[Old] Galia: Tale of the End The Novel

The Beginning Part 4

The Beginning Part 4

Jun 08, 2017

[The Beginning]

Outside, Daisy got into the car that she shared with her brother. Unlike the game store, the supermarket was too far to walk to, so Daisy had to take their car. It was their first car, but Bellis always expressed strong feelings against its brand. On the other hand, Daisy didn't care at all. It was useful whether or not it looked nice.

Once she found a parking spot at the store, Daisy got out and looked down at her list.

Pringles

Pineapple Soda

It was a short list, but it was long enough to contain life's necessities.

"Hey, Daisy!" Somebody called to her as she got to the front of the store. She looked up to see her friend Rose. Rose was about the same height as Daisy, but slightly smaller. Unlike Daisy, Rose styled her hair and outwardly cared about her appearance. Her hair was tied back with a bow into a flawless bun. Rose's outfit was almost identical to Daisy's, but her shirt had a rose as the design. One of her most noticeable features was her grass green eyes that stuck out beneath the strands of red.

"You're here early!" Daisy exclaimed when she looked down at the clock on her phone. "Its only three past six!"

Rose gave a gentle smile. "I thought I could buy a new book while I'm here."

"Didn't you just get a seven hundred page book two days ago?" Daisy said bewildered.

"And?"

"You're going to run out of books to read if you don't slow down, Rose!"

"Daisy, you do realize that that is practically impossible." Rose ranted. "New books are written and published everyday. I can also read stories online that are updated weekly, not allowing me to binge read to quickly. A particularly good read is The Fight For Our Future."

Daisy patted her back. "It's great that you are so passionate about reading, Rose."

"Would you like to hear about the book that I'm writing? It's about a lonely female protagonist who falls in love with-"

"Again, glad you're passionate." Daisy interrupted and led her inside the store. Rose pouted, but followed silently. First, Daisy went down to the snack aisle and grabbed an armful of Pringles cans. She placed them in the basket and headed to the drink aisle that contained a plethora of various soda brands and flavors. She walked up and grabbed two two liter bottles of pineapple flavored soda.

"Pineapple?" Rose questioned. "Why don't you get two different types of soda so there is something for everybody?"

"Because everybody will love this." Daisy put the bottles in the basket and walked over to another aisle.

"Not everybody has the same tastebuds as you, Daisy." Rose retorted.

Daisy turned to her with a cold stare. "This is the book aisle. Why don't you choose something." She snipped. Rose turned her head away sharply from her friend and stared at the row of novels. After a minute she reached out and grabbed one. She flipped it over and read the back.

"I'll get this one." She mumbled to herself as she turned back to Daisy. They walked quietly to the self checkout counter where Daisy paid for her stuff first. She waited behind at the end of the conveyer belt as Rose paid for her book. She walked over to Daisy slowly as she put the change back in her wallet, but the change fell from her hand. Rose groaned and reached over to pick them up. Daisy helped pick up the coins that had rolled towards her and handed them to Rose. "Thanks." Rose said curtly.

"No problem, you klutz." Daisy joked and hit her lightly on the shoulder. They walked out through automatic doors and went to Daisy's car.

"I see you got the side mirror fixed." Rose commented as she got into the passenger's side.

"Yea. Luckily nothing came out of my wallet." Daisy turned the car on and backed out of the parking spot.

"Well it was your brother's fault. How did he even hit a tree like that?"

"Surprisingly, my brother is clumsier than you are. God knows what the heck he was doing. Probably eating and driving." Daisy laughed.

"At least he only clipped the tree and didn't crash." Rose added.

"Yea. Glad he didn't die. You know. 'Cause he's my brother and all." She pulled out of the supermarket parking lot and onto the main road. "Our parents leave a lot to go on long business trips, so it's nice to have his companionship."

"What about Lily and me?" Rose prodded.

"We get together to have these parties every so often." Daisy answered. She turned into the development.

"Too bad we can't have them more often." Rose contemplated.

"Yea. My parents are away a lot, but not enough for us to get together regularly. We should go to your house some time." Daisy said, thinking of a compromise.

"I wish, but my parents." Rose paused and looked out the window.

"Oh! I'm sorry. I forgot." Daisy turned to her with pity. "Maybe Helian could host."

"His house is nice." Rose mumbled as she watched the development houses pass by. Daisy pulled into her driveway and turned off the car.

"I wonder what Lily's house is like." Daisy pondered as she locked the doors. "I wish she wasn't so secretive about it." Thunder rumbled over head as thick grey clouds blocked out the sun. It started to drizzle, so Rose covered her hair with her arms. When it got wet, her hair got frizzy and seemed to stand straight up.

"She's probably scared we'll judge her. I mean. She has a very huge ego and if we see how bad her living conditions are, it would pop like a balloon."

"Well, if I were her, I wouldn't want people to judge me so much on the amount of money I have too." Rose said.

"Yea, same."

"Says the rich kid."

Daisy opened the front door to an empty living room. The TV was on and the game menu music played softly in the background. The air had grown stuffy and humid due to the storm that was brewing outside. "Bellis? Are you home?" Daisy called out just as thunder boomed miles away. Rose turned the fan on to circulate air throughout the large house. The way it was stagnant and stayed heavily on open skin was unbearable. Daisy smiled at the feeling of movement.

As he took his earbuds out, Bellis stumbled into the living room. "You called?" He responded.

"I was just checking to see where you were." Daisy said as she put the bag of groceries on the coffee table.

"Oh my god! Did you get pineapple soda?" He bounced up and down giddily. She nodded and bounced along with him.

"You bet I did! Mom never lets us have this, so of course I'm gonna get it when she's not home!" She received a deprecating look from Rose. In response she stuck her tongue out. "Helian and Lily should be coming soon right?"

Bellis looked at the clock. "Yea. Its about 6:30 now, so I think they'll be here in fifteen minutes." Suddenly the door burst open letting in a strong gust of wind crying heavy rain.

This is the super old version of the story. I probably won't post the new written version here unless Shadow of the Heart, the new comic version of the story, becomes popular. However, you can meet most of the characters and see the original idea for the story.
Disclaimer: The new plot is much different and darker.
