Alicia
***
I start to have some doubts when I hear the thunder on the door. Chizu and Ania are frozen in fright and even Vie pauses before opening the door.
In the doorway stands a girl who looks nothing like her brother. Her hair is bright, almost the color of blood. Her eyes and nose are more sharp, as if a look or a touch on the tip could puncture skin and muscle. Only naive eyes would see her built as fat.
All in all, I totally have the desire to make out with her.
Eyes the color of mud drift to her unconscious brother and the look of disgust is so strong, I can feel bile traveling up my own throat.
“And who the eff are you?” Wow. She’s so badass yet she doesn’t like to curse. Can I keep her?
“I am V-”
“I’m Alicia.” I hold out a hand.
She takes it and her knuckles go white as she squeezes it. I can hear bones crack. “Charmed.” When she lets go, I wince in pain as the quick healing process begins. “Are you lot wampires?”
“No.” squeeks Chizu.
“We’re not even involved in this.” says Ania, pointing at me and Vie. “They’re the ones you want.”
“Thanks, snitch.” says Vie.
“I’d rather be a snitch over a dumbass any day, sweety.” Ania grabs Chizu’s hand and nearly pulls her up the stairs chuckling, “Have fun,” over her shoulder before disappearing.
“Look,” Sami grabs her brother, hoisting him off the ground with about as much care as if he were her gym bag, “I’m not in the mood for any B.S. today, ok? I just want to get my sorry excuse for a brother back home so I can pound into his head how important it is not to talk to strangers.”
“Her eyes..” groans Zachamo from Sami’s shoulder. He promptly gets a whack in the back of the head that probably gets rid of a few pesky brain cells.
“Wait, before you go,” Vie pulls a card from her back pocket, “here is my number. Call when you need a good…” She makes a loud slurping sound, the lollipop stick protruding from her mouth spins like a wheel. What is she, in the industry of love doctor?
I watch in dejection as Sami takes the card and then in delight as she stuffs it in her mouth, chews it, then spits the soaked ball into Vie’s face.
“I suggest you two start thinking before doing if you wish to continue living here.”
“And,” I challenge, “What if we don’t?”
Sami raises a rust-colored eyebrow and an ice cold grin frosts her face. “Then I’ll have some wolf pelts to keep me warm this winter.”
