Crossfire: The Age of Quris
|Chapter 3: Star Rage- (||)
“This tea is amazing Mr. Wiggles!” Kira sipped her tea, looking down at the teddy bear.
“What do you mean I should have stayed?” She asked Mr. Wiggles, “I’m a little girl! What could I have done other than get in the way.” Her hand trembled as she gripped the tea cup handle tighter, “I’m a weak girl… I can’t do anything when a fight breaks loose— I’m only good for navigation, but what's a navigator that can’t defend themselves?”
“Don’t beat yourself up about it.” Mr. Wiggles spoke to her in her imagination, “You're very important! You're the navigator they need you to even get around.”
“Wait- where’s Kira!” Maren fired off a shot, the bullet curved around a pillar. Finding its mark in Voncera’s right shoulder
“They probably didn’t even notice I was gone.” She looked down at the shards on her lap, mumbling to herself as if someone would hear and judge her
Voncera lunged toward Maren, launching off a burst of dense air beneath her feet, “You are annoying, Giovanni!” She winded up her fist– “Star Rage: Impact!” Her fist slammed into his gut with the force of a sledgehammer, his body bending inwards as the dense air ripped across him— “AGH!” Maren screamed in agony.
But Voncera didn’t want to hear it. She kicked him in the side with ‘Impact!’ an audible sequence of cracking eerily clear, Maren couldn’t make a sound.
His body just shut off. He didn’t even get knocked back. Just off.
“Maren!” Olgra cried, but she still couldn’t move. There was a piece of wood wedged into her leg.
“Quiet.” Voncera turned towards Olgra. Faris was gone–
“Ahh!” Faris jumped down from the ceiling
“When did you get up there? Oh wait I’m supposed to be unconscious” Maren- Wait Maren go back to sleep dude!
Faris kicked Voncera in the back. Voncera didn’t budge but it got her attention, “I thought you were out for the count, princess.” Voncera mocked Faris with a smirk on her face “Don’t call me that! I am a Quris!” Faris reached into her pockets, pulling out a pair of gloves
They seemed to be radiating energy similar to Voncera's but fainter and weaker.
Voncera swung at Faris, “Impact!” Faris was launched back, just barely blocking the attack
“That move is banned!” She managed while dodging energy bolts, “You wish.” Voncera clapped her hands together– the right hand coated in dense air, the left hand coated in energy creating a thunderclap, “Since when could you do that?!” Faris just barely managed to dodge it.
“Why would I tell you?” Voncera swiped the air, grabbing it and shaping it into a bow
“Come on, what all can you do?” Faris grunted in annoyance, she couldn’t understand Voncera’s Blessing. She kept using something new.
“You’ll see” Voncera replied coolly, something about her tone ticked Faris off, “Whatever!” Faris slammed her fist into her leg, the energy flowing through it–
She appeared beside Voncera, slamming a chair against her– but the chair made contact with a barrier of air, shattering.
Before Faris could even speak, Voncera backhanded her, “Ow!” Faris rubbed her cheek– Voncera’s knee came up and made contact with Faris’s chest “Agh!” Faris keeled over, clutching her chest “I… I will not give up!” Faris managed, wheezing through the pain
She didn’t have time to recover. Voncera never gave them a chance. “Star Rage: Degonez.” Voncera’s finger pointed at Faris, a faint hum coming from the tip—
Then the beam erupted, consuming Faris in its light, her scream was cut short. She lay there completely limp.
“Wait! I think I get it!” Olgra struggled to stand up, “Her Blessing has something to do with energy and density. But I think I know how it works.” Olgra hurried over to Maren’s side, placing her hand on his back.
“Reject.” A faint orange glow coated Maren—
“Boo!”
Maren jumped up, “AH!” Olgra flinched back, her back hitting a wall, “You totally got scared!”
Maren's laugh sounded like a landslide, “Shut your mouth!” Voncera lunged at him. Punching him in the gut. He crashed through the wall, rolling onto the open road, “Ow… she’s got one temper if you ask me.” He pushed himself up, his abdomen aching. “You won’t be getting up again, Giovanni!” Voncera launched herself forward. Maren sidestepped. “That almost hit me!” He shrieked, fumbling for his pistols
“Deadeye: uh wait what did I call it again?” Maren tapped his chin, deep in thought. “Oh right, Deadeye: Double shot” He tossed a bullet into the air and fired, controlling both bullets. Their target was Voncera’s right arm.
The bullets were stopped by the air barrier around her. “Oh come on!” Maren threw his hands up.
THANKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU for reading another chapter of Crossfire anyways I got a cool fact today
So basically berries like blueberries coat themselves in this frosty like substance that protects them from sunrays, and insects, it also keeps them fresher for much longer but inexperienced farmers wipe the coating off
