Jenny waited anxiously as she drove herself and the boy home.

He woke, "I'm getting better!"

"Oh good!" Jenny started looking for a place to pull over. "How long has it been?"

"Only a few weeks. My control is better, but I haven't figured out how to repeat a visit yet."

Jenny saw a closed burger joint with outdoor tables they could sit at, and started to pull in. "I never thought of that."

"I'm really nervous, Jenny. What if this doesn't work?"

She finished parking and got out, turning back to say, "Don't think about that."

He nodded and got out. They walked to the closest table and sat together on the adjoined bench. He took a deep breath. "I'll be right back, I think."

He leaned back and she helped support him. He dozed a moment, then popped back up. "Good! It only took me two days this time!"

Jenny smiled happily, "Have you thought about how you'll save Eileen?"

He furrowed his brow, "I need to retrace other parts of my life, maybe more than once."

"And?" She asked.

"And then I can prevent Eileen from getting cancer."

"You can do it!"

He leaned back, dozed, and popped up again. "I did it! I was able to visit a time twice!"

He dozed again almost slipping off the seat. Jenny had to catch him, "This is gonna be a busy night!"

He woke again, "I"m replaying several parts. I can't find where the cancer starts, though."

Jenny thought a moment, "What about treatments? Still beat it after she gets it?"

He nodded, then went under again. Then he woke, wide-eyed, gutted. "She's gone! She died!"

Wide eyed, Jenny pulled him into her arms. "I'm so sorry!" He started to tear up, but she said, "Don't give up! Try other treatments or starting earlier!"

"I don't know..."

Jenny turned his face to hers and made direct eye contact. "We talked about this. Save just one person. I'm sorry it's hard, but Eileen deserves it and so do you."

He nodded and dozed again, Jenny stroking his head. He woke again. "She died again!"

"Oh baby!" Jenny teared up and rocked him in her arms. "Don't give up! You can do this! I know it!" She kept him in her arms as he dozed again.

He woke again almost immediately and said nothing, just held tightly to Jenny, tears streaming.

"How is it going?" She asked.

"I watched her die again." He said through the tears, "I keep watching her die."

"Then stop it!" She insisted, "Save her!"

"I can't do this anymore!"

"You CAN!" she said, 'Don't give up!"

"I watched her die 8 times!"

Jenny held him tightly, "I don't want you to lose her!" Tears were streaming down her face now, too.

He shifts to look in her face. "Jenny! I'm getting used to it! It's starting to not bother me! " He slumped, asleep.

Jenny held and rocked his sleeping body as she cried.
