I was afraid to go home. The area had cleared, and I had a perfect view of the blocked out oceanside. It's bright, aquamarine, rolling waves, calling me in, calling me to join Chloe.
After staring out to the edge of the world for a while, I climbed into my car numbly and turned the engine on. Soon, I was wrapped in the calming hum of the engine. I closed my eyes and fell asleep in less than two minutes. When I woke up, it was dark and I was hungry. I left the engine on and got out of the car. The air was brisk and cool. "The perfect weather," as Chloe would call it. I prefered it when it was warmer.
I walked down the street and down to the oceanside, until I was right before the caution tape. The water was glimmering and reflecting light from the setting sun. I closed my eyes and breathed it all in. When I opened them, I caught something white in the corner of my eye. Curious, I quickly walked up to it and picked it up. It was an envelope. An envelope addressed to me.
I sucked in a breath and flew into my car, unsealing the envelope carefully with shaky hands. At the end, the envelope still came out torn and crumpled. Inside, there were 2 letters. One from Chloe, and one from Jess.
