I stepped out of the car, and regretted it the very next moment. Neighbours and people from school recognized me immediately. They shouted out at me, and told them how sorry they were for my loss. People hugged me and squeezed my hand. The hot girl from my class even pecked me on the cheek. But, I still couldn't feel anything except for the heat of it all rush into me.
Before I could escape back into my car, a reporter decided to come along and speak with me. I shook my head and dodged into the crowd, my car buried beneath all of it. I was stuck.
People apologized for reasons that were completely unexplainable. Strangers came over to pat me on the back and told me to "stay strong." I couldn't help but notice that this was my community, and they all seemed to care, even if half of them just looked fake. Fake, fake, and fake. Still, I smiled and said, "thank you, thank you, thank you..."
I didn't care about any of this, I needed to find my Chloe immediately.
However, I could tell I was too late, because the ambulance started pulling away, it's sirens wailing. I was wondering why our parents hadn't come yet.
