[Hello, it's the eleven o'clock news, and it seems that we've got word that they're considering raising the prices for homeowner and renter's insurance! Along with Alien Damage Taxes being considered, woah, can't believe they're even considering all of that, can you be--?] Click.
Blah, blah, blah, aliens this, aliens that muffling on and on, the chimera headed off towards his room. Forget all this about those invaders for one second of their lives! Is that seriously all they talk about on the news lately? They have a fourth species among them, he gets it. Tell him something he doesn't know. He shouldn't have bothered even turning on the tube, oh well, time to get going.
"Mrow, mrow, mrow!" Mr. Tux shouted.
[Wow, you need me to translate this, too? That's kind of laughable. What did Mr. Tux say just now? He said, "Take me with you!" And, he leaped into the handbag again, surprise, surprise! Never a dull moment, is there? Peacers!]
Mr. Tux rolling up into his rug, the hyena let out a sigh. Did? Did it look like he was going to be leaving him home and let him cause trouble when he was on the books? That's not happening. Not in a million years. No, scratch that, eight billion years and a universal reset. Wobbling towards the door, he prepared himself. Better hurry before boss calls him and tells him to hurry up and be there in ten minutes!
Door slammed behind him, the hyena stared off into space for a brief moment. Woah, the clouds sure were, black, white, grey, skinny? Skinny today. Weird, why are they shaped liked a funnel? That's pretty unusual. Is he? Is he seeing things? Maybe. Whatever, he doesn't have time for this, he's out of here, huff puff.
Or, so the chimera thought. Wrist soon gripped, he turned his attention towards the noise. Varg looking straight at him with a serious look on his face, his eyes wandered. Sorry, did he close door a little too loud again? Please, please forgive? Forgive him. Forgive him, please. Huh, did he think that already?
"Siorc, ya feelin' alright? Yer lookin' kinda feverish," Varg said, tone concerned. "Did s'mthin' happen to ya when the aliens take ya to N'w Mexica?" His eyes then wandered. "L'ts get ya back to yer 'partment."
Noise coming his way, the fixer upper shook his head. Does it look like he has time for this nonsense right now? He's fine, he uh, got sunburned while in New Mexico, that's all! Can he please get out of his way? Thanks. If he's late to being early, boss will throw him out into the streets and dock his pay for the rest of? The rest of? The century. The century, yeah.
[I'm fine, Varg, I took aspirin, don't worry about me. And, the demons punished me for taking too long in their territory in a gas station. Nothing I'm not used to. I'm fine, I can tough it out. Isn't that what I'm supposed to do? Please, step aside, I have to go.] A page with shaky lines from his communication log said.
"Really, yer fine, huh? Not buyin' it, yer wearin' leather gloves," Varg said, pointing. "And black pants. Ya only wear th't when s'mthin's wrong, an' you know it. An' not t' m'ntion, yer not wearin' any barrettes or earrin's neitha. Ya expect me to 'ccept that I'm fine nonsense of yers? What really happened in N'w Mexica yesterday?"
[Nothing major, a demon just punished me, alright? They poured rotten ethanol on my hands. I'm fine, I can take it. They burned me at the stake before, this is nothing I can't handle. Please, I can't miss work today, everyone has to be there! And, please, don't tell Pira about this! If he finds out what happened, he's going to flip out! It'll fade, I promise, so please don't worry about me.] A shaky page from his communication log said.
"The demons did what to you?! Do ya realize h'w dangerous th't stuff is?! 'Course Pira's gonna flip when he finds outta 'bout that!" Varg cried, voice raising. "A'll call yer boss an' t'll him ya've taken ill. An' if the aliens gotta job fer ya A'll be dealin' with it, got it?"
Phone buzzing, the hyena's ears were ready to pop out of his head. Blah, blah, blah, hurry and come to work now, they have to leave as soon as possible. Bleep, bleep, bloop, he needs everyone today, even if they're about to drop dead. Blomp, blomp, blomp, no one is allowed to call out today, be there. Ha ha ha, emergency time, yippee! Here's to radioactivity!
[I can't, alright? Boss said he needs everyone today! I'll see you later, bye!] A shaky page from his communication log shouted.
Racing through the streets, the chimera huffed a weak breath. Is it just him, or did it feel like he was running a marathon? Come on, get it together, if he doesn't make it to work on time, he's super toast! No, not just toast, he's done for? More done for than he's ever been before! Perhaps, he'll even be fired, time to speed things up a little!

Hair pecked at as soon as he placed his employee badge over the card reader, the hyena resisted the urge to squawk. Yes, he knows, he's late to being early. Tell him something he doesn't know instead for a change! And, don't remind him he wasn't supposed to bring Mr. Tux with him, it's fine, he's wearing his cloth mask, and a kitty gas mask, nothing to see here!
"Squawk, we got a tardy worker on our hands, pink slip, pink slip!" Sargent Blue Feet shouted.
"Sargent Blue Feet, how many times do I have to tell you I'm in charge of who gets the slip around here, not you!" Oriole cried, hands in the air. "Good morning, Siorc. Due to the nature of today's job, we'll only be cleaning up the disaster site for three hours at a time all week." He then flinched. "Are you alright? Your cheeks are flushed. Did something happen while you were helping the aliens the other day?"
[Nothing important, the demons punished me, that's all. I'm fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. We need all hands on deck, right?] A page from his communication log said.
"Look, I know I said everyone had to be here today, but you really aren't looking all that well," Oriole said, arms crossed. "You can go back home for today."
[I'm fine, boss. This is nothing. Besides, I was already in a nuclear disaster site yesterday. I've got this. And, the aliens have a job for me after hours, I can't go home! It's fine, I'll tough it out, don't worry about me.] A page from his communication log said.
"Fine, but I'm taking you home early if I think you're doing worse, you understand? Go get your equipment." His tone was stern.
Dragging himself to the back room, the young adult sighed. Maybe he should have put on some makeup today. Yeah, right, ha ha ha, like a little bit of magic was going to hide anything at all. Supply kit soon taken out, a million eyes were on him. Yes, he knows, he looks like a wreck, don't remind him.
"Uh, Siorc, why did you bring Mr. Tux with you?" Kokon asked. "We're going to a nuclear disaster zone!"
[Why did you bring Quari with you, then?] A page from his communication log asked.
"Fallout zone go bye bye with sparklies!" Quari cried.
"You know exactly why Quari's here and why no one else brought their SoulCritters with them. But, I can see you forgot to use your brain again today." Sigh. "Whatever. Everyone else's loading up the van already. Put on your gas mask, and let's go."
"Sparklies, sparklies!" Quari cried. Quari then whimpered. "Robots here, robots not sparkly."
Even more robot cats added to the employee list, the hyena almost fainted. Oh, great, the manager introduced even more of these things?! Why? He thought he wrote up at least six complaints that these things have got to go! But, does anyone listen to him? No, he may as well be a brick wall at this point. Dragging himself off towards the company van, he prepared himself for the comment stream.
"Remember everyone, this is an emergency cleanup, and we can't be in the zone for more than three hours. Make sure you're fully protected!" Oriole cried.
"Boss, why are there more of those creepy AI cat robots here?" Dusana asked. "I thought you said there wouldn't be any more of those!"
"Seriously," Zaphiro said, arms crossed.
"There's thirteen of them now, despicable," Cuarzo said, clicking their tongue.
"I thought you said you'd have these nasty pieces of work decommissioned!" Meilong cried.
"Yeah, boss, what gives?" Tulong asked, tone annoyed.
"Don't tell me they're here to do our work for us!" Rhodette cried. "Wow, way to act like you need us and then get more of these stupid things."
"Look, the CEO had more made, and the manager introduced them, it's not like I can say no, or else he'll probably act like I'm lucky I even get to oversee a team at all, so you'll all have to put up with it, sorry." Twitch.
"Boo, boo, down with robots!" Everyone except Gannet and Siorc said.
"Now, everyone, let us calm down, shall we?" Gannet cried. "Let us all just pretend they are not even here, how does that sound?"
"Tch, suck up, you're just saying that 'cause daddy dearest owns the company!" Tulong shouted. "Whatevs, I'm done. Boss, start the van already so we can get this job over with."
Company van off to the races, the hyena glared daggers at the robot cat dozen. He swears, every time someone complains, they introduce even more of these things. Let him guess, next week, there will be six more? Woo hoo, robots are their new overlords! He bets he'll have to get them their own SoulCritters next! Sorry, only people with a soul can get one of those, try again in their next life! Cracking open an audiobook, he closed his eyes for the time being.
[Current Location: Disaster Site Number One in the southern edges of Enig, Sweden within demon junction at around one in the afternoon.]
Rancid scent kicking in, the hyena resisted the urge to gag. What is this disgusting stench? Burning scent mixed in, too, he tried to keep it together. Oh, no, he's got his work cut out for him. Can they even last in here for even a single hour? Better hurry and put on some heavy gear. And, plastic cover, on. Opening up his bag, he gave Mr. Tux a glare. Excuse him, gremlin, where's his disaster gear? Put it on now!
"Everyone, we have three hours here. Any longer, and we can expect the worst to happen to us," Oriole warned, he then cleared his throat. "What happens if we mention the current state of affairs to the demons here?"
"Destruction and punishment," Rin said.
"Boom, boom," Ron said.
"Boom?" Ryn said.
"That's right, the demons will bury us in the most radioactive toys in their houses possible and subject us to unimaginable horrors!" Oriole cried. "Rxn, Rmn, Rtn, Rzn, Rln, Rbn, follow me, we will be talking to the demons today. Everyone else, go clean up the disaster site! And, remember, if any of you feel ill, leave immediately."
"Wow, even their names are gibberish now, boo boo, no AI, no AI!" Meilong cried. "And, I'll tell the demons exactly what I think of their little stunt, thank you!"
"And this is exactly why you're a temporary worker here! Get a move on before I decide to send you back home!" Clap, clap.
Noise coming his way to go to the wreckage site by the beach house, the chimera raced off towards parts unknown. Boiling cesspool laid out in front of him, he prepared himself. Why does it look like this place is close to being ripped into another dimension? He'd better hurry and clean up this place, or else he's going to become an Adult Mutant Fixer Hyena, sigh.
Small rabbit with two heads crying in the corner, the hyena placed his hand on his chest. This poor thing, what happened to it? Sigh, he's going to have to clean this thing up, he guessed. Uh, shoo, shoo, go to? Russia, he'll go with Russia. Actually, no, never mind, Chernobyl was in Ukraine. Agh, forget it, just focus on cleaning up here, hurry!
Pulled into a vortex twice over, a rotting world waited for him on the other side. Wow, way to leak the worst possible everything into southern Enig! No, Siorc, stop it. If the demons hear what he's thinking, he'll be punished for sure! Come on, focus on cleaning up the disaster! Hello, large rotting teddy bear that shouldn't be able to move, meet their worst enemy, a pair of scissors! Snip, snip!
Many problems one after another cleaned up and taken care of one after another, the chimera huffed a weak breath. Why does everything smell like rotten meat today? Can someone please turn the stench down, no? Huff puff, huff puff, he's got to do something. He just has to! How many hours left until he's got to be out of here? He doesn't know? He doesn't know anymore. Oh, no.
Scarred oversized dog popping up out of nowhere, the hyena reached for the Tranq Two Thousand. Which dart does he have to throw to get rid of this one again? Oh, right, the one that simulates eating chocolate. Is that really necessary, though? Maybe there was another way to save this poor pooch. Stupid robot reminding him that he has to shoot it dead, he sighed. Sorry, possible future SoulCritter, nothing he can do about this one. Bam, bam, and it's gone.
"Siorc, Siorc, over here, over here!" Rxn cried.
"Here, here!" Rln cried.
"Big problem in the woods!" Rzn cried.
"Woods, big problem," Rtn said.
"Big woods problem!" Rbn shouted.
"Hurry!" Rmn cried.
Dragged into the woods, something soon emerged. Wait a second, that's? Large doll crying out in the open, his head spun in cycles. Did this thing just? No way. Why is it alive? Robot cats flying upward, raining down bullets, he sighed. What is this, Danmaku in real life? Sorry, he's not cut out for that sort of thing, they deal with it! Turning around, a metallic creature bit into his left leg.
"No, no, stay, stay!" Rbn cried. "Ran, Rin, Ron, Ren, Run Ryn and Rwn said running bad here!"
"Bad, bad!" Rln cried. "Stay!"
Bullets ready to eat him up, the hyena resisted the urge to rip out his hair. Ugh, fine, he'll stay and take care of these things, are they happy now? He swears, if they think for a moment he'll let them rush him again, he'll write an even bigger complaint next time. They want a taste of what it looks like for a doll to die? Well then, it's time to say goodbye!
"Mrow, mrow mrow!" Mr. Tux shouted through his mask.
[You know what Mr. Tux said, he cried, "Pesky mutant, you're going down!" Aaand, shot, Woah, this cat's seriously got some skills, tch, showoff! Is the kitty here having fun, or is he just trying to one up his bondee? You be the judge of that! See ya.]
Doll's head shot clean off, the chimera dropped down onto the ground. Woah, hold on, how did Mr. Tux do that? This gremlin's just trying to show off, isn't he? Gah, whatever, show off for all he cares! Multiple things scrubbed away one after another, things had begun to get rather strange as the hour crept away. Is time going slower? Or has he gotten slower? His head is pounding, ugh.
Returning to headquarters who knows when, the chimera could hear the alien's spaceship already. And, here comes the next order of the workload! Save him.
