"What the h*ll."
"What was that?"
Oh my gosh, this can't be happening. Why is this happening?
I ducked my head behind the bins, again. My heart rate began to increase, and my palms began to sweat.
Don't see me, don't see me. I repeated in my head.
"Who's out there." One of the guy's yelled.
"Over there by the bins." Someone whispered.
Oh no, this is the end.
I heard footsteps approaching.
Make a decision, I thought, run or stay.
I put my hands over my face, got up fast, and break out into a sprint.
"Hey!" someone yelled. I think it was Wolf.
I ran as fast as I could, my body was sore and weak from running before and falling on the ice, but couldn't let them catch up to me, so I tried to ignore the pain. My body was saying stop, but my mind was telling me go.
"Stop"
They sounded closer than before.
I turned right onto the sidewalk, and once again found myself on ice. Why me?
No, this time I wasn't going to let the ice get the best of me. I put my hands out on each side of me, bended my knees just a little bit, and l slid forward on the ice, my feet planted firmly on the ground.
I saw a street lamp coming up in front of me, I waited until I was close enough to grab unto it.
I grabbed the pole with my right hand, swung myself to the right, and landed unto the street.
As soon as I hit the concrete, I began to run again.
Did I really just do that, wow.
I heard the sound of a body hitting the ground. I looked back to see Arlo lying on the ice, while Wolf and Dark are flying on the ice. They did the same thing I did without bending their knees or putting out there arms. They looked like professional ice skaters.
I realize they were catching up. I look forward and try to run faster, but I seemed to be slowing down.
I hear a car honk behind me. I realize I'm running in the street, so I move to the right to get to the sidewalk.
When I reach the sidewalk I stop a while to catch my breath. I look behind me and see that Wolf and Dark were still on the other side of the sidewalk.
I began to run again.
'I never thought I'd say this but I hate running. Even though I'm part of the track team at school. I just feel tired and lousy.
I wish I had a bike or a skateboard, or even a scooter. Just something I could ride on.
But no, I had nothing.
As I run I see a group of people standing together, waiting for the bus.
Then it hit me. The bus. That's something I could ride on. But it don't have any money. Or do I.
I plunged my hand into my jacket pocket. Looking for loose change.
I feel the cold, metal surface of coins and pull them out. I had a couple quarters, a few dimes, and a handful of pennies. I know I had no money in my bag so I didn't bother to check in there.
I looked back again, to see a different scenario. Arlo was now up, with the support of his friends. I guess they went back to help him. He had both of his arms over their shoulder and was now limping. I couldn't really see but I think he was bleeding. I didn't know he hurt himself that bad, but I didn't have time to pity him. They are chasing me, and I have to escape.
The bus stop gave me motivation to run faster, because now I have a destination.
The bus just started boarding people, when I reached there. My chasers were to the right of me, and I could see they were getting closer, which made me more anxious to get on that bus faster.
When it was my turn I clumsily, thrusted the money into the bus drivers hand, I just needed to get on that bus.
He looked like he was annoyed with all all my coins, I don't know why? People always bring loose change to get on the bus.
I guess he was really annoyed because he took his sweet time counting up all those coins. I started to tap my feet.
I looked to my left and see that they are getting even closer, but it helped that having Arlo on their arms slowed them down.
"Your a penny short m'am.
I whip my head back so fast to the bus driver, I almost got whiplash. I recently learned what that was.
"A penny." I asked dumbfounded.
"Yes, a penny." he spat at me. Literally. Spit flew from his mouth onto me.
I wiped my cheek, then patted and looked through my pockets, searching for a single penny.
"I'm sorry, I don't have a penny."
"Then you can't get on the bus. Step aside, m'am. He said with an attitude.
"No, please, I need to get on this bus. It's one pen-"
"I said step aside, m'am."
I was about to reply when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turn around and see a old lady, with wrinkles, and brown freckles sprinkled all over her face. Her white hair was covered in a head tie.
She smiled sweetly, and reached her hand out to me, and there laid Wonka's last golden ticket.
Naw, I'm just kidding, but it might as well have been, because in her hand, held one single penny.
"For me?" I said feeling a little bit like an idiot.
She didn't speak, but nodded her head.
"Thank you so much." I gushed, picking up the penny out of her hand.
I turned back to Sour Sally, and practically threw the penny at him.
"Here you go, one penny for you Mr. Krabs."
Immediately after that, I dashed on the bus without looking to see where Wolf, Leo, and Dark were.
The lady behind me was the last person to board the bus, so after she came on, the nasty bus driver closed the door.
I went to the back of the bus and looked out the window. The bus driver started to drive as soon as I reached there. Outside I could see my chasers chasing the bus. I turned around not wanting to see them anymore. Hoping to leave them in the dust.
