Mephiles' POV

The shadowed figure started to walk towards me. Instinct took over my body and I bolted. I ran down the street and turned the corner.

Home... I need to get back to my house... but that would be a half hour run! I know I'm athletic but that would kill me. Whether I'm being chased or not.

I glanced over my shoulder to see that the shadowed figure of Silver was not behind me. Then I ran into something and fell back from the force. I squeezed my eyes shut from the pain shooting throughout my head and back. I heard a groan and knew it wasn't from me. My eyes shoot open as well as me sitting up. But the light from the street lamp above illuminates someone other than my pursuer.

"Silver?" I say, surprised.

His yellow eyes show themselves as he sits up as well, holding his head. Once he notices it's me, they go as big as mine. "Meph-" Silver can't finish speaking as I quickly grab him in a tight hug.

"Where the hell have you been?!" I said.

I feel Silver trembling in my grasp and realize how tight my grip is. I quickly let go and Silver takes a gasp for needed air.

“S-Sorry! I-I -!”

“Don’t bother,” Silver cut me off. He rubbed at his neck for a second before standing and helping me up.

“Where have you been?” I asked. Silver didn’t reply as he took my wrist and started to drag me down the road.

“There’s no time to explain Mephiles. We need to get back to your house.”

I looked at him confused. “What-?”

“I said that there was no time to explain.”

I shut my mouth and stared at Silver’s back. ‘What does he mean? Why can’t he explain while we walk? I wonder if it has something to do with that weird shadow person I saw…’

It didn’t take us too long to get to my house from our quick pace. Neither of us had said a word. Though I continuously thought about the reasons Silver could be so… paranoid. Every time he glanced back, it was never to me. He was frantically looking at all our surroundings like something was going to jump out at us. And every now and then, he would speed up for a minute or so. If it weren’t for his strong grip on my wrist, I would’ve still been where we ran into each other.

We walk into the house and Silver practically throws in the house. He locks the front door before going around the house. He locked the rest of the doors and windows, pulling any and all curtains across the racks to hide the inside from the out. It only freaked me out more.

“Silver?” I call softly.

He doesn’t stop and rushes around, not taking notice of my presence. He probably wouldn’t even notice if I walked elsewhere. I sigh and stride over to the stairs. It’s been a long night and would like some sleep.

“Mephiles? Where are you going?” Silver called.

I turn around and meet his slight panic gaze. “I was going to my room…” I said slowly. Cautiously.

“”I’d prefer it if you slept on the couch please.”

I shook my head in confusion. “What? Why?”

“Can’t explain. Just don’t go upstairs. Stay down here and where I can quickly get to you.”

“What is that supposed to mean?! You just got back after three months from disappearing! Why should I listen to you?!”

“One, stop yelling. Two, you are in a life or death situation.”

“You’re not making any sense Silver. What do you mean by ‘life or death situation’?”

“Can’t explain. Just stay down here.”

“Why?”

“Can’t explain.”

“Can you explain anything to me?”

“Just stay down here. Don’t go upstairs.”

I glared at him. ‘If that’s how you’re going to play…’ I thought. I then huffed and walked up the stairs. I don’t care about what he says. He’s just giving me bullshit. He doesn’t know anything. He’s been gone for three months and then just shows up and starts to boss me around. Yeah, not going to happen. I opened my bedroom and was greeted by a knife. I yelp and duck, the tip coming only mere millimeters from my neck.

The weapon is then swung at me multiple times. I backed up into the wall and look at the attempter in fear. He brings the knife back, and launches at my chest.
