Concerned, Izan retraced his steps, thinking that he and Clara were trapped, but when he reached the doorway, he was able to cross it without any trouble.
"Looks like you're the only one who can't enter, Bellator," the boy said, intrigued.
"Maybe it's because it's my room," Clara commented without paying attention to the others.
She was fascinated by the place and happy to have a bed of her own.
"And I can enter without any problem?" Izan asked.
"I suppose you can because it's your palace," Clara said with a smile. "Although it could also be something else."
"What do you mean?"
"Well... I've known you my whole life," she replied. "Don't take it the wrong way, Bellator, but I barely know you, and I don't completely trust you."
The man nodded without concern. He even smiled at what the girl had said.
"You're quite right not to trust strangers, Miss Clara. I have no ill intentions, and I promise to serve you, young Heroes, but there are many ill-intentioned people in the world."
Clara smiled and nodded.
"By the way, why do you think this room works like this?" Izan asked, looking around.
The boy opened a door and found a spacious bathroom with white tiles and gold decorations.
"I'm not sure," the young woman said. "I just felt that it was like that."
"You felt it... It seems like plenty of things here work that way."
"Heroes!" Bellator suddenly called.
The two boys hurried out of Clara's room and found the man several meters down the hallway, one of his large hands on the doorknob of an open door.
"My name appeared on the door too."
Bellator's room was just as spacious as Clara's, but the interior was different. A rug made from the hide of some animal lay on the floor. The bed was also large, but without a canopy, and instead of a delicate desk, there was a large round table in front of a fireplace.
"It's as if the room adapts to the person," Izan commented as he entered. "And it looks like I can enter."
Clara, for her part, carefully approached the doorway, expecting to find an invisible barrier, but when she extended her hand, she encountered no obstacle.
"Can I enter?" she wondered, surprised.
Bellator folded his arms and nodded proudly.
"I would never close the doors to a Hero."
Izan looked at Clara and raised his eyebrows while giving her a mocking smile. Seeing this, she approached and discreetly elbowed him.
"Well, I guess it's my turn to see whether I can have a room too," the boy said.
He left Bellator's room, determined to claim the next door in his name, but when he tried to open it, nothing happened. The door was sealed like so many others.
"I don't think you need a room," his friend told him as she reached his side. "You're alive... unlike us. In theory, we're your guests."
"Indeed, I won't be able to spend as much time in the palace, but what sense does it make for the owner of the house not to have a place of his own?"
"Maybe you do," Bellator added.
"What do you mean?"
"That room over there."
The man pointed to the other end of the hallway. In the distance, they could see a large door that was very different from the others.
When he saw it, Izan hurried toward it.
The wooden frame was carved along the sides and across the top, forming intertwined arms. It was a large arched wooden door with golden decorations.
"It looks like the portal we entered this world through," Clara commented, swallowing nervously.
Izan nodded and, with a trembling hand from his nerves, grasped the doorknob and opened it. As he did, his name was engraved into the wood of the door as if it were being written in fire.
That confirmed that the room belonged to him, but what the boy hadn't expected was everything he would find inside the Master Room.
