The Fallen Betrayer

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Jul 31, 2026

Komoku is sitting in his chamber in the demon kingdom, stressed and exhausted. "It’s only been a month by the angel’s calendar, but here, it feels like forever.

"Why did I choose to put the whole kingdom on lockdown? Stella seems to be having a good time, but that boy seems to be getting closer to her. Who is Albert P., and how does he know Stella?" Komoku said as he shut his eyes. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and Amon announced his presence to his father.

"I warned you that sending her back to her hometown was a bad idea, but you didn’t listen to me."

Amon pulled up a chair to sit down comfortably.

"Still, why did I give her a year? I’m too worn out to think while dealing with Hades. Speaking of him, why did you send Blaze down there?" "Um, because I needed a favor, and he’s braver than I am when it comes to facing Hades."

"What favor was it?" "Don’t get mad at me, but I wanted to find out about someone I saw in Stella’s chamber, well, a picture." "You went into her chamber and snooped around?" "Yes, but I already spoke to the person in the picture. He told me his name is Kian Riddleson."

As soon as he heard the name, Komoku opened his eyes and flew over to where Amon was sitting. He glared at him with his red eyes and warned, "Amon, listen closely. Don’t get involved with him. He’s trouble. He’s worse than Hades himself; that’s why Stella sent him to Hades, not here, after she became the queen of the demon kingdom because he’s so dangerous. I advise you not to talk to him. Whatever he asks you, like about Stella, don’t say anything. If I find out you help him escape from the underworld and he comes here, the consequences from the kingdom will be severe, really severe, and you’ll have to face them."

Amon exited his father's chamber and returned to his own, where the scroll lay undisturbed. He unrolled the scroll and read Stella's message. This time, he didn’t respond as he normally would; instead, he got up and headed to a spot in the kingdom where, for the first time ever, he made a difference.

Meanwhile, in the underworld, where the most ruthless lost souls toil until they atone for their sins or are left to decay, Kian Riddleson was scheming.

"Stella, still alive after all these years. After I died, I had no idea what happened to her. She never came to see me at my grave. That’s a letdown. Thanks to her half-brother, I finally got the news I was looking for. All I need to do is break free from here, get to the demon kingdom, disguise myself, and locate the hidden door that leads back to the angel kingdom. Once I’m there, I will confront her and reveal her true identity. But what I can’t figure out is why I’m stuck in this pit while Leonard is up above. I was a good angel, or at least I used to be, until someone from the demon kingdom sent me here with Hades."

Hades made his way to his throne after keeping an eye on every soul, including the 'no-name' soul that his staff discovered.

"After Stella sent that soul here, I realized he was no ordinary soul. He had far more evil within him than I do. If he ever escapes my realm, I will pursue him and drag him into a darkness deeper than he has ever known," Hades contemplated as he sat on his throne, shutting his eyes.

Bridgette, still within the portal from the statue, began to look for any hints related to her first love and her wicked ex. However, she stumbled upon something she recalled seeing while she was with Kian. She picked up an item before making her way back.

As she was returning, Kian’s shadow suddenly appeared before her.

"My beauty, it’s been years. You’ve returned to my arms. I always knew you loved me. Forget about Leonard. You two were never a match. You and I were meant to be together," Kian’s shadow declared before vanishing into thin air.

Bridgette managed to leave just as Marvin finished his phone call.

"Sorry for the long call. My parents wanted to check in on us to see if everything was okay. We should head back; it’s getting late," Marvin said, not glancing at her. They both reached his house, where neither of them looked at or spoke to each other.

"I didn’t know an angel could enter a physical object like that. She’s hiding something from me. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen her do something like this, just like at the mall the other day in the salon, but I’d rather not ask her," Marvin thought, watching her as she walked into the room.

The silence in the atmosphere was heavy.

In the room where Bridgette was alone, with no Marvin in sight, her secret identity began to reveal itself even more. She had tried numerous times to conceal it with mixed magic, but it was useless.

She decided to open the box she had taken from her abandoned house and look for a little note that Leonard had written for her, in case she faced difficulties. She eventually found the note and whispered it softly, transforming back into her original angel form.

"I just realized that I’ve been using my mixed magic so frequently here, and maybe that’s why it’s not working. I should have never learned mixed magic from Kian years ago," Bridgette thought as she left the room to go to the window where the living room was and stared.

2-3 months went by; Bridgette took her first field trip with her ancient language class. Some surprising things happened during the trip, where Edwin and Beckett almost figured out who she really was.

They visited a sacred monument, copying the "old ancient language" that was written on the wall there. They set up camp under the monument, with boys and girls separated on either side; the boys were taking turns showering and joking around. Meanwhile, the girls were also showering and quietly returning to their tents.

After Bridgette finished her shower, she went to her tent to change, but then two shadowy figures loomed over her tent. By that time, she was already dressed when Edwin and Beckett opened the tent and noticed her hair and eyes were different colors.

"Did you dye your hair and change your eyes?" Edwin asked, pointing at her. "Your wings are changing color too," Beckett added, pointing as well. Bridgette grabbed a small mirror and looked at herself. She turned to them and pushed them away, running off to escape.

After that, she began to keep her distance from both of them. They haven't talked since that day.

Hermione and Bruce strolled hand in hand until they reached a vending machine to grab a drink before she noticed Beckett approaching.

"So, he's my replacement?" Beckett chuckled loudly. "Yes, he is. And honestly, he's way better than you, especially when it comes to academics. Excuse me, nobody, I need to get back to class," Hermione said as she bumped into his shoulder.

Beckett glanced at the vending machine and, in its reflection, spotted Walter and Marvin. He quickly grabbed his drink and walked off.

"What's up with him?" Walter asked, looking back at Beckett before turning to the vending machine. "No idea. He started acting like that after he got back from the field trip a month ago," Marvin replied while scanning his ID to choose two drinks.

"Just ignore him. That's what he deserves for being a jerk." "Whatever you say."

They both grabbed their drinks and made their way back to class.

As soon as the bell rang, everyone began to leave the academy, leaving Bridgette alone in the computer lab.

"I can't find anything on this browser. This computer doesn't know anything about history. How would Marvin handle this? Think like Marvin, what would he do? Got it! So, this bowl is useless, but how did Kian end up with it if it belonged to Leonard?" she pondered while logging off and exiting the computer lab.
