Zach

I’ve never seen anything like it. Martin stands; shirtless, brilliantly colored wings spread out in their fiery-red glory. Their sharp edges reflect the light like broken glass, throwing Martin’s human body into a bright haze.
“Wh-what did you say y-you are?” I stammer, my throat dry.
“I’m a dragon. So’s Cassedie.”
I’m surprisingly calm. Oh...oh, now I’m dizzy.
“Is this too much for you, Zach?” Martin turns to me. “Good thing I’m not fully in my true form…”
“No, I’m fine. I’m fine. So, you’re saying...my sister...is a dragon?” If my sister can breathe fire, I will faint.
“Oh, no way,” he chuckles. “Your sister and mother are wampires.” He pulls in his wings with a woosh that nearly results in my pants being soiled.
“What’s that? Wait-” I gasp- “what’s my dad? What am I?!”
“Oh, the questions.” Martin sighs. “Your mother should be telling you-” His eyes widen as he falls abruptly silent.
“What?” I ask.
“Your mother.” He face palms. “She’s probably tearing Sami to pieces!”
“What? But, they’re at my grandparents’ house. They don’t know…” My sentence trails off as I read his facial expression. “I’m starting to highly doubt the word of my family.” I mutter.
“Well, we gotta get back there fast.” His blue eyes locked with mine. “Get on my back.”
I can feel blood rushing to my face, momentarily forgetting everything. “You’re into that, huh?”
He raises a coy eyebrow. “Only as much as you are.”
