m not interested." "How can you not be interested in someone like me? I have the looks and I’m way more charming than anyone else here," he replied. "No offense, but no. Try asking someone else." "C'mon, just give me a chance."

Bridgette kept saying 'no' over and over until she said something that left everyone at the table feeling uneasy.

"My first love was killed by his best friend. I promised myself I wouldn’t fall in love again because of that," Bridgette said, getting up from the table. "I should go after her," Marvin said, but his friend Bruce stopped him. "Marvin, I know you want to be there for someone when they’re upset, but sometimes they just need some space. You can do that as her friend, right?" Bruce encouraged Marvin to sit back down.

"I agree with Bruce. She’s still new here, so giving her some space is a good idea," Matilda added. "But is it really true what she said about her first love being murdered? That’s really shocking to hear," Hermione said, feeling a bit guilty.

Beckett gradually moved away from the table and accidentally ran into Edwin and Clyde.

"How did your proposal go?" shouted Clyde. "Shh, why do you have to be so loud?" Edwin replied, clearly annoyed. "It didn't work at all. I guess the magic from that poem you gave me didn't have any effect on her. She turned me down and said something totally unexpected," Beckett explained, staring at the ground for a few moments before looking up and walking off.

Clyde began to piece together why his magic had failed on her, but Edwin interrupted him.

"Whoa. Whatever you're thinking, don't try that. It’s risky! You know you could get into trouble again if you use that 'magic' on someone who wasn't affected. Remember the last time you used it, and everyone ignored you? You’re lucky I showed up just in time to save you from humiliation. Bridgette seems pretty new still; think about it," Edwin said as he walked away. Meanwhile, Clyde wasn’t going to let this go easily.

In the demon kingdom, Blaze finds himself in Amon's chamber, having been summoned by him earlier while he was on break from guarding outside with Shay.

"What exactly are we looking for?" Blaze asked. "I'm about to share something with you, but you must keep it a secret—no telling anyone, not even my father or the whole kingdom," Amon replied. He then revealed to Blaze that Stella had mentioned an ancient scroll to him. However, the bigger issue was that her chamber was heavily guarded, making it tough for anyone to sneak in.

"I've never been inside her chamber before, but her instructions were crystal clear. You, however, will stay here until I return with the scroll in hand," Amon stated before leaving.

He walked down the corridor to Stella's chamber, where the lost souls guarding it allowed him entry. Once inside, he quickly scanned the room and spotted an uncolored drawer. Approaching the drawer, he opened the second cubby and found the ancient scroll. Before leaving, he glanced at her desk, which had unfinished work, but something unusual caught his attention.

He noticed a photograph of a young man, covered in red scribbles with words like "murdered," "monster," and "die in the fire." Amon hurriedly exited her chamber to return to his own. When he got back, he found Blaze asleep while standing.

"Wake up! Don't sleep until it's your turn!" Amon shouted. "I'm awake! Did you manage to find it?" Blaze asked, still looking sleepy. Amon showed Blaze the ancient scroll before hiding it in a place where no one would discover it. "I know I never asked you for a favor, but this is more of a suggestion," Amon said.

"What can I do for you?" Blaze replied. "Stella asked me to teach you how to write on a scroll so you can communicate with her whenever you want. That's my suggestion. Also, could you please help me find someone associated with the three words: "murdered," "monster," and "die in the fire"? I noticed a picture on her desk, but there was no name attached to it."

Blaze kept his word as he exited Amon’s chamber, making his way to soul building. He approached his staff, inquiring if there was a name linked to the three words he had received. One of his staff members discovered the name but informed him that he would need to visit Hades if he wanted to meet this ‘name’ in person. Blaze took the route to the underworld, where only darkness prevailed, illuminated by a hint of purple lightning.

He confronted Hades' throne, and Hades himself stepped out from the shadows.

“Blaze. How can I assist you?” Hades asked in a low voice. “One of my staff mentioned that you have a name here related to the three words: murdered, monster, die in the fire. Amon requested to know who this person is. He found a picture in Stella's chamber on her desk, but it didn’t have a name,” Blaze explained, gazing into Hades' deep-blue eyes.

“Alright. Let me send a lost soul to find this 'no name, three words' for you.”

Hades summoned a lost soul and instructed it to bring him a person that fit the description, and the lost soul replied softly, “Yes.”

After about five more minutes, the lost soul returned with the person who matched the criteria in front of Hades. The lost soul exited, going back to its duties, while the person stood there, bowing to Hades in chains.

“Are you the no-name with three words?” Hades inquired. “Yes. I’m the no-name in three words. Can I ask why you were looking for me?” the no-name responded. “This soul leader summoned you to speak with you directly. Now go and follow his orders,” Hades said, stepping back into the shadows.

Blaze took hold of one of the chains binding the nameless hands, pulling him back to the demon kingdom, where Amon was secretly waiting for him in a nearby tunnel.

"Is that the no name from the picture on my half-sister’s desk?" Amon asked, studying the soul of the young man. "Yes. Hades said that this is the person described by the three words, and he came from his lost soul to find him. I need to leave now; Shay is waiting for me at the same spot," Blaze replied, making his way out of the tunnel towards Shay.

"Tell me your name! Why does my half-sister Stella have a picture of you on her desk?" Amon demanded in a menacing voice. "Stella? She’s here? Where? I need to talk to her," the no-name responded. "You know Stella? How do you know her?" "Stella and I go way back, many years ago when we both lived in the city of angels [angel kingdom]. She was my first and last love until I died unexpectedly."

"Stella never told me about this. She hardly has time to talk to anyone since she’s busy with queen duties." "Oh, so she’s the queen of the angel kingdom?" "Angel kingdom? No, she’s the queen of the demon kingdom. After my father Komoku was raised from the ground, Stella joined him and was never seen again. Now, she’s back in the angel kingdom under a new identity, doing whatever until she returns." "So she went back to the place where it all happened, interesting. If you take me back to the underworld, my name is Kian Riddleson."

Amon opened a portal to the underworld, and Kian jumped in, landing in darkness surrounded by dust before the portal closed.

"Kian Riddleson? Stella will have a lot to share about this person when she returns."
