Starting to feel better! Ill travel tomorrow!
I stared at María’s message for a while. I had almost forgotten about her after that wonderful night I had. It had just been so amazing! Had I actually danced in the main scenario, with all the lights and people watching me? Had I really learned how to juggle? And participated in that contest? Everything was so amazing I was distrusting my memories a bit. And how could I not? Real me would have never done anything like that.
But yesterday I was not the real me but a better version of me, one that didn’t feel anxious or scared. One that was stronger, as long as I had the company of my mysterious new friend.
I blushed as I remembered those intense eyes, his sweet laugh and the kind way he was holding me while we danced together.
María needed to know she was losing so much wonderful experiences.
Missing you, I have so much to tell you! I met the most amazing guy ever! Come soon so I can tell you the details!
That would surely be a good incentive for her to come sooner, too.
Then I hear a knock on my door.
“Katerina, are you awake? I made breakfast!” Giulianna called me.
I left my cellphone on the bed and went to the kitchen, where a very smiley Giulianna seemed to be waiting for me. I shrugged it off and started eating.
“I saw you dancing in the scenario!” She said happily.
I was very close to spill my coffee. I had been so silly yesterday! Of course there was someone who knew me with mask and everything! The same person who gave me the mask! I wanted to smack myself for a second.
“Who was that tall guy that was dancing with you? With the medico della peste mask. I saw he never left your side!” She continued, oblivious to my momentary shame.
“I met him yesterday. He was… very nice.” I said simply.
That seemed enough for Giulianna.
“I am so happy for you, amore mio! I was a bit worried that you wouldn’t have a nice time without María, but I see you are quite capable of having a good time alone. If someone starts bothering you or if you aren’t having a good time, you just have to call me! I will take care of everything.”
There was a motherly worry in her voice, and I felt grateful towards her. She wasn’t laughing at me, but she was genuinely happy that I had done all those crazy things yesterday.
“I will see him today again, before the historical regatta.” I admitted.
And her smile grew bigger.
“Then, amore mio, I hope you have another amazing day today.”
