Zituang sighed into Adeyemis’ hair. They laid in his bed, his hair loose from his topknot and her curls tickling his nose. It had been a month since she sent him that first text and since then they continued to hook up on occasion. He didn't get it, the young woman continued to come back to him. Surely she was saying that she wanted to be with him but couldn't.
"I don't understand why you continue to stay." He mumbled.
Adeyemi turned to face him. "He is my fiance. I have to stay with him and no matter how much he cheats, I still love him. I don't know why I do, so please don't ask."
Zituang frowned, "So then sleeping with me now-"
"Keeps you quiet. I don't appreciate you calling me names like that especially to other people." She said with a soft scowl.
"You slept with me to get an trading agreement signed, and I'm not the only one who fell for that. " He said in retaliation.
" You were being stubborn in the boardroom, I simply changed tactics and brought it to the bedroom. There were no faults with the treaty, everyone won. You were the only one who didn't sign immediately. My father was ready to rewrite it so you'd get played for taking so long. You're quite lucky I came in to speak to you." She argued back.
"You were doing a lot with your mouth but speaking wasn't one of them."
Adeyemi rolled her eyes at his statement.
" It was the first time my father had trusted me with something like that. I wanted to make sure I wasn't fucking it up."He said softly.
"How sweet." She drawled, it was his turn to roll his eyes and the air was silent.
" You are a liar." He stated after a while his fingers still in her hair.
"I know." She sighed.
"And a hypocrite." He added.
"I know." She was sleeping with other men but upset at Ryan for sleeping with other women.
"But you're beyond beautiful, the most beautiful girl in the world." He sighed
There was another pause as several thoughts ran through her head.
"I know." Her voice was quieter.
Half an hour later Adeyemi was in her car looking and smelling just as she did when Ryan saw her last. She pulled out of the garage and quickly sped out of the area. She drove a few miles down to Ryans' apartment. She didn't see his car in the driveway, he wasn't home then. Luckily she had keys, and simply walked in after using her set. He told her he wanted her to cook dinner for him tonight. She was nearly to the kitchen when her heard the moans. She paused, he wouldn't dare. The moans of the unknown female was joined by the grunts she knew belonged to her fiance and the light sighs of another woman. Porn perhaps? She was trying to rationalize the situation. It had to be porn, he wouldn't call her over, then have women in his home. He wouldn't do that to her. One of them called out his name. No not porn. She wanted to bust through the doors and hand his ass to him. She wanted to rip off body parts. He knew she was coming to make his dinner. She always gave in and let him have his way. She didn't argue unless it was important, she gave him control all the time. So how could he be so inconsiderate as to have two other women in his bed the same time she was to be there?
She fled the apartment as quiet as possible and ran to her car. She sat in the driver seat for a while gasping for breath. Not from her run but because this was like finding out he was cheating all over again. It took her a while to calm her breathing but when she did, she felt a rage in her that she never felt before. Still she was quiet, she always had to keep her pain to herself. Her hands were shaking. She needed to seem calm. Cool, calm, collected just as she was raised. Adeyemi rested her head against her steering wheel and held her hands between her thighs pressing against them as she breathed deeply. After around ten minutes she stopped shaking. She sat up and her smile was back on. She pulled out of his driveway and sped off to her apartment. Today was Saturday, there was bound to be something happening. She checked her social media and found that a Caribbean prince was holding a party. She'd go, without her fiance and have a grand time. She'd follow in his footsteps and not give a damn if people saw her this time. She gave up her pride long before even knowing his name. She thought many things of him when she was young. He seemed so trustworthy then, she let him into her heart. He took her inches and turned them into miles. He took a lot from her, when nearly everything she did was for him and his happiness. She gripped the steering wheel tightly as she drove.
When she finally reached her apartment she took a long shower. She'd go to this party alone. She didn't have friends, all too often women were too jealous of her and men only wished to sleep with her. The corner of her mouth twitched. Should she bring someone back to her apartment? Perhaps two? Her thoughts turned sour and she gritted her teeth. She blow dried and flat ironed her hair. It had been a while since she had straightened her hair and she could see she got a lot of growth. Her hair was now mid back, after a trim.
Satisfied with her hair she moved to sit at her vanity and begin doing her makeup. He still hadn't called. He must've noticed she never showed up by now. She was irritated. Adeyemi went with a smokey eye and dark lipstick she chose a lace crop top and a matching midi tulip skirt. She added tall chunky heels and simple bangles. She didn't wear her engagement ring. Now fully dressed she slipped into the back seat of her sleek private car. Her driver pulled off and exited her apartment lot silently.
The party was amazing. She knew that before she even entered. She could hear the music playing and it lifted her mood slightly. She entered the party looking around only a little. He got a good venue. It wasn't a club or anything so that he wasn't prohibiting any regular citizens from a good night. She nodded her head in approval. The room was full of energy and she felt a thrill. She went to the bar and ordered a Godiva chocolate martini. One of her favorite songs came on and she began whining her waist as she waited for her drink. Someone approached her from the side and turned to one of the free bartenders.
"One Manhattan " Said the deep voice she faintly recognized.
Finally she turned her head. It was that Korean prince. Fuck what was his name? She looked up at him. He was very good looking, he had a fit body, she could tell from how his white shirt fit him. His skin looked as smooth as butter. She could picture herself tasting him. And that damn that jawline. Should she take him back tonight?
"You're in my crisis negotiation class aren't you?" She asked turning to him fully.
He gave her a side eye and didn't answer.
Adeyemi raised a brow at this. "You just looked at me. You could answer yes or no. No need to be rude." She scolded as the bartender handed her, her drink.
"Yes, we're in the same class. I didn't mean to come off rudely. I was simply taking your advice from last week, you know, to stay away from you and all." He said, his tone was slightly annoyed.
Adeyemi groaned internally. She did say that. Shit. She shifted uncomfortably.
"Right. Well then." She raised her glass and turned away from him.
"What? Did you get your men mixed up? You know I used to feel bad for you. Now I feel bad for Ryan." He said nonchalantly before sipping his drink but his eyes lingered on her body for a moment before looking out to the crowd.
Ah, right Zituang is his friend. He must have told the Korean crown prince what she did. Keeping calm she turned back to him. "I never get my men mixed up. You're not one of them so I wouldn't immediately recognize your face." She began " As for feeling bad. Don't feel bad for Ryan or myself. We're both liars anyways." She said with a humorless smirk.
Jaejeong still didn't turn to look at her. "Well, as long as you know. He, at least is public with his wrongdoings."
"Shit." The short yet curvaceous woman beside him swore.
He followed her line of sight and it landed on the crown prince of England, Thomas. Thomas hadn't seen the young woman but was grinding with some heiress on the dance floor. Adeyemi turned around to face the bar.
"Another one of your men, eh? Tsk. You should have some tact.” He said smoothly. He gave sarcastic smile, “ At least you have the decency to show some shame." He added taking a gulp of his martini.
"He's my fiance's best friend. It doesn't matter whether or not we've slept together. Bro's before hoe's and all that." She said waving a hand in the air. She asked for a coke and rum this time.
He ran his palm through the side of his hair "Hm. Then good luck with not getting caught being a hoe."
Adeyemi gulped down her drink. She came out tonight to get caught. She shouldn’t care if Thomas saw her and reported back to Ryan. She turned and Thomas was looking at her confused, he knew this wasn't her scene. She looked up at the male before her and leaned up locking lips with him then pulling away before he could push her away.
" I'm trying to do just the opposite of that." She smiled. Jaejeong was going to reply but something off to the side caught his attention. A tall white man about his height of 6'2 grabbed Adeyemi's arm roughly and pulled her to his side.
"Ryan." She gasped, Ryan looked furious his face was nearly red. His hold on her arm was tight and kind of painful. Adeyemi looked back at Jaejeong who glared back at her. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" Ryan hissed into her ear harshly.
"The same thing you planned on doing here." She spit back. Ryan didn't let go of her arm and dragged her back to his car.
"Get in the car." He commanded letting go of her arm. She didn't want to listen to him anymore.
"No. "
" The fuck you just say?" He questioned his voice getting low as he stepped toward her. " Get in the damn car Ade."
She glared up at him " For what? So you can drop me off at your house while you come back out here and make out and fuck with other women? No. I'm staying, you go fuck your bitches and leave me alone." She crossed her arms and straightened her stance.
Ryan cornered her so she was leaning against the car. "Ade, you know I love you." He spoke softly.
Adeyemi shut her eyes. It sounded so sweet coming from her lips but she had to tell herself not to believe him, " Stop with the lies Ryan, you've never loved me."
Ryan bent himself slightly so their faces were closer and cupped her cheeks. "Open your eyes baby, please." She didn't want to open her eyes but she did when he asked. Adeyemi had a habit of doing what shes told.
His blue eyes peered deeply into hers. "I love you. I do. Let’s go home, together." He said softly. Adeyemi knew it was a trick, she knew he'd bring her to his house, he'd lay her on the sheets he had those other two women on and after she's fallen asleep he'd leave and return sometime in the morning. But he looked at her so gently, so lovingly, he could ask her to walk with him into the pits of hell and she’d follow.
"You are such a liar." She said softly "This hurts me. You can't even do it discretely. Three years, three fucking years" She said angrily. "You didn't have the decency to hide it from me. You could have at least hid it from me." Tears welled in her eyes as she got more agitated. She refused to let them fall though. She loved him even when he made a complete mockery of their relationship, she stood by his side.
Ryan sighed and ran a hand over his face "I- Alright fine, I cheated. But I do love you, at the end of the day you're the only one for me. We all know that you're my forever girl." He said placing butterfly kisses along her neck. She wanted to push him off but his lips on her neck felt so good.
"You're my number one. Adeyemi, always." He sighed softly. Adeyemi glared at him but it wasn't as hateful, it was actually a pretty weak glare. "You're still lying but that's okay, because I'm a liar too." She sighed caressing the side of his face.
Ryan didn’t pretend to know what she was talking about but silently opened the door to the front passenger's seat and she slid into the car. He got into the driver's seat and drove back to his house. The drive was fast and his hand massaged her upper thigh. His mouth covered hers as soon as they stepped through the door. His kisses ranged from angry to lustful and she didn't mind. They went at it until she couldn't stay awake any longer.
When Adeyemi woke early in the morning his side of the bed was empty, as she expected. Still she couldn’t help but hope one day before their marriage he’d actually still be there in the morning. She called her driver and changed into some clothing she had kept in his closet. She changed, threw away his discarded condom and ripped the sheets from his bed. She made his bed with new linens and blankets, throwing the bedding from the night before into his washer. She made sure his room was clean before leaving the apartment.
When Ryan stumbled into the house from his excursion while she slept, he found his his bed was empty. He let out a big exhale and sat at the corner of his bed. He knew he was wrong. He did have feelings for Adeyemi but their marriage was something neither of them could get out of especially once they both said the words. He just wanted to do what he wanted before then. In the end he was kept and so was she.
