Chapter 10. Cute little baby dragons (sweet drink!!)
“As for snacks…”
Long Quang’s eyes turned eager.
“How about some starfruit?”
Long Quang’s lips turned down. “Is that all?”
Phương grinned. Long Quang’s sad face would make fans around the world shout, “baby, mother will give you something delicious!”
He took out his recently made pocky sticks. “How about these?”
Long Quang grabbed a long thin biscuit stick with a pale yellow coating on most of it and took a bite. The little stick broke crisply in his mouth, and the pale yellow coating was mango flavoured. For some reason, Long Quang couldn’t help but take a few more. They were so delicious, but they were so small!!!
Phương smiled knowingly and packed up all the pocky that he had made into a little paper bag for Long Quang.
“I had wondered, how do you drink bubble tea under the sea? Wouldn’t the drink get mixed in with sea water? Can these snacks stay dry?” Phương asked.
“Sea water is just like land air,” Long Quang said. “You humans are so weak that you can’t breathe underwater.”
Phương’s translation: There was probably some magic formation and latent dragon ability.
Long Quang looked around the little tearoom. “Why do you have more tables and chairs now?”
“There have been some bigger groups of guests recently.”
“You have a lot of other guests? And you make food and bubble tea for them?” Long Quang felt that Phượng Hoàng Vũ was even more displeasing.
“Yes…this is a tearoom,” Phương said. He looked at the listless Long Quang and felt a little helpless. “Do you need to go soon?”
“Oh, do you want me to leave?”
“Or you can stay, I’m sure I can find some chores for you to do. I don’t have a spare guestroom yet, but you can sleep in my bed. How about it?”
Long Quang stood up. “Tch, your house is smaller than me!”
Phương sighed exaggeratedly. “What a shame that you can’t stay. Come back soon, little Long Quang. Don’t forget to show me a new move next time.”
“…I will.” Long Quang walked to the ocean, glancing back several times.
After one last glance—and after Phương waved to him—Long Quang transformed and jumped into the ocean.
It was daytime for once, allowing Phương to properly see Long Quang’s simmering blue scales, golden horns, sharp claws and long winding tail.
Everything became quiet once more. Staring at where Long Quang disappeared, and sweeping his gaze across the empty beach and to his house, Phương shook his head at himself.
Having a tearoom, selling goods, Phương wasn’t doing ‘being in retirement’ and ‘living in seclusion’ very well.
He scratched his head. Should I return to my old sect?
Haha, probably not, since everyone thinks I’m dead already!
Phương put his hands on his hips. He was retired, he could do whatever he wanted. And right now, his hands were itching to craft something. Maybe he could even making something special for little Long Quang.
Recalling Long Quang’s face when he ate and when he held the chubby dragon orb in his hands, Phương smiled and headed into his workshop.
Long Quang swam to his preferred undersea ravine to brood and to avoid returning to the dragon kingdom too soon.
New move, new move—
Long Quang jolted when he realised he had shown a human his ice spheres. With Long Duy and with his mother, he had resisted. Yet why had he been so eager to show Phương?
Long Quang’s claw touched the spatial storage hidden behind one of his scales and blew annoyed bubbles into the water. It must be the effects of the milk tea and that deceptively attractive little chubby dragon light orb. Humans were full of tricks, and Phương was right up there!
New move, new move…
Yet, Long Quang wanted to make another new move so that he could show it to Phương. Anyway, Phương was a refiner, not a combat cultivator, so showing him these little moves wouldn’t impact the safety of the dragon kingdom.
New move, new move.
Repeating those words in his head didn’t help him think of any new moves. After tucking himself into a particularly comfy spot in the ravine, Long Quang half-heartedly looked through the human cultivation manuals, but they were boring.
He made another ice sphere, which popped in his claws like the popping pearls.
A chewy ice sphere?
Solid ice spheres already existed.
Long Quang played around with the shape, like how Phương made different shaped light orbs.
Long Quang’s eyes flashed. Ah! The chubby dragon light!
What if he made an ice dragon? Or a water dragon, armoured with ice? Or an ice sphere that had a blinding element when it exploded? He knew that humanoid golems existed, but what about dragon-y ones? What if he armoured himself with ice, turning himself from a small dragon to a big dragon?!
Long Quang’s eyes lit up. He shifted seating position and began to manipulate water and ice.
When Long Quang finally returned home, he noticed that the water was a little tumultuous and carried sounds of various voices. As he came closer to his cave, he saw many more little dragons than usual. Aside from the azure dragons from his kingdom, there were other coloured dragons from smaller neighbouring kingdoms.
In the distance, at the front of the Imperial Dragon Palace, there were large guard turtles, several large sting rays carrying enchanted carriages and several adult dragons of various colours dressed in formal attire.
“Big brother is back!” The little dragon Long Bảo launched himself into Long Quang’s body and rolled happily in the water. “Big brother, do you have sweet drinks again?”
“We heard that you have delicious drinks,” a young green-coloured dragon said.
“Big brother Quang? Big brother Quang? Big brother?” Various small dragons surrounded Long Quang, all looking at him with adorable eyes.
Long Quang: “…”
On the one hand, this was the most popular he had ever been. On the other hand, his bubble tea!! It wasn’t cheap, he had to buy them from an evil human profiteer!
Wait, profiteering…!
Long Quang raised his head. “I only have a few drinks and they were expensive to obtain. One spiritual stone per drink.”
Many of the young dragons drooped. But some of these young dragons were rich little babies who easily took out a spiritual stone from their little spatial pouches.
“Do you want mango flavour or honeydew flavour?”
“Mango!”
“Honeydew!”
Long Quang accepted five spiritual stones and handed out two mango bubble teas and three honeydew bubble teas.
The wealthy little dragons puffed up. Following the guidance of a knowledgeable little dragon, they inserted the straws and drank, much to the envy of their peers.
“Really delicious!”
While many little dragons gathered around the wealthy little dragons, begging for a sip, Long Bảo went up to Long Quang and sulked. “Big brother…”
“Help me collect some pretty shells and gems and I’ll let you have some,” Long Quang said.
Long Bảo brightened. “Baby Bảo knows!” He gathered some friends and they quickly swam away.
Long Quang finally entered his cave. He gave it a critical look. Then he raised his claws and started digging at the walls.
Sharp dragon claws made short work of the cave stone. It didn’t take long for the cave to widen and deepen, and the walls to become much more smooth. Inspired by Phương’s display cabinet, Long Quang dug out recesses into one wall. The messy treasures around his cave were placed tidily into the recesses, while shiny gems were pressed into another wall.
Long Quang placed the round light orb and the chubby dragon light orb on a special shelf. Turning them on, they were the brightest of his treasures.
“Big brother, we’re back!” Long Bảo called from outside the cave.
Long Quang swam up and undid the barrier, letting Long Bảo and a few other dragons in.
“We have gems and shells!”
Long Quang pointed to a spot on the floor. “Put them here.”
Soon, there was a pile of gems and shells of all different shapes and colours.
“Big brother, what happened to your dragon pearl? It became small and dented!” one of Long Quang’s cousins noticed a round-ish glowing object.
Several little dragons swam up to investigate. “Yeah, it’s so little! It’s even littler than mine!”
“Waaahhh, dragon pearls can get dented?!!”
“Big brother, sweet drink,” Long Bảo said very firmly, trying his best not to get distracted by his friends.
Long Quang took out a cup of mango bubble tea and a cup of honeydew bubble tea. “Share them.” He fetched the two light orbs from the wall. “These aren’t dragon pearls, they’re refined light orbs. Look.” He showed them how to turn them off and on.
“Wow~!”
Long Quang let the little dragons admire his light orbs. “Look,” he held up the chubby dragon one. “This one is shaped like a baby dragon.”
“Wow~!!”
“Where did you find them?”
“These cost three spiritual stones each,” Long Quang said, as though he hadn’t received both for free. He lowered his voice. “I took them from a human.”
“Wowwww!!!” The little dragon gave him looks of admiration. “Big brother is so strong!”
Long Quang looked at the different coloured dragons. “So why are you here today?”
“Aren’t you big, don’t you know?” one dragon said, rolling her eyes. “The Phoenix clan is visiting! Their king is here, which is why everyone is so busy and can’t play with us!”
Long Quang frowned. “Phoenixes?”
“Yeah, did cultivation make you silly?” The little dragons laughed at Long Quang.
Long Quang snorted. “Don’t want a sweet drink anymore?”
“Want, want!”
“Big brother, where did you get the sweet drinks?”
“It’s called bubble tea. And I also took them from a human. They’re very rare!”
The little dragons happily drank this very rare bubble tea taken from a human. Long Quang continued decorating his cave, embedding the new gems and shells into the wall.
He still wasn’t satisfied though. It felt like it was missing many more light orbs…and maybe a few large fruit cushions. How could he trick Phương into giving him more things?
The little dragons finished drinking, and after some arguing, two of them won the right to keep the empty cup and straw.
“Finished drinking, time to play!”
Two particularly energetic dragons launched into Long Quang’s arms.
“No playing in my cave.”
“Let’s go, let’s go!” The group of little dragons nudged Long Quang up to his cave entrance.
Not long after, a whole crowd of little dragons surrounded Long Quang.
To entertain the little dragons and wear them out, Long Quang made tiny tiny water spheres and ice spheres. The little dragons from other clans, who had never seen the exploding water and ice spheres before, were shocked. They all giggled and laughed as they dodged the mini explosions.
Long Quang: How do I trick him?
Phương: HAHA, who’s the one really getting tricked~
Today’s Long Quang is a little king of little dragons (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶) .ᐟ.ᐟ
