The silence was the first thing they noticed. It felt strange.
No one was shouting anymore. The classroom had become so quiet that they could even hear the gentle breeze outside.
Every day, Gama could smell the flowers in the classroom. There was always a flower sitting on Tera's desk, but it wasn't from him.
Getting to know Tera meant getting to know the flowers, too. The roses hidden beneath his desk, along with the white roses.
Gama had looked up what the flowers meant.
Apology.
Healing.
He never took them. He simply left them sitting on Tera's desk until they eventually dried up.
"This has to be from whoever did it," Gama muttered.
****
Gama and Tera hadn't known each other for very long, which made it difficult for Gama to figure out where Tera was.
Which hospital was he in?
How could he get there?
He had called Tera countless times, but there was still no answer. Maybe his phone was dead.
Gama was on the verge of losing his mind, yet he couldn't leave this place. He still needed another year to finish all his classes here.
'Gama.'
Tera's voice echoed in his head.
Gama's attention shifted to the empty seat beside Yan, the one now covered with those white flowers.
He could almost hear Tera's endless chatter.
It wasn't comforting. If anything, it made him feel like he wanted to die too. There was this emptiness inside him, a strange feeling that something was missing from his heart.
He tried to figure out what it was.
He searched for information on his own. He even went into the teachers' office and asked for Tera's address, but they wouldn't tell him exactly where Tera was.
They only gave him the district.
That wasn't enough.
Which hospital was he in? And how was Gama supposed to get there?
He had never felt this helpless before.
When the weekend came, he stood alone on the side of a bridge, staring down at the flowing water and the clear stones beneath it.
A few memories came back to him.
Enough to make his knees feel weak.
"Mom."
In the end, Gama gave up and called his mother. His lips trembled. Even getting a single word out felt difficult.
[What? Don't waste my time. I'm busy.]
Gama's mother clearly wasn't in the mood to be bothered.
But then she heard him sobbing. She fell silent and listened more carefully.
'Are you crying?' she asked.
'A kid like you can actually cry? Hahahaha. What happened?'
She laughed, but beneath the teasing, she could hear how much regret weighed on her son.
"Help me," Gama whispered.
He wasn't joking this time.
His mother immediately became serious.
'What's wrong?'
"Tera... he transferred."
"Help me transfer out of here too. I want to see him. I know, I know, I probably won't get permission, but if this keeps going..."
"I'll go insane!"
Gama shouted, his emotions finally boiling over until the veins in his neck stood out.
He bit his nails.
"I've been trying to hold everything in, but this anxiety is eating away at my sanity."
[Then tell me exactly what happened. Why did he transfer? Why are you so frustrated? Idiot.]
Gama ended the call.
As he lowered his phone, he noticed someone walking past.
It was one of his teachers.
And she was carrying the same flowers that had always been left on Tera's desk.
Gama quickly put on his jacket and pulled a cap over his head.
Then he quietly followed her.
The teacher was an Alpha woman. She was also the same teacher who had once argued with Tera about Enigma.
But she wasn't heading back toward the school.
Instead, she walked into a café and threw the flowers onto the table in front of someone.
"I can't keep sending these anymore. The flowers are rotting and drying out."
"If he's never coming back, wouldn't it be better if we just stopped this?"
Gama pretended to enter the café and ordered an Americano. He chose a seat with his back turned toward them.
"I'm starting to feel guilty!"
"Because of what he told me to do, that kid got hurt!"
"You think I'm not going to get dragged into this too?"
"I was the one who convinced him to join that fake class!"
The woman snapped angrily.
"I can't keep living with this guilt."
"Those flowers only make me feel worse. They make me keep thinking..."
"If only Tera hadn't fallen into that trap."
"If only I hadn't listened to that kid, Kai."
She clenched her head in frustration and grumbled under her breath.
Gama lowered his head and clenched his fists.
"Isn't everything already taken care of?"
"You won't be accused of anything. The case won't even be reopened because it's officially been classified as nothing more than an accident."
"Mr. Dev acted quickly and replaced everything that looked suspicious, including that broken door."
"He also took responsibility for what his son did."
The man speaking wasn't Kai.
He was merely one of Kai's lackeys.
Kai was still grounded and forbidden from leaving the house.
Gama couldn't take it anymore.
He abruptly stood up.
He was about to leave, but he hadn't finished his coffee.
So he poured the rest of it over the woman's head and walked away without another word.
"Hey! What the hell was that supposed to mean?!" the man shouted.
Gama didn't answer. He simply kept walking.
The man took the bait.
Even though Gama hadn't attacked him directly, the man clenched his fists and followed.
Gama entered a relatively deserted area and stopped.
A fist came crashing into the man's face.
Gama had given the adult man a free punch.
The man staggered in shock, immediately touching his jaw as though it had been knocked out of place.
"Who the hell are you?!" he shouted.
"Gama."
He threw his cap aside and ran a hand through his hair, his breathing heavy with anger.
Then he grabbed the man's face with one hand, fingers digging into both cheeks.
"If I ask your name, I already know you won't tell me."
"Especially when it comes to the person who's been sending those flowers to Tera."
His grip tightened.
"Tell him this."
"Don't fuck with me."
"The person he hurt is my Omega."
"And he's going to pay for it."
Gama slammed the man's head against the wall.
"I'll let you walk away."
"But only if you're willing to cooperate with me."
He grabbed the man's hair and forced his head back.
Then his claws slowly slid out.
Not to attack.
Just enough to make sure the man understood exactly who he was dealing with.
They were never betas. Their story simply began later than everyone else's
Everyone thought Tera was a Beta.
For years, he lived comfortably without ever presenting as an Alpha or Omega—until his body finally decided to prove everyone wrong.
His late manifestation changes everything. Suddenly, Tera has to deal with an identity he never expected, uncontrollable instincts, and an Alpha who seems far too interested in him.
Gama was never supposed to be part of Tera's new life.
But the more Tera tries to adjust to being an Omega, the harder it becomes to keep Gama at a safe distance.
Some people bloom early.
Tera was simply late.
And unfortunately for him, his Alpha was already waiting.
