I was frustrated and doubting myself. What was I doing? Helping this criminal that killed my own sister??? I stomped the sidewalk and knocked my fist against a tree. WHY!? Why was this happening to me? When I had finally decided that what I was doing was a very bad idea, and I should probably just drive straight back home, I received a call from Choe.
I stared at the screen for a full minute, just listening to the urgent sound of the ringtone. I sighed, and sighed, and sighed, debating with myself if I should answer. When I figured that Chloe was not about to quit, I declined the call and turned the ringer off.
If I was going to regret this later on, then...I won't. It was the right decision.
I stepped into the car and turned the engine on. After idling for a while, I felt a vibration in my pocket, and reached in to pull my phone out.
Message from "Chloe."
I pressed my lips together and rolled the window down. With one last longing glance at that notification, I hurled the phone out the window, listening to the deafening crack as it hit the cement.
