I Just Wanted to Live

Free Bird

Free Bird

Jul 27, 2026

Free Bird🕊️

"Let's end it."

"Let's kill every person who traumatized my life."

The moment those words left Jun's mouth, fear spread across the room.

Several people instinctively stepped back.

Others dropped to their knees, their faces drained of color as they desperately pleaded for mercy.

A few rushed toward the door, fumbling with the handle in panic.

It wouldn't open.

They pulled harder.

Again.

And again.

It was locked.

There was no escape from the nightmare that Kang Jun and the stranger had brought upon them.

Outside, rain poured relentlessly from the darkened sky.

The streets were eerily silent.

Not a single person walked outside.

Every door and every window remained tightly shut, as though the entire neighborhood had unknowingly hidden itself from what was unfolding.

Inside the room, terror had replaced every trace of arrogance.

One by one, they fell to their knees.

Hands folded together, voices trembling, they begged for forgiveness.

From the crowd, a woman cried out through her tears.

"Jun... Jun..."

"Please..."

"Why are you doing this to us?"

"Please let us go..."

"Please..."

Her voice cracked as she lowered her head, sobbing uncontrollably.

jun " what why am I doing this you were talking like you don't know anything"

once every one think what happened to me

did anyone see me smiling any day

did anyone see me happy

because of you and those gangster's and my mother I lost my childhood.

Jun looked at them with hollow eyes.

"What?"

"Why am I doing this?"

"You're asking me that as if you don't know anything."

He slowly looked around the room.

"Tell me..."

"Did any of you ever stop and think about what happened to me?"

"Did any of you ever see me smile?"

"Did any of you ever see me happy?"

"Because of you..."

"Because of those gangsters..."

"And because of my own mother..."

"I lost my childhood."

"I never experienced love."

"I never experienced warmth."

"I wanted to go to school."

"I wanted to go to college."

"I wanted to get a job."

"I wanted to get married..."

"I wanted to have children."

"I dreamed of living an ordinary life."

"But every one of you stole that dream from me."

He paused for a moment.

"I never slept peacefully."

"I never had a proper meal."

"Not once did anyone ask me if I had eaten."

"When I cried..."

"No one asked me what was wrong."

"No one reached out to help me."

His eyes remained fixed on them.

"But now..."

"I've stopped crying."

"For the first time in my life..."

"I'm free to choose my own path."

A faint smile slowly appeared on his face.

"So..."

"I'm going to take every one of your lives..."

"...and finally become a free bird."

Without saying a word, the stranger reached into his jacket and handed a handgun to Jun.

Jun stared at it for a few seconds before looking back at him.

"...How do I use this?" he asked quietly.

The stranger answered in a calm voice.

"Just aim..."

"...and pull the trigger."

"That's all?"

"Yeah."

Silence filled the room.

The air grew unbearably heavy.

No one dared to breathe.

Every person in the room realized that the next few moments would decide their fate.

Jun slowly tightened his grip around the gun.

His hands no longer trembled.

He raised it.

A loud gunshot shattered the silence.

The room fell deathly quiet.

The people froze.

The woman who had once controlled Jun collapsed to the floor without another word.

For several long seconds...

No one moved.

Fear consumed every face in the room.

One after another, the remaining people realized there was nowhere left to run.

When everything finally fell silent...

The stranger looked at Jun.

His expression remained unreadable.

"Is it over?"

"Or is there anyone else?"

Jun slowly lifted his head.

His eyes were no longer filled with fear.

"It's not over yet."

He looked toward the broken window, as rain continued to pour outside.

"There are still the gangsters..."

He paused.

"...and my mother."

"The one who turned my life upside down."

The stranger looked at Jun.

"Then let's leave this place."

He glanced at him for a moment.

"Do you know where your mother lives?"

Jun nodded.

"...Yeah."

"It's not far from here."

Then he hesitated.

"But... what about the bodies?"

"What if the police find us?"

The stranger's expression didn't change.

"They won't."

"After we leave, some people will come and clean everything."

Jun looked at him for a moment before giving a slow nod.

"...Okay."

Before leaving, Jun turned around one last time.

His eyes wandered across the room.

The room that had stolen his childhood...

The room that had become his prison...

Now stood completely silent.

As he took another step—

Something suddenly grabbed his ankle.

Jun froze.

He slowly looked down.

It was the pimp.

She was still alive.

Her trembling hand clung weakly to his leg.

Fear instantly rushed through Jun's body.

His breathing became uneven.

His chest tightened.

An asthma attack began to set in.

Without a second thought, the stranger stepped forward and made sure she could no longer threaten Jun.

As the last of her strength faded, she looked at Jun.

A faint smile appeared on her lips.

"I'll make your life... even more miserable..."

Her hand slowly slipped away.

Silence returned.

Jun remained frozen.

Even after she was gone...

Those final words refused to leave his mind.

The stranger gently took Jun's hand.

"It's okay."

"Let's go."

"I parked my bike outside."

"We'll head to your mother's house."

He looked at Jun.

"Is that okay with you?"

Jun nodded.

"...Yeah."

"That's fine."

The stranger smiled faintly.

"Then let's leave."

Outside, he handed Jun a helmet.

"Here."

"This one's yours."

"I have mine."

He put on his own helmet before swinging a leg over the motorcycle.

Jun quietly climbed onto the back seat.

The stranger glanced over his shoulder.

"Jun."

"Hold on tight."

"We're going faster than you've ever seen before."

A small smile appeared on Jun's face.

"...Okay."

He carefully wrapped his arms around the stranger's waist.

The engine roared to life.

A moment later—

The motorcycle shot forward.

The powerful wind rushed against Jun's face.

His hair danced wildly in the air.

Tears streamed from the corner of his eyes, carried away by the speed.

He looked at the endless road stretching before them.

The sun slowly began sinking toward the horizon.

For the first time...

His heart wasn't filled with fear.

It was filled with hope.

As the wind brushed against his face, Jun quietly closed his eyes.

Countless thoughts began to flood his mind.

I've started doing terrible things.

I've taken lives with my own hands...

And I'm going to take even more.

But...

I don't feel guilty.

Why should I?

Because of them... I lost my childhood.

They hurt me.

They broke me.

They destroyed everything I ever dreamed of.

Even then...

I never fought back.

I accepted my fate.

His arms unconsciously tightened around the stranger.

But ever since I met him...

Everything has changed.

He told me to change my destiny.

He told me to live my own life.

The warmth...

The kindness...

The love I had never experienced...

I received it from a stranger whose name I still don't know.

Even so...

He's risking his life for me.

A small smile appeared on Jun's face.

From today onward...

I'm going to experience all the things I never could before.

I don't want to live just for today anymore.

I want to live tomorrow...

And the day after that.

I want to live for a hundred years.

No...

If I could...

I'd spend a thousand years with him.

"I wanted tomorrow to come... because he would be there."

Maybe one day... we'd have a small house.

Just the two of us.

And

A dog running through the yard.

A lazy cat sleeping by the window.

Maybe one day...

We could even adopt a child.

A family.

A home.

A life.

Jun closed his eyes for a moment.

For the first time...

The future no longer frightened him.

It gave him something he had never possessed before.

Hope.
