The blinding light slowly dimmed as his vision adjusted.
“Baek Jian has been revived.” Someone beside him said. Minwoo wondered who they were talking about, his eyes moved around and the room he was in looked in an ICU. The beeping of the monitors, the IV drip, the brown leathered sofa?
Minwoo blinked. The room very suspiciously looked like a luxurious one; he wondered if his insurance was enough to pay for all that. Did Dohyun brought him here? Then it made sense that he would be admitted in a private hospital.
“Baek Jian…” The male nurse called, when Minwoo didn’t answer, he called again, “Baek Jian…”
Minwoo frowned, his name was not Baek Jian.
The nurse moved a finger in front of his eyes and Minwoo followed it.
“Eye movement check.” He wrote something in the writing pad in his band. “Can you move your arms and legs?”
Minwoo moved both of them and they moved. Surprisingly, he didn’t feel any pain in his abdomen.
“Motor skills fine.” He announced, “You will be as good as new with some resting.”
Minwoo wanted to speak more but the oxygen mask on his face didn’t let him. So he ran a hand on his middle, trying to find traces of bandages or maybe feel a little pain to be sure that this was not a dream.
Yet, as his hands travelled under his shirt on his stomach there was no bandage, nor any pain. His stomach also felt unusually narrow, same with his ribcage that he could feel under his fingers, as if he were someone very skinny or malnourished.
“I will pull the oxygen mask out.” The nurse let him know before slowly pushing his head up from the pillow and taking out the strap of the mask removing it.
Minwoo took some deep breathes. Only then he could speak.
“Where…” His throat was dry like sandpaper, “Where am I?” He asked.
The nurse frowned, “You don’t remember?” Minwoo shook his head, “You drowned.” The nursed replied, “Your family brought you here.”
“What?” He blinked, “I drowned?” He coughed, unable to talk any longer.
The nurse offered him a glass of water, then said, “You seriously don’t remember anything?”
“No?” Minwoo gave back the glass, “I remember I was shot, in a court room.”
The nurse blinked, “Well the lack of oxygen supply in brain can cause a serious hallucination but we found no bullet wound in your body.”
Minwoo couldn’t tell if the other was joking or not. However, he also didn’t feel any pain in his body. So it did add up.
“I will call your family.” The nurse said, “Seeing them, you might understand.”
“Wait, I don’t-“ Before he could finish his words the door opened, and someone rushed inside.
It was Seo Taemin, Dohyun’s older brother. He was the only omega of the alpha sibling line, there was huge media coverage during his marriage with Baek Jihoon, the heir of Baek steel conglomerate.
“Jian-ah…” The omega brushed his hair out of his face, “Are you all right? How did you fall in the pool?”
Minwoo blinked, “Well I am fine…but I don’t really get it.” He pushed Seo Taemin’s hand away, “Why are you here?”
Did Dohyun sent him? But he never met any of his family face to face let alone visiting him in the hospital. Also, why was he calling him Jian?
“Jian-ah….” Seo Taemin glanced at the nurse before talking to him, “Do you not recognise me?”
“I do.” Minwoo replied, “I do recognise you. You are Seo Taemin, Dohyun’s older brother.” He looked around, “I am sorry but am I having stroke or something? Is this some kind of practical joke?” He pulled up his hospital gown and was flabbergasted when he saw pale skin instead of his usual wheat complexion.
“What the fuck?” Minwoo cursed, he now looked at his hands, “What the fuck is going on?” He cursed again when he saw pale skin with fragile wrists. These were not his hands.
With swift motion, he ripped the IV needle from his arm and got out from the bed.
“Baek Jian-ssi?!”
“Jian-ah!”
Seo Taemin and the nurse yelled in unison.
“Mirror. I need a mirror.” Minwoo mumbled, “I need a mirror now!” He screamed.
“The bathroom is this way.” The nurse opened a door at the side.
Minwoo sprinted across the room, went inside, and slammed the door shut. He then slowly walked towards the sink and the mirror in front of him, and as he saw his reflection, his breath hitched.
The familiar face that he would see every morning when brushing his teeth was gone, it was replaced with someone with big eyes, a delicate nose, a pair of pale lips. Gone were his wheat complexion and now his skin was so pale it was almost translucent. His normally short straight hair was now replaced with shoulder length straight hair.
He was also shorter, he noticed. Then as he took off his hospital gown, he noticed his body was concerningly thin, the bones were sticking out, his wrists were so thin it would snap at any moment, his cheeks were hollow, his eyes were hollowed out.
“What the fuck just happened?” He whispered, “Am I in someone’s body? What?” He didn’t understand anything. “Is this a dream?” He tried to reason.
As he moved around, finally he felt something in his pants.
“Wait…” He pulled his pants off and screamed.
There was a knock on his door, but he didn’t pay it any mind.
“I am an omega!?” Minwoo yelled, “What the fuck I am an omega!”
“Jian-ah!” Seo Taemin’s voice appeared from behind the door, “Please come outside, we will talk properly….” The older omega tried to reason.
In the end he had no choice but to go outside. Yet, when he wore his clothes back and opened the door of the washroom, he saw two people in the room talking.
One was Seo Taemin, another was Seo Dohyun.
