I walked into my health class and there he was, Jared, sitting at the desk next to the only one that was empty. I slowly walked to it and sat down. I tried not to look at him but he was looking at me and I gave in and looked over at him.
This was the first time that I actually paid attention to his face. His eyes were green, he had a little bit of freckles on his cheeks, his hair was brown and curly, his cheek bones and jaw were really define. You could tell that he had recently shaved his facial hair off. His face was actually kind of cute. Something I normally don't think of well, anyone. I've never really given much people a second look, well not a second look to most of the boys in my school. I could feel my face becoming red and I looked away from him and tried to erase my thoughts.
I tired to ignore him as much as I could and took out my drawing tablet and started drawing Uta. I could feel his eyes on me. I gave in and looked over at him. He looked away and got out a paper and started writing on it. A few seconds later he looked over at me and slowly placed the paper on my desk. I look at it and it says "Have you read my note?" I stare at it and shook my head no. Then he reaches over and grabs the paper and writes something else and puts it back on my desk again. "Please read it before school ends. Please?" I look over at him and I nod my head and he smiled at me. His smile was the type of smile that makes you want to smile back. I look away and down to my notebook and continue my drawing. This time I chose to draw a few birds --even though I don't like birds-- and trees. He kept looking at me on and off for the rest of the class time. I bothered me but it also didn't.
It bothered me because I wasn't used to the attention like this from anyone but I also liked it cause someone was actually noticing me. Even if it was a foot ball loving mutant. I smiled to my thought and let out a low giggle. I shook my head and looked over to him. He was looking at me but his face showed confusion and questions. He was probably questioning my giggle and smile. I looked away quickly and stared at the weird drawing I did of a chubby bird with a worm in its mouth. Hopefully he will think I was amused with my drawing. I thought to myself. The bell rang and I heard him let out a annoyed sigh. Why annoyed. I questioned in my head and looked at him.
He stood up and I followed. He looked over at me and smiled. His smile looked like a smile of disappointment. It looked as if he was trying too hard to seem happy about class ending. Why? I questioned myself. He turned and started walking with the rest of the class out of the room. I stayed behind to get my stuff. I picked up my satchel and my drawing notebook. I grabbed my pen and put it into the pocket of my satchel and started to walk out of the room.
When I walked out I looked over to my right and he was standing there.
"Stay behind to read my note, Jessi?" He asked with a smile as he said my name.
"I uh, stayed behind to gather my things." I answered and looked up at him. He looked down at me as I looked at him. Erica must have told him my name. I thought. When did she tell him?
"Read it now. As we walk." He demanded nicely. "I just want you to read it." He claimed.
"If I do, will you stop asking me to?" I asked as I started to walk down the hall to my next class.
"Possibly" He said and caught up with me.
"How do you know my name, did," I almost hissed her name, "Erica tell you it? When did she?"
"She told me when she walked by me before you walked out of class." He said, almost amused.
I looked at him and reached into my pocket and took the note out. I looked down at it then back at him and again to the note. I slowly uncrumple it and start to read it.
"Hey, I'm sorry for how I acted. I feel like a total jerk. Hopefully you can accept my apology. If there's anything I can do to show you that I am truly sorry, I will do anything. Again. I'm so sorry. I'm Jared. If you want, I'd like to get to know you please. If you say no, I might not give up that easily." His handwriting was nice and clear. Almost perfect. His handwriting looked like that of an artist.
I looked up at him and he was looking at me. You could see questions in his eyes. I looked away.
"I'll think about it." I said and looked at him again. Clearly it wasn't the answer he wanted but he still smiled at me. His smile seemed honest.
"Tell me your answer when you decide." He said and reached his hand out and grabbed the paper, touching my hand in the process. I pulled away quickly and looked away. My face was getting red with embarrassment again. I could feel it. He turned away and put the paper on the lockers and pulled out a pen. He wrote something on the paper and turned back to me then handed it back, his hand touching mine. Our eyes locked and everything seemed to fade out. The people, the noise. Just gone. It seemed to just be him and I there. My face grew red and I pulled my hand away, taking the paper with it.
"Text me some time?" He asked, hopeful.
"Uh, S-Sure." I said embarrassed by the fact that I actually got a boys number.
"What class do you have next?" He asked and smiled at me.
"I have painting next I believe." I told him not even sure if I was right.
"I have that class also, wanna walk with me or do you wanna catch up to your other friends?" He asked.
Friends. It echoed though my head. Friends.
I looked away. "I can walk with you if you want." I said almost in a whisper.
"Cool. I was worried you'd walk away." He said excited. We started walking down the hall to the art class.
I looked at my hand that he grabbed. Soft. I thought.
