One kid was unconscious. The other kid was groaning and howling in pain at the ground. His nose was badly bleeding.

Despite his shirt and pants soaking in blood, Lucien staggered towards his sister to check on her condition.

Her face was dirty because of dirt and tears mixed together. She tried to sat up and hugged Lucien when he kneeled in front of her.

“Lucien… hic… sniff…” She was howling and crying her eyes out.

Lucien smiled and brush his hand on her wet dirty hair.

“Sis, are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?”

While still crying, she shook her head.

“That’s goo -”

Lucien choked. He felt something hard, thin and sharp stabbed him at the back.

“Lucieen!!!!” Leila screamed.

She looked wide - eyed at the long knife sticking out at Lucien’s back, then at her student who just stabbed him.

“Leila!!!” It was also the same time Dan arrived accompanied with five policemen.

Lucien still heard the student screamed, “Fuck you!” before trying to run in different direction. But another group of policeman appeared at the end of the alley and apprehended the student who attempted to run away.

Lucien saw the student still had his nose bleeding profusely. And he felt proud for doing that.

Because of the extreme pain, his vision started to blur.

“Lucien, stay with me. Lucien!”

Lucien’s ears are ringing. He did not notice he had already collapsed on his sister’s lap. Dan hurriedly ran to their side.

The police who came with him immediately called for the paramedics. Dan tried to stop the blood from coming out of Lucien’s wounds but it still keeps leaking.

“Lucien, Lucien. Stay with me buddy.”

“Lucien! Hic… please…”

Lucien can hear his sister crying. He can vaguely see their faces zooming in and out. But his vision became so extremely blurry that he couldn’t see their faces. Only their figures.

Well, Leila was already safe. Dan is a good man. If I die today, I don’t have any regrets. Lucien thought.

Too bad I will never see my nephew.

Lucien closed his eyes. And all the sounds died down. He can’t feel or see anything. Everything blacked out.

Lucien was not sure how much time had passed. Suddenly, his consciousness was stirred. He can hear computer sound effects beeping in his ears.

Am I still at work? I should wake up.

Lucien forcibly tore his eyes open. And what he saw shocked him.

Multiple screens keep popping up, surrounding him on all sides. Aside from this glaring blue screen, all he can see is darkness.

“Where am I?”

He stood up and tried to touch one of the blue screens. However, his palm only pass through.

It’s hovering in the air? Is this possible?

“Crap, why do I feel like I’m inside a game?”

The blue screens all have the same messages. It reads:

“If you want to get out of here and go back to your world. We have a mission we will ask you to do. If you pass, you get to go back. If you fail, you will die.”

“If you are interested, please click Yes.”

There is no “No” or “Exit" button. Only “Yes.”

“Why ask if I’m interested when you only give me one option?”

Lucien scoffed. He ignored the screens in front of him and chose to lie down. He closed his eyes and slept.

Since it was all darkness, Lucien couldn’t tell how much time had passed. He did indeed sleep. And when he woke up, he saw another question has been added on the blue screens.

“If you need time to think it over, I can provide you more information as to what the mission is, what you need to do etc. If interested, please click “Yes” to confirm.”

Lucien sighed.

What kind of mission is this thing trying to make him do?

“You want me to collect 3 pure tears or something?”

Lucien considered it and then shook his head. If that were really the case, he would fail from the start. Aside from his sister, he doesn’t have any friends.

He was quiet, timid and shy. Ever since elementary school, he hang out with his classmates just because they talk to him first. He was that go with the flow type of student.

If the first person who talk to him is a very hard working student, he will work hard in his studies too. But if they are delinquents and love to go cutting classes, he will also do that too.

At high school, he became a nerdy type. But he wasn’t bullied. Purely because his sister is a campus beauty and her boyfriend, Dan, is a student council president.

In short, he might have few acquaintances but he doesn’t have friends that will definitely cry purely for him.

Just like earlier, only the ‘Yes’ button is available. He hovered his index finger over the ‘Yes’ button and it clicked.

All the screens disappeared. And a square projector like screen appeared. On it, a beautiful man’s face was showing.

Lucien was amazed at how handsome he is. He has black hair, bright red eyes and a flawless face. Was this guy some top international idol or something?

As the view gets farther, Lucien cannot control his mouth from gaping wide. The handsome man is wearing a shiny armor on top of his black overalls. A gleaming silver sword was on his right hand.

He was standing alone in a small hill. And a hundred kilometers away, a thousand army of soldiers in full battle armor are marching towards him.

“This is a world of magic. For hundred of years, humans have been fighting off demons and its ever stronger force.”
