As I said before, Venice is composed of meandering alleyways, and the roads are intricate and confusing, and so before I noticed, I was lost in an empty street.
Shit.
How was I supposed to find my way now? I had forgot to charge my cellphone in the afternoon, as I wasn’t planning to go out again, so I didn’t had gps to find my way home.
“Calm down, Kat.” I told myself, in order to stop me from freaking out. “This islands are small, so just keep walking in one direction and you will either find the sea or a street. Or a person.”
That seemed like a good idea. I could do this. So I kept my direction, always searching for a person to ask for guidance but there was none. I was starting to freak out, and my own voice was not enough to calm me anymore.
Then, turning on a corner, I could finally see someone. Thank god!
“Hello! Sorry, could you help me...?” My voice was losing its strength with every step closer I took. The person was a disheveled man that had been sitting in the street, and seemed way too happy to see me.
“Ah, beautiful miss! Need help? Me help!” He answer in a broken English, and by the way he stood up I could notice he was drunk. He started walking towards me, and I backed out. “No run! You help me, me help you!”
By the way his eyes were roaming my body, I had an idea of what kind of help he was wanting.
“No Thanks, I am ok!” I answered while I turned around and started running.
“Stop! Stop!” The man was shouting. Was he actually chasing after me!? Now I was finally freaking out! Why the hell was he coming after me!?
I kept running, but I could still hear his steps behind me after every turn I took. Wasn’t he drunk? How could he run so fast?!
After turning another corner I looked back once again. I couldn’t see the man, so he wasn’t that close after a…
BUMP!
I bumped right into something and landed in the ground.
What was that I had crashed into?
My ass was sore after the fall but I had no time to lose, as I was still being chased. I opened my eyes to see the thing I have crashed onto, and what I found was not something but someone.
In front of me was the most horrible figure I have ever seen: a tall, enormous shadow with a long and pointy nose and big dark malevolent eyes. And it was looking right into me.
