The convoy slowly made its way through the streets of Gusablam City.
No sirens.
No gunfire.
No chaos.
Only the quiet sound of engines echoed through the morning air.
Several civilians stopped to watch as the vehicles passed. Some recognized the !VVO emblem painted on the trucks and immediately stepped back. Others simply stared in confusion.
"They're afraid of us," one member quietly said.
Hollow looked out the window.
"I don't blame them."
Silence filled the truck once again.
After nearly an hour, the convoy arrived at Basmet Town.
The streets were far quieter than Hollow remembered.
Many buildings remained damaged from The Day of Rupture, while others were covered in wooden boards and temporary repairs. The once lively town now felt empty.
The members stepped out of the trucks and immediately began unloading boxes of food, clean water, medicine, blankets, and construction tools.
The residents watched from a distance.
None of them approached.
Hollow picked up one of the heavier boxes and carried it toward a damaged house.
An elderly woman stood near the entrance.
She looked at the !VVO symbol on Hollow's coat before lowering her head.
"...Why are you helping us?"
Hollow carefully placed the box on the ground.
"Because this shouldn't have happened."
The woman remained silent.
"It was our former leader who caused your suffering."
Hollow took a slow breath.
"I can't undo what happened."
"...But I can help you rebuild."
The woman looked at Hollow for several moments before quietly thanking him.
Nearby, Lament and the other members continued distributing supplies.
Some residents slowly stepped forward.
Others remained hesitant.
It wasn't forgiveness.
But it was a beginning.
Hollow looked around Basmet Town.
Children were cautiously leaving their homes.
Families began speaking with the members.
For the first time since The Day of Rupture...
Hope had returned, even if only a little.
Lament walked beside Hollow and smiled.
"I think Plan B is working."
Hollow looked toward the town.
"...No."
Lament looked at him with confusion.
"It hasn't worked yet."
Hollow watched as another family accepted food from one of the members.
"This..."
"...is only the beginning."
