I folded the two letters and slid them back into the envelope. I don't know if I could say I regretted opening the letter. I don't seem to know anything, anymore. I couldn't help it, I crossed my arms on top of the steering wheel and stuffed my face into my sleeves. I was on the brim of bawling my eyes out.
This was awful. Awful, awful, awful, and I didn't even know what I did to deserve this. I felt awful. I was awful.
I flipped the envelope in my hands, back and forth, back and forth, when I saw some print on the inside of the flap. I lifted it up to my eyes and took a closer look.
Not dead. Gone.
I gasped and started looking around frantically in case either Chloe or Jess decided to pop-out and scare me. Of course, no one did.
It was probably Chloe who wrote that, after all, how could Jess have survived a fall from a cliff? What if, what if, both of them were still actually alive...? I held my breath and noticed that the engine was still running. I changed the gear to drive and rolled down the street. I was going to head home, first. I might just find some answers there.
When I rolled up the driveway and got out of the car, the house was dark. The mansion looked like a haunted house with the moonlight casting a whitish glow over it. A beautiful haunted house. Why did everything have to remind me of Chloe or Jess?
I walked up the steps and unlocked the door. "Hello?" I called, opening the door a crack.
"Your parents left. Pack up, you're coming with us."
