It’s late at night; most of the workers have already left, and Aster is alone in her office. Her desk is piled high with documents, and empty coffee cups litter the floor. Her thick makeup covers the bags under her eyes after many night shifts. Though she has been working for months, she is still adjusting to her new environment. Despite suddenly becoming the new boss, Aster remains kind to those around her, and her employees are glad their new boss is as kind as the previous one. Even while working, she cannot stop grieving for her parents.
After she is done, she drinks one more cup of coffee before heading to her car and driving away. Even after the coffee, she still feels sleepy, as if it has no effect, but she pushes through it because someone is waiting for her at home: her younger sister, Lara.
“Wait for me, Lara. My sister's coming home now,” she said to herself.
Lara, Tony, and Aster survived the car accident they went through a few months ago. Though they all sustained serious injuries, Tony is the only one who went into a coma. Now Aster needs to take care of her younger sister and hope that her brother wakes up. She really needed the help of her older brother, as she was so stressed with all the adjustments she needed to make when her parents died.
“I wish I could have at least a day where Lara, Tony, and I can have fun and relax just like before.” She started to tear up. “I wish you were awake and with us too, Tony.” She said while crying. “I wonder when you will wake up.”
While driving, Aster noticed that everything was slowly getting darker.
“What is happening?!” She said as she started to panic. “Oh no, I need to get out of the car! I hope I’m just tired or just had a lot of coffee.” She said as she slowly stopped the car.
As soon as she got out of the car, everything was already pitch black, and her body felt light, like she was floating. She couldn’t even hear her car's engine. It was as if everything went silent.
“What is happening to me?” She said worriedly.
Aster closed her eyes and hoped that when she opened them, she would be okay, that nothing had happened to her. After all, Lara is waiting for her at home.
Aster felt like she was floating down and felt the wind brush against her; then she stepped on the ground as if she could finally feel her weight. As she opened her eyes, she scanned her surroundings and was baffled by how she was there in the forest.
“How did I end up in the forest? Did I black out? Am I dreaming?” She asked herself.
Then she noticed a man lying on the ground.
“Oh no. Is that person.. Bleeding?!” She saw a man unconscious and bleeding.
She panics at the sight of the man; the last time she saw this much blood was when they had a car accident. She rushes towards him and checks for a pulse.
“He is still alive, but barely. How do I help him? It’s not like there is a nearby hospital here.” She said as she panicked about what to do to help the man. “I wonder… if this man has a family back home waiting for him.” Aster was saddened at the thought of the man dying and his family not knowing what happened to him.
Aster held the man’s hand and closed her eyes. “I… wish you were okay. Whoever you are, I pray that your wound will heal up.” She thought of things that the man could be doing, learning, exploring, spending time with his family.
The next moment, Aster heard a grunt coming from the man. She opened her eyes and could see that the man was slowly gaining consciousness. The man looked at her and asked, “Who are you?”
Aster was stunned for a moment before coming to her senses. “Oh. Hi! My name is Aster. Are you okay now? It looks like you’re not bleeding anymore.”
“I am Damon Ironheart. And yes, I seem to be okay now.” He said while getting up and brushing off the dust on his clothes. “Are you the one who healed me?” He helped Aster to get up as well.
“Uhh. I think so? I’m not sure. I still think that I am dreaming.” She still doesn’t have an idea of what’s going on.
“What would be the reason you are dreaming? And how did you get here in the middle of the forest?” He asked curiously.
“I, uh, I don’t actually know. First, I was on a road driving my car, then the next second I was here. And you’re here bleeding.” She tries to explain her situation.
“Car? What is a car?” He has not heard a car before.
“Uhh, you don’t know what a car is? Wait, did I get isekai or something?!” She said with a mix of confusion, excitement, and worry.
The man looked at her curiously. “Hmm. Are you perhaps from another world?”
Aster was shocked when he said that. “Wait, so I am really in another world? How? Why? Am I really dreaming? And how did you know that I’m from another world?”
“Because we believe that there are other worlds out there that are different from us. If the sky, the space, and the ocean are vast, then how do you expect that there’s no one out there aside from us?" He said with enthusiasm.
“You are right. The world is vast, and many places are still unknown to us.” She agrees. “Then if I am in another world, what is the purpose of me being here?” She asked.
“Maybe there is something that you need or want that your world doesn't have?” Said Damon.
“Something that I want…” Aster then remembered her family, complete and happy. “Hey, do you think someone can be brought back to life? Is that possible in this world?” She asked with hope.
Aster came from a wealthy and loving family but despite that she wants to earn her own money without relying on her family's wealth. She works as a Vtuber, although she doesn’t earn that much she enjoys what she does and her parents support her.
One day, when they were all on a family trip they got into an accident and only she and her youngest sister Lara survived, while her older brother was in a coma. Aster inherited all of her family's assets and businesses and was forced to stop doing Vtuber stuff as she had a bigger job to do. Despite the new big responsibility she takes her strength from her siblings.
While driving on the way home, everything slowly turns dark and Aster starts to panic. The next thing she knows she was in another place she doesn’t recognize.
