[The Messenger's Past]
Lily walked down a long extravagant corridor that fed into another stretching hall. The walls were covered in gold and baroque styled art. She moved down a set of stairs that led her to a much darker and dirty hall. It was the basement. Piles of storage touched the ceiling on the right and on the left hoards of gold flowed over the dusty floor. She picked up a coin and hid it in her pocket. The fresh metallic scent lingers on her fingers. Lily walked to the end of the chamber. At the very end there was a small wooden door. She knocked and waited until she heard the clicking of a lock.
It opened and a short, black haired women peered out at her with piercing magenta eyes. "Name."
"Rëally? You know më Sakura!"
"Name."
Lily sighed and rolled her— mentally rolled her eye. "Lilium Candidum."
"You're here about that eye right?"
"No I want to këëp the giant holë in my facë."
"With that attitude you will."
"Oh my god! Was that ëmotion?"
Sakura's eyes trailed up to Lily's face. "I am only helping you because it will bring the airy one here. I do not like you and your stupid fire powers." She said angrily, but as always, it came out monotone. She sighed to calm herself down and fully opened the door. She motioned for Lily to come in and sit.
"The spell for this is going to be painful. I have to fill that empty space to fix it." Sakura looked around her lab for all of the supplies. "The reaction will burn away all of the dead skin, so it will be painful." Sakura did not care whether it would hurt Lily or not. The Sun was her leader and she wanted him to see how hard she worked for. A promotion would be the perfect reward for her deception. She found everything she needed and set it down on a short table.
Lily laid down in the chair she was sitting in. Sakura tightened the straps around the other's arms. In response, Lily laughed nervously. "Hë hë. Is this rëally nëcëssary? Sakura? Sakura!?" Sakura reclined the chair making Lily's distraught face look up at the dripping grey ceiling. A drop dripped down the wall and into her deep void. Lily flinched.
Pulling out a large flask, Sakura started pouring and mixing fluids. Some were thin, while afters were viscous and tar-like. Finally she added a drop of a red liquid and picked up the flask. "Are you ready?"
Lily's lip curled down. "As I'll ëvër bë."
"Now you must be still or it won't work properly." Before she poured the almost gelatinous mixture into Lily's empty eye socket, Sakura took a white piece of chalk and started drawing on the wall. Lily impatiently bursted. "What arë you doing!? Just gët it ovër with!"
Sakura growled and finished drawing a symbol. "As you wish your highness." Her monotonous voice slithered out. "On the count of three. Three." She flipped the glass over completely. Every drop of black ooze filled Lily's pore. She screeched in agony. Her shrill voice filled the small room, but she could not leave. She could not make it stop, because she was tied down.
Sakura jumped away. She went to her spell book and started adding other symbols to her original. It was written by the creator himself. Lily writhed under her metal bindings. The chains began to smoke and turn vermillion. Sakura rushed. She added one last symbol.
It was a time and space symbol. When the spell was activated it would created a tear in space. Or a portal. This is how the four would get to Earth, but the last symbol would bring them back. It was very specific. It took an exact time and place. It gave the kids enough time to grow up and come back to see their true power. Well. Only Daisy would know the true power. She was the real reason for the Sun and his follower's work.
Their goal was simple. Destroy creation.
"Calm down Lily. If you keep doing that your eye won't be right." Sakura finished the last line. She turned around to find Lily standing over her. Green eyes pierced her pink. She stared. She couldn't move. Lily gasped out. "You. Arë. Trying. To. Kick. më. out. of. Suun!"
"It was an order! The Sun told me to throw you into his world. The human world."
"That's my rëward? I had my ëyë gaugëd out. For him. For our causë."
"This is for our cause, Lily! This is destiny."
"I don't bëliëvë you. I will nëvër bëliëvë you. Thë only words I follow come dirëctly from the Sun's mouth!"
Her burning hands wrapped themselves around Sakura's small neck. She gasped in pain. A tear rolled down her flushed cheeks and rose into steam. Her ivory flesh blackened and charred. Lily threw her to the ground.
Lily stared into a puddle on the ground. Two eyes looked back and not one. Her vision was never going to be the same and she hated not knowing the past. Maybe she could have seen this coming from a past loop.
A ball of light exploded from behind her. Papers flew around the room and beakers smashed into the ground. Lily found herself being pulled into the light. "No!" She screamed. She tried holding onto the edge of the portal with all of her strength.
Sakura propped herself up on the chair. The portal was not for her and she was safe. Blood dripped down her neck as dead skin flaked off and fell onto her kimono. She watched giddily as Lily disappeared.
The three children were sent through a similar portal and had their memories wiped. In the human world, Lily found and took care of them until they could be distributed to different families. They grew up and went to school where they naturally became friends. Lily watched them grow up from afar. It was not until her appearance matched their age that she wedged her way into their lives again. She did not age like a human, but she was striped of her powers as soon as she went though the portal.
...
After she snapped out of her thought, Lily found herself in front of a massive bee hive. It was connected to a large twisted tree, similar to the one in the field. It stood out from the rest and was surrounded by golden locks of wheat.
These odd trees were known to progress time. Something about them moved the flow of development. Time was said to be like a river. The trees block the path of the river and must become part of the past for the river to reach its end destination, the ocean. However, the end is not the end. The ocean currents pull time and existence back to the mouth of the river and the loop continues endlessly.
Lily found herself herself peering into the hole that was the entrance to the hive. Bumblions hovered over her as they moved in and out of their home. She did not have to worry about them finding her. Bumblions are all body. Their eyes can't see below their plump legs. Even if they could see Lily, they would do nothing about it. A fleet of bees had gathered around a central point. Lily could not get a good view of it, nor could she understand what they were talking about.
An old urge bubbled through her. It had been so long. There are so many of them in one place. They would be too stupid to get out. Especially if their only exit was blocked.
Lily snapped her fingers together and a ball of fire danced in her hand. It leaned and dipped before it leaped onto the gigantic mass of wax. The hungry light ate away at the hive's thick skin as smoke was sucked into the hole. Panicked buzzing resonated from behind the thick wall of gas. The song grew louder and shrill, but soon faded away behind the hissing as crackling. Smoke plumes caught the wind and spread ash over the canopies. The gluttonous flame jumped from tree to tree as it decimated the forest. The once imperious tree caved in and slouched over. It winced as its bark shattered and crumbled, becoming one with the earth.
Lily walked out into the clearing and leaned up against a surviving tree. Her unquenchable work consumed closer trees. She closed her eyes and sighed. Wind pushed through her messy hair. A laugh escaped her lips. Lily lazily opened her eyes. Her fire was met with cold, blank, pearly eyes.
