Shadows POV

I woke to a blinding light. I squint my eyes and let them adjust. Once I can fully see again, I look at my surroundings. I'm in Maria's room...

I slowly sit up and get a small headache. I try to move my hand but a weight keeps it in place. I look down to see a blurry figure laying their head down on there arm and hand wrapped around my hand.

I go out on a limb and say, "Maria?" in more of a whisper than anything.

Her head moved a bit when I said her name. I said her name once more and lightly shook her. She finally brought up her head and she had a groggy look like I woke her up from a sleep. She squinted her eyes at me before a smile spread across her face.

"Hi Shadow" Maria said groggily and yawned, covering her mouth as she did so.

I smiled back and opened my mouth to say hello back was stopped by my headache getting extremely bad with dizziness joining it. I then hold my head in my hands trying to ease my headache and clear the dizziness.

Maria notices my actions and held my arm trying to get my attention. I see her mouth move like she was speaking to me but I only heard ringing.

"What?" I whispered.

Maria's eyes go wide before she gets up and runs out the door. I try and call out to her but my head starts to pound and my dizziness takes over my vision.

Maria didn't return until a few minutes later, and she had brought Gerald and someone else with her. My eyes were distant and I thought my head was going to explode. I gritted my teeth and squeezed my eyes shut when the ringing in my ears got worse.

I soon open my eyes despite the pain from the ringing and looked over to Gerald to see him looking at me and his mouth moving. I gave him a confused look and just stared at him.

"What?" I said in a panicked whisper as my breath started to quicken at what was going on.

What was going on? I didn't know what to do so I just sat in the bed and stared at Gerald with a confused look that seemed like I was looking at him like he was crazy.

I then looked over to the other person and noticed it was another scientist. He was pulling something out of what looked to be a first aid kit and gave it to Gerald. I then felt my arm get tugged down and small pinch. I look over to see that there was a needle in my arm and Gerald was putting some drug into my arm.

I then started to get extremely tired and looked up to see Maria standing at the end on my bed with worry all over her face. I gave her another confused glance before my eyes rolled to the back of my head and I fell asleep.

Maria's POV

I watched as grandpa put the sleeping medicine into Shadows arm. He looked up to me and he had a look of confusion before his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he fell forwards. Grandpa caught him before he hit the bed and possibly hurt himself further.

I only stood and watched as more people came into the room with a rolling bed and took him out the room. I was on the verge of tears as I watched them take Shadow away. Grandpa saw me, came over, and hugged me.

"He'll be alright Maria. I promise he will," he said trying to calm me down.

I hugged him back and put my face in the crook of his neck letting a few tears fall.

I hope that grandpa stays true to his word...
