Visea Teué sat, perched on the handle of a giant, open umbrella, an energy shield keeping out the soot as she watched a nation burn to the ground, the sky black with it's smoke. Floating unaided beside her in an immaculately white three-piece suit was her ghostly pale father, glowing faintly with power as he observed the situation with tight lips and a pinched expression. Both of them had known that this was inevitable; it was the end of an Age.
Even so... This was a bit excessive.
At this rate there won't be anyone left... Visea Teué thought with trepidation just as the clouds suddenly lit on fire, turning into roiling mass of orange and yellow as intense heat ballooned above them with an oppressive, rolling pressure that let up after a moment, thought the sky remained on fire.
“You were right.” Her father finally said.
“This is why I keep calling them psychotically xenophobic.” She answered, wishing that she had been wrong.
“Mm... Still, this is a bit excessive, even for a xenophobic species.” Her father commented, a disturbed expression on his face.
The statement reminded Visea Teué that her father was so severely temporally displaced due her powers going haywire literal epochs ago that he had not yet encountered the Vos.
He would learn.
For now, she had to explain.
“The Narans cannot abide any species existing outside of their pre – and miss – conceived notions about them without suffering ontological shock that sends them into an adrenalin-fuelled, violent frenzy.”
“...No wonder the other species keep trying to either kill them, or bring them to heel.” He said after a moment.
“They're just being hypocrites, acting out of fear and trying to kill those they fear.”
He snorted derisively and said, “That's certainly the wrong thing to have in common. How bad is this going to get?”
“Bad. The planet will be permanently uninhabitable in a few years. Some have gotten off planet, while the rich have buried themselves in bunkers to try and wait out the storm, not realizing that it will not pass. Those who got off world are just going to spread this violence to the next planet, then next and the next and the next and so on, wrecking havoc and destroying planets everywhere they go and never learning, always thinking everyone else is the villain, or the problem. It will be an endless cycle until they are either killed, genetically changed, or they are the only ones left. If the last one occurs than they will simply turn on each other until nothing and no one is left. Case and point...” She finished with a wave of her hand indicating vaguely around herself and him.
“Is this their nature...?” He asked no one in particular, horrified and disgusted.
“As they are? Yes. But it's... Correctable, though they are not salvageable as they are. A lot of work will be required, to the point where they may not be the same species by the end of it.”
“So be it.” He replied, disgusted.
Unfortunately for Narans, when he was disgusted by a species it usually spelled their demise. Worse, by the time he was disgusted almost no one wanted to intervene to save that species from his wrath. However, her father – thankfully – usually let her do what she was created to do and let her try and resolve things first.
Reaching out beyond her body, Visea Teué interwove her power with the fabric of reality and made it rain. It started as a just few droplets, the fire's intensity evaporating it before it could get anywhere near the ground. She cooled the air and the water and increased the volume of the latter until so much was brought to bear that it was impossible to see more than a couple of metres ahead.
Across the planet Visea Teué's rain touched anything and everything, soaking it. Wherever the rain reached Visea Teué knew it's – or their – objective history.
Ah. I see; I need to rearrange where those people are.
The Universe blinked and in that brief, black, moment events began rearranging, only to be interrupted as a fragment of time bumped into and began merging with the reality that she was currently in and trying to save. Things turned chaotic as new events and people became part of a dying world with a violent history.
Options unfolded, became available... And hope blossomed.
