         [Arc: The Awakening]

     Chapter 1: My name is Akan

    Akan Silva is a high-schooler living in downtown Festern. “Man, this exam sucks…” Akan thought to himself. This was the last exam of his sophomore year. And he absolutely hated it, every moment.

After school…

The walk home was silent except for the rain pouring down. Akan forgot to bring an umbrella because the weather forecast said it wouldn’t rain. Out of the corner of his eye.. He saw a tall, lanky figure with cascading hair and a large mouth with teeth of wide varieties. 

“I must be imagining things.” He kept walking but turned to look again, and it was still there… he stared at it, blinking a few times– suddenly an ear-piercing screech filled the street, as the strange creature sprinted towards him–

SHINNK!

A blade sliced through the creature, and it dissipated into black particles. A woman was right behind where the creature was cut down. She was wearing a suit and black gloves. There was a rose emblem on the right glove, made from pure white silk. The sword looked electric, and it deformed and flew into the rose emblem on her glove. Akan stood there shocked, holding his breath without even realizing it… then he snapped out of it, “H-Hey! Who are you?! And what was that thing!” His voice was nearly swallowed by the rain. But she hears him nonetheless.

“… I’m Alice, with the REO,” Alice spoke with a tang of irritation.

Akan blinked a few times, tilting his head

“What’s that?” 

Alice looked at him like he was some child, asking too many questions about literally everything.

“Uh… hello? Anyone in there?” Akan stepped a bit closer to Alice

“I’m not dealing with this.” Alice turned away, vanishing into a streak of black lines and shadows. "Huh? Where the heck did she go?" Akan scratched his head. "Eh whatever not like I care."

A few weeks later.

Akan woke up in the middle of the night, at the sound of a loud crash. "Hmm?" Akan sat up eyes completely unfocused. He sat up to peek out his window when all of a sudden- Alice flew through his window battered and bruised. A bulky hand burst through the wall, and tossed the nightstand towards Alice- her sword zipped up in a blue arc slicing through the nightstand like butter. "What the he?!-" Akan tried to speak but Alice scooped him up and sliced through his bedroom wall. Hopping onto a nearby rooftop, the body belonging to the bulky hand, was a giant black figure with areas of boney shell on its body. "What on gods green earth is that thing?!" He nearly jumped out of his skin- "Be quiet! Its a roken the same thing that attacked you a few weeks ago, just bigger." Alice said in monotone but her body language was anything but calm.

A deep sound rumbled from the Rokens chest- its mouth slowly opening and a series of vibrations were launched at Akan and Alice.
