The Politicians

The Politicians

Jul 06, 2026

"Miella Beauxregard has arrived, Your Majesty!" A guardsman said.
The first of the two to arrive was Miella.
She arrived clearly expecting to be summoned, perhaps for her charitable donations of food and supplies.
White 4c curls were made into a high bun, black kohl was worn around her sharp brown eyes.
She bowed causing her beaded copper dress to clatter against each other.
"What is your request, your Majesty?" She said.
BANG BANG BANG
The second of the two had arrived.
Vita Baker on the other hand wore a white toga. This was proper for her station as a politican. Her braided hair jangled with many shiny beads. Vita focused on village reconstruction for those who lost them in the latest violent plant attacks.
"Your Majesty, I am at your service!" She smiled.
As she smiled her mouth stretched a little too far to be human.
Jascot sighed and leaned back on his throne. Was being a wealthy king worth it when he had to deal with these two? He did not know. As soon as the kingdom was prosperous he could raise taxes and a more luxurious throne.
If one of them could do it? He would shove his son out of his position as heir.
"Vita and Miella, I have heard of the deeds you've done for the Bloodlands. I will give you two tasks. Your first task is to return life and prosperity to the land or bring back a source of sustenance that will thrive even here. " King Jascot said.
The ladies' faces turned contemplative.
"The second is to find the source of the famine and bring it to me. Dead or alive." Jascot stated.
Miella fell to her knees. "My liege I fear that my family ,though powerful, will not have enough resources to fund such a mission." She wailed. Her lips trembling like a toddler.
Vita willed herself not to roll her eyes and in turn smiled wider. "Not this bullshit again." She thought.
"I will provide you two with transportation in your efforts and a reward if you are successful. I shall name a city after whoever is successful and you will be my heir."
Miella quickly rose up and bowed "As you will it, my king." Her bright white teeth flashed into a grin. The tears still dangling from her eyelashes.
Vita bowed too "As you will it."
"You may leave," King Jascot said.
He needed some wine and a lot of it. Too bad his day was booked with complaints from the commoners.
