The Gods had imprisoned them within their territories. A boundary known as an ocean's divide limited how far ships could sail. The sole purpose of vast ocean gaps was to preserve the loyalty of mortals to their gods. If a ship dared to cross, it would simply tumble off the water's edge into a dark void. The void remained a mystery, with no one ever returning from its depths.
