Meanwhile somewhere else...
In a dark, undefined place between the living and the dead, a place that could be only described as void, where nothing should exist... something was there.
Wilhelm felt like floating in midair. It was a feeling that he never experienced before. There was no sound, no pain, no warmth nor cold. He couldn't move, but he didn't mind. Somehow that strange feeling was calming, soothing. A small thought went trough his head, a pleasant thought of staying like this forever. However...
"There you are..."
A deep calm voice interrupted the silence, echoing in the void. Wilhelm didn't feel startled though. He couldn't open his eyes, so all he did was to focus his mind on the source of the voice. And it was hard at first, because it seemed to come from all directions at once.
A gentle breeze was to feel, a dark shape appeared by his right forming itself from swirls and scraps of shadowy matter, finally becoming a body of a tall man. He had black hair, the bangs covering the right side of his face, his eye gleaming red. A sort of golden tiara shaped in long thin horns was on his head. He wore a black cape that he swept from his left shoulder by a wide hand movement, revealing elegant clothes underneath.
"We had some trouble locating you. Funny though that I had to finally find you in a place like this."
The unknown man placed his hand above Wilhelms forehead, then made a gesture along the body as if stroking the air gently. After that Wilhelm felt his strength coming back, and he opened his eyes slowly, tilting his head to the right.
"Wh-..." he couldn't finish the sentence as the mysterious person cut in.
"You happen to be trapped beyond realms. But you aren't dead."
"Huh...?"
Dead? What does he mean? Wilhelm thought for a moment, and then a series of recent memories flashed trough his head: about Reinhard, their conflict and how he was executed. Flooding his mind all at once, the images felt too overwhelming and Wilhelm winced and moaned in pain, instinctively putting hands to his head.
"You're still connected, that's good." The man said.
"What is the meaning of this..."
Wilhelm hissed rubbing his temples and curling up a bit. The man smirked.
"I'll try to explain it as simple and as fast as I can. First of all, my name is Samael."
Samael bowed gracefully with his red eye glowing a bit brighter, and an eerie demonic smile on his face. Wilhelm felt a small shiver, and somehow that name sounded familiar, but he couldn't recall where did he hear it before.
"Long story short, you're not dead, because you're not human. Well, not entirely. You happen to be a halfblood, and inherited few interesting features from your father."
"...Halfblood...?"
"Yes, a Fallen blood to be precise. I think your kind calls it... devils?"
"Devils???"
Wilhelm froze. He's a half-devil? It felt like a bad joke.
"I'll get to that part later. Anyway, you can't be killed by mere human weapons. As long as your brain is still well preserved, that is. From what I see the bullets punctured your torso. That's not a big deal, but I assume the impact was so intense, your consciousness was basically kicked out of your system."
Samael poked Wilhelms chest, five small orbs lit red in the place where bullets pierced his body. Wilhelm felt still very confused.
"So... you mean..."
"Don't worry. I will help you to get back and as a small bonus, I will heal you instantly since you can't do it by yourself yet."
Samael raised his arms, as if preparing to cast a spell.
"Wait-wait-wait, hold on, just... just let me gather my thoughts, give me a minute, alright...? Uhh... Could you please explain a bit more...?"
The soldier closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead. He needed more time to comprehend what just happened.
"I will, but not now, I advise you get on your feet first... or you might regret it later..."
"Will my... ahem, corpse decay if I don't do it now?"
It felt awkward to say it like that. Samael shook his head.
"Not really, more like it's about to get shagged by your horny necrophile friend."
"WHAT?!"
Wilhelm's voice echoed through the void.
