Shadow's POV

As if on cue, the faint sound of a scream and gunshot is heard and I freeze out of pure terror. Maria on the other hand quickly got out her bed and ran over to me before grabbing my wrist and pulling me. I almost fall to the ground from her pull but regain my balance before I'm pulled again. Maria drags me out the room into the hallway and turned right.

Narrators POV

Shadow turned his head to look back and saw a scientist turn the corner. She started to run but was shot down before she could get far. When the scientist fell, there was a soldier dressed entirely in black with a gun pointed Shadow and Maria's way. Maria turned back when she heard the gunshot and saw the soldier as well. She gasped and turned down another hallway.

Maria's POV

'Why are they here?! Grandpa said that they wouldn't be able to track the ARK and even if they did find it, they wouldn't be able to get in without the passcode!!' I thought.

Then the realization hit me. Clain is the one that's helping them... He is the one that told them where the ARK is. He was the one that gave them the passcode. He must be the one that told them about Shadow...

They were going to take Shadow and kill him... They think he's too dangerous...or else they want to use him... With the power he has...he could win wars with ease...

I wasn't going to let them do that. Even if it's the last thing I do...

I make a left and run into one of the rooms. I quickly throw Shadow behind me before shutting and locking the door. I don't waste any time as I drag Shadow over to the escape pod and shoving him in before I close it. I then run over to the control panel and start to program it to launch down to Earth.

Shadows POV

I watched in fear, curiosity, and worry as Maria typed in the panel. 'What is she doing? She knows that you can't get into a escape pod once it's closed...'

"Maria?" I say with worry and fear imbedded in my voice. "What are you doing?"

"Making sure those G.U.N soldiers don't get you."

I saw the seriousness on her face as she continued to press buttons. I open my mouth to ask how she'd get out but got cut off when a banging was heard from the door. I then realize that she wasn't going to come with me...

"Maria! Stop! Let me out! No! Maria!" I yell, begging her to let me out so that I could help her escape instead.

She ignored me and continued to mess with the control panel. The banging got louder and I panicked more. I tried to get Maria to let me out again but to no avail. Tears started to stream down my face and I started to hit the glass.

"Maria! Please! Stop!"

Maria pressed one last button before putting her hand on the lever. She looked up to me with sorrow in her eyes.

"Shadow... Promise me that you will help the people down on Earth have a better life," she said with sadness and hope in her tone.

Tears were still streaming down my face as I looked at Maria. My big sister...the only person that loves me as much as I loved her...was asking me to make a promise that I would never want to keep for anyone else...

I opened my mouth to answer but the door was busted down and one of the soldiers walks through holding a gun in his hand. Me and Maria look at him before looking at each other. She mouths the words 'Promise me' before smiling and pulling the lever.

The sound of a gunshot is heard and the last thing I see before plummeting to the planet below...is Maria's falling form...
