As they entered the wand store, they heard a welcoming voice "Mr. Alvis!" the old man shouted, walking forward to the trio standing by the door " It has been a while since I have seen you!"
As he held his hand, offering a hand shake, Mr.Alvis smiled pointing at his only daughter "we are here to get my one and only Zaya a wand"
The old man looked at the young brown-eyed brunet, after accepting Mr. Alvis's hand shake and greeted
"hello young lady, I am Garrick Ollivander, are you exited for getting your first wand?"
"Yes!" she smiled, putting her hand in the old man's, walking with him towards the corridors filled with wands. "Can I choose my wand mister?" she added.
A chuckle escaped his lips, and with a voice filled with wisdom he replied "The wizard doesn't choose the wand. The wand chooses the wizard." Grabbing a box and taking the wand out of it he continued "let's start then, here try this wand"
She held the wand, gave it a gentle wave and got the cupboard in front of her fall down.
"Oh my goodness! I am so sorry!" she gulped.
"Hmm, this wand may not be yours." He blurted, pulling another wand and giving it to her "Try this one"
She waved the wand again, and a fast power came out of it towards Mr. Ollivander, making him dodge it at the last second.
"This wand is not yours either dear" walking thrown another part of the store and taking a box from there "this wand… perhaps it going to be yours"
She held the brown wand that he gave her and before waving it, she felt the magic through the wand "this is the wand isn't it?" she asked Mr. Ollivander, in a low voice.
" Laurel wood with a Phoenix feather core,12 ¾" and Quite Bendy flexibility" he said, moving his eyes to meet Mr. Alvis's " Mr. Alvis, an amazing wand chose your daughter".
Ms. Alvis holds her daughters hands, as they walk the long road talking about how she first got her wand "the first wand I held made me break all the lights in the store"
With a laugh Mr. Alvis says "I was right behind her and after she broke the lights I set the door on fire" he points at a store in a corner "there is the pet shop, we're buying you an owl"
They got into the store, and while looking for an owl a brown-ish cat walked and snuggled next to Zaya's legs. Not knowing what to do she moved her legs and frightened the cat that scratched the floor while running away.
"Cats are stupid creatures" she said with a frown on her face.
"Camellia?" a long blond haired woman standing opposite Zaya said, with clear confusion that can be seen in her ocean-blue eyes.
Zaya looked at the woman, and without hesitation she said "No ma'am, I am her daughter"
"Did you come with your mother?" she asked, getting closer to Zaya
"No she did not, Emily get away from my daughter" Ms. Alvis answered with a laugh "I didn't know you work here"
"Well," she began "I got tired of all the stuff at the ministry so I took a break and came to work here instead of my mother, anyway why are you here?" Emily paused for a second and then as if she remembered something she gasped, with a smile on her face "Did she get her letter?"
"Of course," Mr. Alvis said from afar, with a smug on his face "who do you think she is the daughter of?"
"Well well, isn't it the annoying Joe?" snorted Emily, with disgusted voice that can be heard from afar "who do you think she is the daughter of, the best wizard to ever be living, the one and only wizard that won 6 quidditch matches in row blah blah blah" she mocked
"I smell jealousy" he said with the same smug on his face "I am not here to argue with the Ravenclaw that couldn't make the cure for boils potion. I am here to get my daughter an owl"
"That was a long time ago!" she huffed, making her way to the owls section.
She looked at the young girl walking behind them, not knowing who is the woman talking to her parents "I did not introduce myself" she spoke "I am a friend of your mother when she was still in Hogwarts, well before mister perfect here comes and steal her." She added, looking at Joe in anger "What is you name?"
"Zaya" the brunet mused, while walking to a white owl that cached her attention.
Emily muttered "Pretty clear who gave you that name," and then continued "why would you want an owl? I think a black cat with green eyes would suit you more"
"Well I do prefer owls, I think cats are kind of stupid, and they shed hair that sticks to clothes" the young girl told, caressing the snow-white owl
"You know," the short woman next to her suggested "I think that actually a cat will suit you more"
Emily, with happiness because of Camelia's agreement started explaining "Cats are pretty intelligent!" she said "I have a black kitten with green eyes that doesn't shed hair at all! It is one of the rarest cat types in both the wizard world and the muggle world"
Walking as fast as she can, the middle aged woman went and grabbed a cage that had a coal colored kitten with shining green eyes and handed it over to Zaya.
"What do you think? Isn't it cute?" Emily said.
With a soft look on her eyes "It's cute" Zaya muttered
"Do you want it?" Mr. Alvis asked his daughter, as he was reaching for his money.
"Is it okay if I got an owl and a cat, father?" Zaya said, with an innocent look on her face.
"The letter said that you can have one pet only" Mr. Alvis laughed, at his daughters try in making him buy her two pets.
"But I can't decide" The little girl claimed, with a voice trying to get her father's propitiation.
Before he said anything, Joe glanced at his wife, that shook her head in disagreement.
"Your mother does not agree with having two pets." He said "Do you want to know my opinion?"
Zaya nodded, waiting for her father's opinion.
"I think that you should get a cat, they are better to play with if you're feeling lonely. However owls are a bit boring and they don't do anything except standing on a stick." He said "Well unless you want it to deliver letters, but you can have Hogwarts owls do that."
Zaya stood there for a second thinking about the pet she should choose and then she finally said "That's it, I'm having Emerald"
"Well, cats always win" said Emily while grabbing a box filled with stuff that a cat needs. "This is your gift from me" she said with a smile on her face.
After getting out of the store Zaya blurted "mum I just remembered something! Tomorrow is the 1st of September!"
"Oh do not worry." Her mother calmed her down. "we have already told Professor McGonagall that you will go to Hogwarts, we didn't have to send an owl"
Zaya sighed in relief.
After that, Zaya got her uniform and the books she need. They went to have lunch and then went home. Zaya started packing what she needed, her wand, her uniform, everyday clothes. She glanced at the books and read through couple of pages of each one of them. She finally then decided to ask her parents more about Hogwarts.
Her parents told her about the sorting hat, they told her about the houses and how almost everyone from the Alvis family was sorted into Ravenclaw, if not into Gryffindor. They told her about the points that each house gets through the year ad they told her about their favorite subjects and professors.
After dinner, Zaya went to sleep. She didn't know that her parents were in the living room discussing if they should tell her about "it" yet or not.
The 1st of September's sun finally rose, and with it Zaya got up from her bed too. She went to her parents and told them that it's time to go to the train station. Little did she know, they were more excited than her.
She looked at her train ticket on the way to the train station "Mother?" she asked "There is no such thing as platform 9 3/4"
Her mother laughed "Why don't you just wait until we get there?"
The excitement didn't make her patience at all, she asked many questions on the way to the train station, and when they got there her father shouted "Finally!"
As they were walking through the platforms her mother explained "there is a brick wall between platform 9 and 10, what you have to do is run towards it and go through it to get to platform 9 3/4."
"There you will see other wizards getting in compartment, you should make friends so go and sit with one of them" said her father "we are here"
"platform 9 3/4" Zaya mumbled, not sure if she wants to run into a wall in front of everyone. She turned to her parents and asked "Will you be mad if- if I wasn't sorted into Ravenclaw?" She didn't want to disappoint her parents, but from the description her parents gave her about Ravenclaw, she didn't feel that she belonged there.
"Well of course we won't!" her Father said, patting on her head "I just hope you won't get sorted into Slytherin" he whispered.
Not hearing what her father said she held into her cart, said goodbye to her parents, and ran into the brick wall. She saw a red train, and saw people who had luggage similar to hers get into it so she followed them. She got into one of the compartment as her father told her, but it was empty, no one was sitting there. She sat there, looking through the window, wondering what will her life at Hogwarts be like, will she be able to get to her parents expectations or not.
She was deep in her thoughts when a white blond haired boy, grey eyes and pale skin entered the compartment and sat on the chair opposite of her.
"I don't think you would mind me sitting here, right?" he said, looking at her with cold eyes and faint smile.
"Not at all" she said, extending her hand "Nice to meet you, I'm Alvis. Zaya Alvis"
He looked at her for a brief moment and accepted her handshake "The same here. Draco Malfoy" he said "The Alvis family is known for being all Ravenclaw, you don't look like one"
"I know." She said "You didn't bring anything with you here, were you sitting with someone else?"
"I was sitting two boys in another compartment, but I wanted to set alone for a while" he answered, sitting more comfortably "well I am not really alone but you don't seem like you would bother talking about how you ate 2 plates full of food before coming here"
"Oh" she laughed, covering her mouth with her hands.
"So…" Draco continued "shall we be friends?"
"I do not see a reason to refuse" Zaya said gently while smiling to the new friend she made.
