Tales from the Day Job #2...? (Yeah, don't pin your hopes on there being a consistent numbering system here.)
This one's true to life and took place somewhere around mid-to-late 2025.
My wife and siblings have often commented on my ability to alternately wax poetic on the gourmet... and shovel barely human-grade 'food' into my body with seemingly no discernment between the two.
For those unfamiliar with the acronyms, an "MRE" is a "Meal, Ready-to-Eat," which is the main type of individual field ration currently used by the American military.
"GWOT" is short for the "Global War on Terror," which was the American-led war against insurgency groups operating primarily throughout Iraq and Afghanistan from 2001 through 2021.
Love 'em or Hate 'em, they are... technically edible. Usually. Unless you get one with 'Charms' candies, in which case I wouldn't risk it. That's a dessert from an age gone by.
