Sea Stories

Chapter 5: Chilly Start

Chapter 5: Chilly Start

Aug 10, 2026

Now where were we… ah Thats right. On the ship made of stone sailing to God knows where. It was a cold morning, much colder than what the sea had to serve normally. In the far end of the ship the Twins wake and enter the hallway where the mud golem was standing guard like a Knight in armor. They both meet face to face, still tired yet still ready to set sail with the Island Pirate, except it was colder than a snowman's heart in December. Yes they were not built for this weather. Samuel grabs his sister's hand and orders the Mud Golem to follow as they go to the cantine for breakfast (Hopeful warm enough to keep them from freezing.) Once the 3 made it the change was fast like a roaring blaze of heat pushed them back into the halls. Toady was busy slicing what looked to be fish into a pan of eggs. “Ah, you choose to get out of bed, in this weather of all things as well. Color me impressed or not.” He said, sliding the 2 plates of Eggs stacked with fish meat. “Really fish meat and eggs?” Said Samantha. Little did this cook realize that she hated fish as a food, unlike her brother who was already eating like a wild wolf with no manners. “Say *GULP* Toady, why is it so chilling on the ship? We are on the sea. Would it not be hot and bright by now? Instead we were so unlucky to end up with a case of Jack frost foot before we ate.” Said Samuel who was already finished. Toady look at the 2 with sweat dripping from working by a burning stove since a like of day was peaking, He dab his head with a cloth and said with a blank expression “ You Expect a sunny to shine on a ship of stone, The Lucky Maiden does not care about the crew like that, she only cares about the sea and riding it through the hells of it.” He sips a seaweed coffee brew, then adds “And the ship is stone, what do you think happens with a lack o heat to begin with?” The twins looked both offended at the remark but also realized he too is clueless on why it's so cold on the ship today. The Twins and the Mud Golem leave with curiosity stuck to the brain. They dash to find the main deck of the Lucky Maiden, only to then bump into what can only be described as a 2 heads man wrapped in a scarf and heavy coat.”Oof, My apologies young ones Im much to busy to chit chat but… hey Doubloon had said I would find my way to you 2. I’m Navie, the ship's Driver and map guard.” His  heads said at once. It seems both are Navie. One was smiling ear to ear but the other was coving itself with a cap as it looked at a map in its off hand. “Can this ship have one normal man on board or do we stick out more than sore thumbs?” Barked Samuel who was more upset that it seemed the second head didn't care for them. “Don’t mind him, he is just wondering why it's freezing down here… My name is …” Samantha had stopped for that moment both heads looked shocked, and scared of the 2 standing there and then they looked at Clay who stood behind the twins like the protector made out of dirt he was. Naive slowly backed away then full on ran with his maps held tightly in his hands as he yelled “I’m so sorry…!” to them. The Twins look unsettled like they saw something stranger than a 2 headed Navagotor, The both chocked it up to Clay giving him a scare, what man would not be scared by a Golem? This was yet to be their worries since they finally made it to the top of the ship, only to see they set on land, but not willing or on normal land like Earth. It was Ice, miles of ice and layers of snow. It was colder on the deck than it was in the ship. By the time the Twins looked at such a landing it all made sense to them, this was Navies fault. He said it himself he was the Driver of the Lucky Maiden, he said them to this frozen hell on their first day. Samuel didn’t need a fire to warm up now, since his rage was fully boiling. He scrambled “ DAMN YOU NAVIEEEE!!!” As his sister tried to bring him back to the lower deck “Are you nuts, you'll freeze your hands off out here with nothing but a shirt and pants.” “And who’s is to blame for this, Naive! Why the seven seas would that stupid pirate hire that…” Samuel was then cut off by Captain Doubloon, with coat in one hand. “ I suggest you think before you speak to their little brat, or this stupid pirate may throw this to the sharks to keep them warm.” He chuckled in good vibes. “Anyways what's this about my Driver sailing us to this frozen rock?”
