You were all waiting in the lounge for the arrival of Ichio, Takuma's grandfather. All of a sudden, a small snicker could be heard from Ruka. "Are you that afraid of that geezer senator?" she asked, not seeming half as tense as the rest of the vampires. As for you, you were unsure of how to act, as you had never met the man before. "Of course. He's a monster who's been alive twelve times longer than us and I'm guessing that's why everyone skipped class to be here" Akatsuki answered, throwing you off a bit.
"He can't be that bad, can he? I mean, he's Takuma's grandfather and Takuma has got to be one of the calmest and nicest people in here" you stated casually, which in turn got you a small smirk from Rima. Man, were you starting to regret telling her about your feelings for Takuma now. "I'm also scared, (f/n)" Senri butted in, and him also being scared confused you even further. "But still, I wonder who's scarier: Dorm resident Kuran or this guy?" he then continued, placing his hands behind his neck. "You're kidding, that's obvious" Hanabusa then stated, and the somewhat scary atmosphere was beginning to get to you at this point.
Suddenly, the front doors began to open, and in stepped an older man with white-blonde hair and cold blue eyes. To be honest, his appearance alone almost scared you as bit. "I appreciate this warm welcome, but the only reason I've come tonight is to pay a visit to my dear grandson. No need to stand on formalities" he said, and you shot a nervous glance at Takuma who had just made his way over to you. He simply smiled weakly at you, but you could tell that he was slightly nervous as well.
"Oh, you must be the new vampire that I heard about" he then said, making you flinch and turn your head back in his direction. He was now way closer, and was holding out one hand toward your direction. "It's a pleasure to meet you, miss" he said kindly, and you slowly took a hold of his hand. "Pleasure's all mine" you stated politely while bowing your head. Let's face it, you were trying to make a good impression. I mean, it couldn't hurt to be on his grandfather's' good side, right?
Then, the male's face changed suddenly and he started acting as if he had caught a whiff off something. Suddenly, his grip on your hand tightened before he pulled you toward him roughly, so that your back was facing him. As a response, you couldn't really do more than simply look at your friends with a shocked and somewhat scared expression. The look on Takuma's face wasn't any less shocked, as he simply stood there, dumbfounded as he watched the scene in front of him unfold.
"Would you mind explaining to me why I can smell Takuma's blood on you?" the man then said from behind you, making your eyes widen even more. You hadn't quite been able to get the smell away entirely since the night when you first got to know you were a vampire, and he had noticed it. "I-I-I..." you stutter out before his grip on your wrist tightened, making you squeak in pain. At this point his nails were digging into your hand and you were sure the grip was hard enough to leave bruises.
"P-Please l-l-let g-go! I-It hurts!" you managed to stutter out, a few stray tears escaping from your eyes due to the immense pain. Despite that, his grip doesn't loosen in the slightest, as he's still demanding an explanation for the smell of his grandson's blood on you. Then, you suddenly got an impulse, out of the blue. But being in too much pain to even question it, you turned your head around and looked him in the eyes. "Let go of me" you said demandingly in more of a whisper than an audible sentence.
At that moment, Takuma seemed to have gotten his head around the situation as he rushed in to help you. "Grandfather, please let her go! She hasn't done anything wrong!" Takuma half yelled, as if in panic, and Ichio let go before he could even finish the sentence. It was as if he began letting go even before Takuma had intervened. But that might just have been your imagination.
Breathing heavily, you quickly stepped away from the man and hid behind Takuma. You were trembling and your hand hurt like hell. Let's just say you didn't really have any problems understanding why people were scared of him anymore. A voice that could be heard from the staircase then stopped the whole scene in the lounge. "I would very much appreciate it if you would refrain from hurting any of my classmates like that" Kaname said as he walked down. You were still trembling, but seeing as the attention had switched from the two of you to the pureblood currently walking down a set of stairs, Takuma turned his attention to you. He immediately began apologizing on Ichio's behalf, and you started telling him that it was alright and that he wasn't in control of his grandfather's actions.
Takuma then grabbed your wrist gently, holding it up. Luckily, the bruises hadn't began to form yet, and it simply looked red. The nail marks were visible, but they didn't look half as bad as they would in a couple of minute, seeing as they would most likely start bleeding and turn into small scars. "Does it hurt?" he asked gently, as he tried not to hurt you by holding the wrist. "A little, it's really not as bad as it looks though" you lied, trying not to worry him. He was just about to say something else when the sound of skin hitting skin made it's way through the room.
As the both of you turned toward the cause of that sound, it didn't take long to realize it came from Kaname slapping Hanabusa right across the face. "I haven't taught him enough manners" Kaname said, bowing his head to Ichio. "It's because you are here, Lord Kaname, that I'm able to put my concerns at ease and let my grandson attend this academy" Ichio then replied, before getting down on one knee, almost as if he was proposing to someone. He then took Kaname's hand, before kissing the back of it.
To say the least, the scene unfolding in front of you surprised you. But, then again, you were still in a state of shock. But, seeing Kaname slap Hanabusa like that shocked you even further. You didn't know exactly what he had done, but something told you he most likely lashed out at Ichio for some reason. Where you came from, slapping him for something like that was rather excessive, but, then again, this was like a whole different world. The rules they lived under were completely new to you, and you assumed you'd simply have to get used to not knowing how to react every now and then. Not like anyone would really blame you, having lived with humans for majority of your life and all...
"(F/n), could you wait here for me? I need to talk to my grandfather for a while, but I'd like to take a closer look at your hand once that's done, if you don't mind" Takuma then said, making a slight shade of red creep its' way onto your cheek. You didn't answer, but simply gave him a nod. To be honest, it was mostly because you were still in such a state that if you tried speaking you'd probably end up stuttering.
~Timeskip~
"Takuma, it seems Lord Kaname has a great deal of trust in you. You keep serving him as well you have been, and keep an eye on him as well. For those are the only reasons I'm allowing you to stay at this academy, is that clear?" Ichio said, as he walked toward the front door. You were currently standing behind Takuma's back, as you didn't want to get too close to Ichio again, considering what happened not long ago. Despite that, you had agreed to wait for Takuma, and that you would. Although, you had to admit the glances that Ichio shot at you were somewhat intimidating. It was as if he was mentally yelling at you to get away from his grandson, and the events happening during this conversation were no exception to that.
"Grandfather, I'm afraid you don't understand. You see, I will only do what is best for my friend. I'm sorry" Takuma said, angering the other male tremendously, it would seem. "It is you who does not understand. Make no mistake, friendship based on a fictitious piece in the small world of this academy..." he began, only to be interrupted by an oh-so annoyingly cheerful and high pitched voice that could only belong to one person: Yuki Cross. "Cross academy is peaceful!" she blurted out confidently, making the three of you turn your attention toward her.
"Yuki?" Takuma said, the cheerful voice he used whenever he talked to his fangirls resurfacing. Well, then, and sometimes when he'd talk to you. You seriously felt your heart skip a beat at the sound of it, though. You always did. "Uhm, so, the headmaster said he would like to ask you to donate a lot for the academy this time around as well!" she then beamed, doing some kind of salute. "Uh, hold on. You are actually Takuma's grandfather, aren't you? We are here to escort you!" she then yelled before doing another one of those salutes. Seriously, what was her deal? So annoying...
"Follow us, we'll take you to the headmaster's office" Zero then said, emerging from the shadows. Well, at least you could handle him. I mean, for most of the time he kept his mouth shut... "Hmpf, very well" Ichio said, before starting to walk out of the door. "Ichio" said a voice from the top of the stairs, which you didn't even need to turn around to identify. "Huh? Kaname, what are...?" Yuki then asked. 'Great job, Yuki. There you go being annoying, again. And to top that off, she didn't even finish her sentence, despite not being interrupted by anyone...'
"Thanks for coming. I look forward to seeing you again in the future" Kaname then said, the line aimed at Ichio. "The same goes for me, as well. Goodnight" he answered with a bow, before exiting the building, following Zero. Much to your dismay, however, Yuki didn't follow them.
"Yuki..." Kaname then said from the top of the stairs, and she immediately started blushing. "Ah, yes?" she answered, in waaaay to high a pitch. "Good work" Kaname simply answered, and you had to admit you had no idea what he saw in her. At all. "Uh, oh, no, I uhm... Uh, I just... I just wanted to say thank you for yesterday! E-Excuse me!" she yelled before running out, and leaving everyone a little confused. You couldn't really say you cared, but it did confuse you, especially since not even Kaname seemed to know what she was talking about.
As soon as she'd left, Takuma's attention turned to you. He gently took ahold of your arm, being careful not to grab at the same place that Ichio had and started leading you to his room. Inside the room was Senri, who started smirking as the two of you walked in. "Guys, if you want a private place to make out, I'd suggest you try her room instead" he said, grinning slightly. Seeing as Takuma ignored him, you decided to do the same and simply followed him. "You can sit down at that chair" he said, pointing his head to his desk chair. You did as told and quickly sat down, this action was soon followed by a groan as the red haired male seemed to get bored of the situation and walked out of the room, most likely going to go talk to Rima instead.
Takuma got down on one knee in front of you before gently taking your right hand in his. This whole action made your heart skip a beat. No scratch that, it probably stopped altogether. Curse you, damned hormones! Luckily for you he didn't seem to notice your face changing color, as he was focused on your wrist. He slowly pulled your sleeve up, revealing the scars and bruises now visible on it. There were clear dark marks after his hand and fingers, along with small scars from his fingernails with a small amount of dried up blood in each one. His eyes widened at the sight, and you could almost hear the sound of his heart sinking.
"I-I'm so sorry" he whispered out in a shaky voice, his eyes not even once leaving your arm. Seeing him like that almost broke your heart a little, so you decided to simply give him a hug, or rather, give his head a hug, since he was to far down for you to hug his torso. He seemed a bit shocked at this action first, but he soon stretched his back out in order to give you a hug back. "I told you, it's not your fault" you whispered to him while still hugging, and after a couple more seconds, the two of you pulled apart from the embrace.
He pulled out some tissues from the first aid kit he had brought, along with some disinfectant. First, he cleaned most of the blood away with the tissues and some water, before taking out some disinfectant on the remaining unused ones. "This is going to hurt a bit..." he said quietly, before looking up at you for a response. You simply nodded your head ever so slightly, telling him to proceed, which he did. Feeling the stinging pain in your wrist, you clenched your teeth to prevent any whining sounds from escaping through your lips. Once he was finally done cleaning it, he wrapped a bandage around it, seeing as a bandaid would be too small to cover it all.
When he was finished with that, he suddenly stood up and headed to his bedside table, taking out two books and throwing one of them at you. "I think you'll like it" he said when your face started turning confused looking at the book in your hand. He then sat down on his bed, leaned against the wall, making an obvious spot for you to sit down next to him. You can't help but giggle slightly before making your way over to him and sitting down in the spot he made for you. You had to admit, though, you two were really close. Only approximately 2 centimetres between you, which made your heartbeat quicken.
Despite all that, the two of you ended up sitting like that together, reading until the morning came.
Author's note! Okay, that was a long-ass chapter if I've ever seen one... Still though, the story is progressing and I feel like I'm dropping hints every five seconds or something. I don't really know how obvious they are to you guys though, but please tell me if you have any guesses as to where this story is heading, because I always think it's fun seeing other people's interpritations of my works. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and that you're looking forward to the next one! //Yours truly, Handsomesquid :3
