The Fallen Betrayer

Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Aug 03, 2026

She headed over to her old friend's place, making herself comfortable.

"Albert P., can we chat?" Bridgette called out in the dimly lit living room. "What do you want to discuss? That bowl, please take a seat while I grab my materials," Albert P. replied, stepping out of his room before retreating to fetch them.

He returned, settled onto the couch, and began examining the bowl for the next five minutes.

"This is a real bowl. I recall Leonard was searching for it, but he never managed to find it. How did you come across it?" "It's a bit of a long story. When I touched the statue of Kian, I felt something. I opened a portal and discovered it there." "I had no idea an angel could do that." "I'm actually a demon, well, half angel and half demon. But why did Kian have this bowl?"

"I know it sounds silly, but this bowl is worth a lot. It has the original ancient language inscribed all around it. Kian took the chance to steal it from Leonard's home to sell it." "That seems really selfish of him." "It definitely does. In the meantime, keep it safe. If you ever get the chance to go to heaven and see Leonard, make sure to give it to him."

Albert P. opened the door for Bridgette to leave, just as Marvin appeared at the threshold.

"Am I interrupting something?" Marvin asked, arms crossed. "You must be Marvin. And no, you weren't interrupting anything. I'm just an old friend of Bridgette," Albert P. said, adjusting his glasses before closing the door.

Bridgette began to take off before Marvin could grab her arm.

"This is where you go after the academy," Marvin said with a sad expression. "Yeah, but this time I really needed to ask him about something I found in the box I was holding. You know, it’s really not cool that you’re following me around," Bridgette replied, turning to give him a furious glare.

She pulled her arm free from his hold and soared away, leaving him behind.

"Bridgette, you’ve turned into a different person. I don’t know what happened during the field trip, but I can tell you’re keeping something from me," Marvin said, gazing up at the sky before taking off. Albert P. looked out from the window, went to his room, and pulled out a scroll that Leonard had given him. He decided to write to him and send the scroll to heaven by tossing it into his chimney, sending it up into the sky.

Kane and Shane, the only twin brothers in the demon kingdom, made their way to the underworld to carry out Hades' orders. They reached the spot where Hades awaited them on his throne.

"The demon twin boys. It's been a while. Here, finish these tasks before returning here." Kane grabbed the scroll while Shane followed closely behind him. They visited each jail cell where lost souls were imprisoned. They checked off everything until they reached the final lost soul.

"Kian, please respond when I’m speaking to you," yelled Shane while rattling the bars. "Are you deaf, Kian? Answer us when we talk to you," Kane shouted even louder until Kian finally came out of his hiding place. "Were you talking to me? I didn’t hear you," Kian lied right to their faces.

"Do you really think you can deceive us with your tricks? That won’t work on us; remember, we are demons. We were born this way before you. And if you’re trying to escape like you have so many times before, Hades has already set up your special chamber," Kane said, sealing the hole in the ground with his demon magic before turning to leave and head back to Hades to submit the scroll before returning to the demon kingdom.

"How did it go in the underworld?" Aiden asked. "Not too bad, but that annoying lost soul is really getting on our nerves," Shane replied, sitting down on the floor in his chamber with his twin brother, Aiden; Nate; Bethany; and Scarlett.

"You mean Kian?" Bethany asked, glancing at Shane. "Yep. I just wish Hades would stop sending us there all the time with him," Kane said, looking down. "Why is he there anyway? Wasn't he here before Komoku told Stella to send him to the underworld?" Scarlett asked, gazing at Nate, waiting for him to explain.

"He did something terrible. "He killed someone who was really important to him out of jealousy," Nate answered Scarlett's question. "How did you find out about this?" Aiden asked. "I was there when Stella read his description and kicked him out of the kingdom," Bethany said, standing up and pulling Scarlett to leave the twin demon boys' chamber before it got too late.

They followed Nate, then Aiden, and exited the chamber.

Amon, who was next door, overheard their thoughts about everything they discussed and went to the soul leader collection, where Blaze allowed him to check the old files whenever he wanted. He walked over to the drawer with chains and carefully took out the dark, shadowy file labeled "Kian Riddleson: The most evil angel in the history of the angel kingdom."

He opened the file, and the words began to rearrange themselves in the ancient language. Amon, who understood the language, whispered the words, put the file back in the drawer, and flew away. What he discovered in that file left him in shock.

"So, he and Stella were an item before? He’s the one who took the life of someone close to him. Now, he’s out for revenge against Stella for nearly revealing who he really is, and he plans to kill her just like he did his best friend. He’s definitely not a good guy; he’s a monster for taking innocent lives, including those of his first girlfriend and his teacher. Everything is starting to click now. That’s why he was sent to the underworld to atone for his wrongdoings," Amon said, his face twisted in anguish as he made his way to his chamber to inform Stella about his findings.

He wrote it down on a scroll, opened a portal, and sent it off to Stella. But the scroll took an unexpected route and ended up in heaven. It landed on a soft white cloud that turned into dark smoke.

An angel nearby found the scroll, picked it up, and hid it in his realm. He let the smoky scroll hover in the air and began to read it.

"Fascinating. So Kian is still alive and wants to kill Stella, just like he did to me. What a hypocrite! I should see if I can send this scroll to Stella through this tunnel. In the meantime, I’ll pay her a visit at the angel kingdom," Leonard said as he rolled up the scroll, secured it with a string, and sent it into a secret tunnel leading to the angel kingdom.

Bridgette burst into Marvin’s house before he could stop her.

"Bridgette, you’re keeping something from me. How can an angel just open a portal like that? And how did you manage that magic on the hairdresser at the mall the other day? You can tell me," Marvin urged, blocking every escape route Bridgette tried.

"I, I can’t tell you." "Why not?" "Because it’s a secret ancient technique that only the chosen ones can perform." Marvin, looking suspicious, didn’t budge. He moved closer and whispered in her ear, "Is that true? Then explain why you keep visiting that old friend of yours when I’m not around."

He stepped back, waiting for her answer, but they were interrupted when the door swung open. They both turned to see Marvin’s parents returning from their company vacation.

"Mom, Dad, you’re back already? I thought you wouldn’t be home until next week," Marvin said, hugging them. Bridgette stood there, staring at the floor for a few moments before heading to the balcony.

"Well, the vacation ended suddenly because we received a warning that something evil is approaching," Marvin’s dad explained. "Honey, don’t say that. You’ll scare him even more," Marvin’s mom replied, playfully hitting her husband. "Where’s Bridgette?" she asked, setting down her luggage while Marvin’s dad took it to their room. "Oh, she’s right here—oh, she’s on the balcony," Marvin said, grabbing her arm.

"Did you two have another fight?" "Yes. But Mom, she’s keeping something from me, and she won’t share it." "Son, sometimes women prefer to keep things private that they’re not ready to discuss. The more you pressure her, the more uncomfortable she’ll feel. She’ll open up when she’s ready. Come on, I’ll give you some golden coins so you and she can go to the store and talk it over," Marvin’s mom said, handing him some golden coins before heading to her room to rest.

"Thanks for coming to the store with me," Marvin said nervously, clutching the plastic bag filled with fruits as they headed home. "No problem at all," Bridgette replied, avoiding eye contact. "Bridgette, do you think I was too harsh on you?" "You mean, following me around and pressuring me to answer your questions, where your mom is right that you’re making me uncomfortable? Then yes, you’re definitely being harsh."

"I’m really sorry. I don’t know what got into me. Before I met you, I was just this shy, timid person who got bullied all the time, but after those three left, I completely changed. My friends noticed and they seem proud of how much stronger I’ve become."

"So, you’re saying you regret meeting me?" "I don’t regret it at all, thanks for helping me become a better person." "You know, I was bullied by three angel girls too. At the academy I attended, the administration did nothing about it; they just ignored it. The teachers didn’t even show any empathy when I was being picked on." "Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. What happened to those three bullies?"

"They were sent to the demon kingdom." "The demon kingdom? You mean the one below us?" "Yes, silly, the demon kingdom. Did you know that heaven is right above us?" "I knew that, but I didn’t realize we were above another kingdom."

"Imagine this: heaven is at the very top, then there’s us, the angel kingdom, followed by the demon kingdom, and finally the underworld." "Wow. The underworld? I read some books about that when I was younger, but they’re banned because they don’t want any angels reading about it."

Marvin and Bridgette shared a good laugh and had a great conversation as they arrived back home.
