Crossfire: The Age of Quris 

   ︱ The Conohana Village Arc- Chapter 6: Land Ho!︱ 

The morning air was refreshing, carrying the scent of fish and firewood, “Faris believes this is a beautiful day” She was propped up against a crate, sipping a fruit brew. The taste was tangy, “Faris… Can I have some?” Kira poked her leg, Mr. Wiggles hugged snuggly against her chest, “Faris will make you one.” Faris slowly sat up, stretching briefly before walking to the galley. Olgra was busy watching from the crow’s nest. “Wait! I see land! It looks like a village from here!” She shouted, her voice a mix of excitement and relief. “I was getting tired of being on this boat.” She slumped against the mast.

“Finally! Man, I feel stiff. Being cooped up on this ship is no fun.” Maren laughed from the deck, Rayan practicing her card shuffling. Her expression was one of deep focus. A tiny bundle of white hair waddled over, Kira stood on her tippy toes, trying to see what Rayan was doing.

They set course towards the island, the streets were lively. But not for long. A giant ship docked on the south beach, the Victor T Rows. A crew notorious for their cruelty, “Kill every last citizen you see! Leave out the children we’ll take ‘em on our crew!” Victor howled, he had an ominous feel to him. He wore a blindfold, but he seemed to be able to see.

“Residents of Conohana village! From this moment forward, Conohana village is property of the Victor T Row pirates!” His voice was hysterical. He spoke in a way that sent chills through your body, in places you didn’t know were possible.

“Oh my god!” “Hide the children!” “Pirates! Pirates are here!”

“Yagagag!” Victor’s head flew back, a very annoying laugh snuffed out all sound, “What's going on? It looks like something’s wrong.” Olgra squinted through the spyglass. The hurried and panicked movement of the townsfolk, she wasn’t sure what it was but it wasn’t good. 

“What do you mean? Maybe it’s just a parade.” Maren tried to peep through the spyglass as well, “Get your own, moron!” Olgra snatched it away, almost dropping it. “Ha! You're so clumsy!” Maren fell out laughing, rolling around on the floor.

In minutes the town was taken over, hundreds of civilians bowing to Victor. The silence seemed to fuel Victor’s twisted desires. “I am so powerful you remain silent in my presence!” He grinned, showing all teeth, sharp canines.

“Rogogo” Ren stepped out from behind Victor, his cape flowing behind him.

“Welcome to the first installment of the Kira Podcast!” Kira cheered, eyes sparkling, “Thank you from the bottom of me and Mr. Wiggles heart, for reading another chapter of Crossfire!”

“Today we have the mistress Voncera Decobra!” Mr. Wiggle's paw pointed towards Voncera. She’s sat in a chair on the opposite side of the table.

“Why have you brought me here?” Voncera glared at Kira, her eyes turning to pinpricks 

“I have a question about your skin care! Because your skin is just beautiful!” Kira vibrated with energy, “Well I’m so glad you asked. I rub my skin in coco oil, and I wash my hair in Tenshi oil.” Vencora grinned, her face practically glowing

“Wow! It worked! I have to tell Olgra about this!” Kira’s hand ran over her skin, her hand sliding across it smoothly.

“It worked for me too! My fur has never been so soft!”
