The Butterfly of Agra

Among the butterflies

Among the butterflies

Jul 30, 2026

In one moment Yug decided to change his lifestyle. Knowing that he had barely 3 months for this, he prepared himself in two areas: mentally and physically. Yug joined a gym and started working out tirelessly to bring himself back to shape

To prepare himself socially, he watched many high school anime and slice of life classroom series to know how and where to ask a girl out on a date or just simply to converse with girls without ending up in an awkward silence

For most of these things he was training to become an extrovert out of being an introvert. And while he trained, he trained not to fail, but also alongside his studies to have time to pass in college by doing the very thing he set out to do: passing time and living the college life to the fullest.

So here we come to our beloved protagonist: Yug Singh. As we know, Yug is a very confident guy, easy to talk to and adapt to any social circle. In this regard, he looks like a typical extrovert who does not have any hidden intentions or feelings about him (or at least that is the mask he wears). In fact, not even everyone suspects this, but behind his easygoing nature and always cheerful smile, there is also a person whose thoughts and emotions are easily guessed neither by friends nor by foes. And this was the image that Yug prepared for himself for these three months.

So the long-awaited day of college began for Yug on the 9 th of September. And despite all the confidence shown on the outside, inside Yug was trembling with anxiety, so his father, Mr. Sinha, drove him to college and dropped him off at the gates.

Yug walked up to the majestic gates of the "RISE" college in Agra, which has been known for more than 50 years for its educational services.

While walking through the gates, Yug saw a gathering of guys who were watching a musical chair game intensely. And if all the guys were watching the game with interest, then all the girls, without exception, were watching one particular participant in the game - a cute girl in a red t-shirt. Yug did not know which branch she was from, but he liked the way she played in this game.

"Look at her, she's amazing!" said Yug, turning to the guys who stood next to him. "She's a likely candidate to win."

And he was right because soon the musical chair game ended, and guess what, the girl in the red t-shirt won! When her name was announced over the speaker system to collect the prize certificate, Yug learned her name for the first time - Amayra Roy. In addition, he was glad to find out for his own that this pretty girl was from the same branch as him!

That evening when Yug got home, he thought about today and the pretty girl named Amayra Roy. Thus, Yug realized that to begin his "time pass" era in college, he could not have a better target than this fun and pretty girl. After all, she had exactly the look he was hoping for, so he would have to try to get close to her as soon as possible. Because there could not be two people at once who are trying to use Amayra's branch and name to pursue their goals.

The second day, the college organized a singing and dancing party for the students. Since Yug used to be into music, he went to the auditorium, partly out of curiosity, but mainly to avoid trouble. Standing among the 55 students of his class, Yug watched intently for any signs of his fellow branch members. But after a few performances, one of them, Amayra Roy, took the stage again and showed amazing skills yet. This time she was dressed in a black top with brown leggings and looked absolutely fantastic. She performed a dance that seemed to be taken from a movie, perfectly capturing the mood of the song.

The girls and boys in the audience were delighted and enthusiastic about the performance. Standing among the crowd, Yug thought to himself, "Wow, her follower count and popularity just shot up! If I want to make her my target for time pass, how the hell will I be able to compete with this?"

After the party, everyone left the hall, and Yug had no opportunity to talk to Amayra personally. So, in fact, this was the main lesson for Yug. Even if he prepared himself so well for social interactions in this college, it was not a good idea to sit and watch - it was necessary to take some initiative from the first days of the college.

So, when regular classes in the college began, Yug walked into the classroom with 55 other students. Following his plan to get closer to Amayra, he took a seat on the bench just behind her.

During a break between classes, Yug took a deep breath and made his first move to communicate with Amayra personally. Talking about their common interests: art, drawing, and anime, he found common ground with the girl, thus killing two birds with one stone. Amayra agreed to talk, and the two chatted comfortably for a while.

When they ran out of things to say, Yug took his chance to get Amayra's Instagram account. Amayra agreed enthusiastically, and Yug sent her a follow request, which she accepted instantly and followed him back.

However, as the days went by, the bench where Yug sat turned out to be noisy. On the other hand, the group of students who sat there constantly made various annoying actions so that Yug could not concentrate on the teacher during the classes. In order not to fall victim to their provocations and still be close to Amayra, Yug moved to the second row, leaving the noisy group of friends from the 55-member class of his branch. In the evening, when he was in the house, he started following Amayra Roy's Instagram account, looking with interest at the saved highlights on her account and the photos she published there, drawing various pictures.

Since talking with Amayra in person was not possible during the college's classes, Yug decided to leave a comment under one of her photos on Instagram:

"You look awesome in this picture, but ..."

Amayra saw this comment and replied to him personally:

"Do you even know me from somewhere? Didn't you sit behind me at the college? You're Yug Singh, right?"

"Yup, I sit behind you," replied Yug. "I know you, but why did you put but in your comment?"

Yug looked at his phone and smiled, replying:

"By but, I mean why are you so shy and silent in the college? You should be friendly with everyone! Otherwise, how will you study four years of college if you do not talk to anyone?"

Amayra calmly replied to Yug's comment, showing her irritation and distrust:

"Ask my old school friends, they know how shy I can be. As for you asking about college, why do I need to talk to everyone when I only talk to those I want?"

She answered him with sarcasm, pointing out that it was ironic for him to give her advice on this topic since he barely knew her.

Yug was surprised by such an answer because, so far, he did not feel such opposition from Amayra.

Amayra responded calmly, her message demonstrating a certain level of sharpness and sarcasm:

“Go ask my friends from my old school. They will tell you how quiet I am. As for college, why do I need to talk to everyone? I speak to the few people I feel like speaking to.” The next sentence, again, was quite sarcastic: “Funny how you want to give me relationship advice when you barely know me.”

Yug was stunned by Amayra’s comment; he did not expect her to reply with such a degree of sharpness to his message.

“Woah, she went from zero to a hundred real quick,” he said to himself while smiling. “She has quite an attitude, after all!”

Instead of being disappointed by Amayra’s sudden change in behavior, Yug felt more motivated by this challenge.

“Alright, Amayra,” he muttered to himself. “You have no idea about my real intention. Just try to beat that attitude of yours, and I will show you how to win over my heart.”
